WKmini nano USB sold by Kanga 2
Thanks Steve, I will contact them to find out what the "plus" implies, and what the total costs will be to get here. My K42 is still a top notch solution as standalone but I would need something connected to the pc now, and K46 is out of reach anyway... Basically from UK to EU it is game over. It is infeasible to buy most of the stuff now, even low cost items get any kind of creative fees in addition to customs, international shipping programs and such. Best solution would be having a EU distributor of course, but you know it. -- Giuseppe Marullo IW2JWW - JN45RQ

WKmini nao USB sold by Kanga 2
Hi all, I would like to buy a Winkeyer, but living in Italy, it became a big problem. UK is Europe, but it is not EU anymore. I see Kanga sells K1EL stuff, wondering what I am buying. For example, WKmini nano USB: 1) Is *exactly* the same of the one that Steve sells, except for the box? 2) Is it a next version going to be sold in substitution of the "current" or Kanga ones will always be a bit different? Of course supposing that customs fees won't kill me, from UK is becoming a nightmare, even couriers jumped on the tax wagon and inventing new creative ways to cut a slice of the pie. My Winkeyer story 5
Hey all, With all the issues this group has with various problems, Here is one I bet none of you have ever encountered.' My new Winkeyer, still in it's shipping box is currently residing in a package locker down the street. Thing is, none of the keys work to open that locker. The postal system has to put in a work order to fix that locker. I am still waiting. Strange. Take care, 73 Thom KI8W

Winkeyer stopped working 21
Wondering if any one has experienced the winkeyer just stopped working and no longer being found by the computer? Its worked like a champ for about 2 yrs or so, but suddenly started to be a bit erratic and finally stopoped altogether. As a stand alone it works but the paddles are now reversed...unable to get he computer to see it. Swapping in teh winkeyer mini to the same computer, all works fine. Anyone with similar issues or ideas? Scott

Undocumented parameters in WinKeyer 3 Tools Utility 5.3
As new WinKeyer USB (EU version by Kanga Products) user, I found 3 items in the "Keyer Configuration" section which are not documented in the WK3Tools Operation Guide Rev 1.0 (March 27,2017): - FaveWpmOff - 1stExtension - ST Volume (guess this is the sidetone volume) Maybe there is a newer Operation Guide which I overlooked. What is the functionality of these parameters? For the 2 accepting numeric input - what are their valid ranges? Thanks & 73 Markus HB9BRJ

Stop a message during transmission 9
I usually use my Winkeyer USB with N3FJP ACL control, but this requires ACL to have focus. I have similar messages in the keyer itself and can of course send them with the buttons. When using full break-in, if I hear the station I'm calling I can cancel my message with the ESC key. Is there a comparable way to do this from the keyer itself? Wes N7WS

Winkeyer USB PTT problem 9
Winkeyer USB with the updated chip at revision 31.02 I'm trying to use the Winkeyer USB output to control a 12VDC antenna relay. Right now I'm just keying it manually, not from the PC. With the PTT lead-in set to 10ms and the PTT tail set to 5 ms (paddle hang set to 1.3 Word), and the keying speed around 25 wpm, it works for a while (a couple of T/R exchanges), then PTT starts following the keying without holding up. If I hold the key to dots or dashes and send them for 15-20 seconds, that's when the problem occurs. That's not something I would normally do, just discovered that the issue occurs when I do that. After waiting for several seconds and hitting the key again, the PTT again holds up during the transmission as it should. And, if I turn the speed pot up or down any amount, PTT no longer holds up but follows the keying. Maybe there's something I'm not understanding about how to set it up, but I think I have everything right. This happens in keyer mode Iambic A or Ultimatic. Haven't tried it in other modes. Ideas?? 73, Floyd - K8AC

WKUSB Speaker output 6
Recently built my kit and extremely pleased with the results except for the on-board speaker level.I use hearing aids and have tried all I know to increase the volume. I hear pretty well but can barely tell that the tones are present. Difficult to practice with my Benchers. Help appreciated! Thanks Charlie

Paddle sound 4
Hi folks, Lately, when I send CW using my paddle, the sound also comes from my WinKeyer USB box. Any clues on how to eliminate that so that I just hear the code through my headphones? I do have the WinKeyer USB hooked up with N3FJP. I can control the keyer speed on my WinKeyer, and I can control keyer speed in N3FJP as well as with the F keys. Thanks. 73 Jeff KB6CA Jeffgin1940@...

Trouble Getting WinKey Remote To Work Outside My LAN 6
Hi all- Dave K2DH here. I’m looking for some suggestions/ideas. I’ve been using WinKey Remote to operate CW at my remote station in Upstate NY when I’m at my winter home in FL. It’s been working fine for 2 years, but I’ve run into a problem I can’t seem to resolve since I changed ISP’s. Here’s my system: WinKey Remote Client on my desktop PC at the home station, WinKey Remote Server on the laptop I take to Florida. When set up the way it used to work, it still does, AS LONG AS I’M INSIDE MY LAN here at the home station. Note: I’m also running Green Heron Everyware client/server software to control my rotor, antenna switches, power switches, etc and this all works fine remotely. When WinKey Remote used to work, I had a router and static IP provided by the cable company and I would connect through it to the PC. I dropped cable and went to fiber and now have a static IP at the fiber modem and the modem is connected to a NETGEAR R6700v3 router connected to all my devices. The PC is hard wired to the router thru a switch and as I said, the WinKey programs work fine together with the laptop also connected to the router in this mode. If I either take the laptop elsewhere or connect it wirelessly to my phone running as a wifi hotspot, I cannot connect to the PC/WinKey Client. I get the following error message in the server program at the laptop: “Initializing Winsock Client…” followed by “Error: Data record not found”. My settings at the server are as follows: Program Startup: Open TCP/IP Connect (checked) Network I/F: Net Client IP Address: 104.244.193.117 (the Static IP of the Fiber modem) IP Port: 3890 IP Address Override is NOT checked Control Point My remote side settings are as follows: Program Startup: Same as above Network I/F: Net Server IP Address: Greyed Out IP Port: 3890 IP Address Override is NOT checked Remote Side The laptop is connected to the phone and I can surf the Internet when connected this way. I suspect my problem is IP address-related, but I don’t know what to set it to- I tried setting it to the IP of the Desktop (Remote) PC, but that didn’t connect. Any ideas anyone? Thanks in advance! 73 Dave K2DH -- Dave K2DH

Repeating Macro 18
Any ideas on what causes the F2 macro to send your call 328 times with one depression and totally embarrass the crap out of you in a pileup when the escape key won’t stop it? I’ve recreated the macro database several times, changed keyboards, said 19 Hail Mary’s. I’m out of ideas. Regards, Pat – KZ5J

Display 5
Before someone jumps on me and says RTFM I not only read it but have a printed copy. On the K45 you could turn off the backlight but I have not figured the K46 out? (Unless I missed something" Also I am having some other issues with the initial set up and at 90 I screw up sometimes. If there is someone who has set up the 46 I would appreciate some help. I have a Yaesu 101 but that is incidental. If you respond give me a phone number and a good time to call and I will do so. Many thanks Neil N4FN

K46 - first impressions 20
Just got mine today - pre-ordered early. With the stand, it is a great looking unit. Have just started playing with it, although I have owned a K45 for several years. Love the bigger display in a slightly smaller box. I think this is a real winner. With the old-age problems, I need all the help I can get in doing CW, both send and receive, and this unit will fit the bill. Thank you Steve - great addition to the lineup of products. Walt

Winkeyer USB Issues 2
I have been using my Winkeyer USB for years now - am using it within HRD. Recentyly, - NO Changes made to either Winkeyer or HRD - I am having two issues: 1. When sending cw, I am not seeing that code sent on my DM780 window. 2. When starting DM 780, it looks like it is not connecting. My rig is showing properly. If I close the Winkeyer window, it seems to keep the window open and then it shows connected. Also noticed that the buttons atop the USB case no longer work - I do get the 'r' when the system is turned on. Mike N5XTH

WKUSB-AF PC sidetone connection 4
Hello all, My Icom IC-7600 does not present a CW sidetone on the USB audio interface so I cannot hear what is being transmitted when operating remote. I would like to connect the AF sidetone output of the WKUSB-AF to my PC microphone connector. I don't see anything in the manual on how to do this, so I have a few questions before I just plug it in and pray. 1. Does a connection to a PC mic input require any isolation? 2. What about attenuation? I am aware of the need for a stereo connector. Thank in advance, -- 73 de Mike, W1NR THAT was the equation. EXISTENCE!... SURVIVAL... must cancel out... programming! - Ruk -

PTT Revisited 6
Folks, I am trying to use Winkeyer PTT (s/w 30.10, standalone mode) in a bit of an unconventional way. Winkeyer is being used with an older boatanchor station, consisting of a Drake 2-NT transmitter and R4-B receiver. I am also using a Johnson tube-type T/R switch. The challenge is to key the external VFO (a Globe V-10) in a fast enough way so that the running VFO is not heard in the receiver, thereby giving me QSK. I'm currently using Winkeyer PTT to key the VFO, and that is partially working. The VFO is very stable and I can manually key it at high speeds without chirp. However, using Winkeyer PTT to key the VFO, I am experiencing a delay of perhaps one-half second before the VFO shuts off. That's a bit annoying while trying to run full QSK, and I can't seem to get rid of that delay. My PTT hang time is set to 1. From what I read this may be the best I can achieve with the Winkeyer software. I realize most users would not want PTT delay to be so close to zero as I am looking for. Thoughts? --Ed, N3CW--

Only Hearing Sidetone when Function Keys or Paddle is pressed 8
Hello Everyone, I've configured a Winkeyer Mini to run my TS-590SG using N1MM software. Everything is functioning as expected, with one exception. Whenever the paddle keys are pushed or a function key is pushed, there is no morse code being transmitted. Only a sidetone for the time duration set by the speed, which is 26 wpm. Why don't I hear morse code being transmitted? I hear code using the ARCP-590G software from Kenwood. I also hear it and can transmit when using the Demo or Tools software suites. Whenever a Function Button or either paddle is pushed, it only emits a long dash, almost as if it's acting like a straight key. Break-in is on. VOX is on, but doesn't have to be. Everything has been configured per the manual. My configuration is - HP Laptop Windows 10 - Winkey Mini with updated CH340 driver and latest firmware - Latest N1MM software update - TS-590SG - ZN-9ZX Paddle Thanks for your help and hope to work you soon!
