K45 will not let me load messages or tags

SCU Staff All Messages By This Member #10437 ?The manual says I get the screen from figure 9 page 12 of the manual when I press shift and a function key( F1-F12). Instead I get a \1 for f1 or \5 for f5? and can not enter any messages. also enter does not seem to end the message... Any help would be appricated... ? John K0DYY
