My rig won't work with FLrig
9
Jason, how do you work linBPQ for a Winlink gateway when the IC-2100 doesn't work with FLrig. I bring up PAT, winlink packet modem, and it prompts me to setup FLrig. You showed a radio FT-2890 using a signal link in the beginning of your video. That works off of VOX. Thanks, KM6QAQ 73 Sent from AOL on Android

FT-100 and FT-100D Digital Configuration
#digirig
#flrig
#js8call
#pat
#vara
Anyone that has an ancient FT-100(D), like me, and DigiRig, running Flrig/Pat/VARA HF, I have listed the settings in the rig so VARA HF will work. FT8 and JS8Call don't seem to be as picky, but they work after applying the settings below. Follow KM4ACK's YouTube tutorial to setup the software. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=47SkH0iCEOQ&t=976s Menu 28 AFSK LEVEL: 20 (50 default) Play with to get to max output with as small a Menu 28 number as possible. Adjust power slider in JS8 or FTX to get 3 ALC bars. 34 AFSK MODE: PCK-U (PCK-F Default) 38 PACKET DISPLAY: 0 (2125 Default) 39 PACKET TONE: 1170 (2125 Default) (Must set before 38) 56 SQL/RF GAIN: rF (59L Default) 61 TUNER/ATAS: oFF Front Panel MTR: ALC DNR, DNF, DBP: All off SPL AGC: FST 2.4 Aaron KD6FLM

No Tx when using VARA
12
I am running an FT-100D, Pi4 4 GB RAM, and a Drigirig; this setup has been working with JS8Call for many months. I am having issues getting my setup to transmit with FLRIG, PAT, and VARA HF; eventually, the "connection" times out. I have followed KM4ACK's YouTube tutorial several times and still no go. I did a clean install, twice, of the 64-bit Pi OS as the Pi originally had 32-bit Pi OS. I installed all the previous apps and got them configured, minus CONKY; CONKY will not go into transparent mode, another problem. My last step was to install apps for VARA. FLRIG test button does get the radio to transmit. If there is a post that covers my problem, please point me to it; several searches did not turn up anything. Thanks for the help. Aaron KD6FLM

Starting from scratch again - part 4
9
Hi Folks, I have tried to install '73 Linux' on a new 8GB Pi5. Conky is blank and I cannot access the Pi (or any other device) via VNC Viewer. Even though I have the official power supply (27w) I am getting a message that is inadequate. The SD card is new and a good one. I have tried to be very careful and have installed '73 Linux' on a number of machines in the past. No problems. This was to be the summer computer for antenna experiments. I have used a 3B+ until recently and it has worked grand although as of a few minutes ago I could not connect to my LAN. I am also no longer able to power down normally as in the past, I have to just unplug the psu. Am I missing something really obvious here? TIA, Tryg --

Cant get 73 Linux to run
I bought one of the WOWE mini computers like Jason has the video. I did everything git hub to KM4ACK, copied the install commands and even went back and installed git. It all finished and just set there nothing came up for me to enter my call sign. I came out of terminal mode and just have a Linux Mint screen no evidence of 73Linux ever touching it. Problems with fresh install of 73 Linux and WSJT-X through digirig no TX power likely sound settings related
2
No transmit power with WSJT-X on RPI 3 running bullseye using FT857D and Digirig , I believe it's low/no input into the RPI but can't seem to fix it :( I've been using my laptop with WSJT-X with no issues, I wanted to setup the RPI so I could run FT8 without having to be in front of the rig. The RPI3 has a fresh install of 73Linux over the stock OS. FLRig finds the radio and cat control and PTT tests both check out ok. I have adjusted the RF gain and have no problems with RX audio I am able to RX and decode but when I go to call CQ or make a QSO the radio goes into TX and I see no output power on the tuner. This leads me to believe that there is a problem with the audio exiting the RPI headed to the digirig. I had TX power once briefly when tuning. I have opened alsamixer and turned off any muting I can find and turned the gain down to zero to boost the levels. Something is missing though...

12 volt to 5 volt converter
10
Anyone have favorable experiences with any of the 12 to 5 volt @5 amp converters that are out there. There are a bunch of them on Amazon but the reviews are all over the place and indicate issues depending on the end use. I'm building a Pi5 for of grid use. Thanks, Greg NZ6E

Update to the YAAC & Dierwolf
6
I'm trying to figure out why YAAC can not pick up Localhost:8000. The Port been selected in the AWG setting in YAAC. In the Dierwolf Config AWG port is 8000, kissport:8001. The screen cap is via my Anydesk remote look. 73 Don Poaps New Westminster, BC VA7DGP DATA VA7QU VOICE Winlink: va7dgp@... 64 bit software
Is there a list or repository showing the 64 bit software for the Raspberry pi 5 and bookworm. Doesn't make sense running 32 bit when you have the additional horsepower of the Pi 5 and 64 bit Bookworm. TIA Greg NZ6E

QUESTION regarding Dierwolf and YAAC
I'm in the process of setting up Dierwolf and YAAC. Dierwolf if I attempt to start in terminal errors out. I know Jason KM4ACK has done script in downloading etc. I have added my call, PTT cm108. When I go to setup for AWG. I think I answer my question. I should have check off Pat Menu I think?? I'm doing this remotely using Anydesk. My screen is small on my laptop and my main monitor is in another room. Back to figuring it out. 73 Don Poaps New Westminster, BC VA7DGP DATA VA7QU VOICE Winlink: va7dgp@... 73Linux and HSTools
4
Hi, I am new to this topic but I was not able to find HSTools in the latest BuiltaPI aka 73Linux. I decided to refresh the install on my PI4 and I quicky discovered that that there is a new distribution called 73Linux. This is fine but, the key component HSTools seems to be missing. I have run the installation command just for the HSTools and then I manually added the HSTools to the menu. However, when there is no WiFi signal available the AP on the PI does not start automatically like it used to. Which turns the entire installation useless outside of the house. I wonder if I did something wrong or perhaps this is a "feature" or a bug. Thank you for your help! Tom

TS-2000 PTT Setup Issues
6
Folks, Laptop with Linux Mint and 73 Linux installed. Pre-mobile Digirig interface kit. I’ve set up my Kenwood TS-2000 many times before on Windows computers and with Build-a-pi. I have it working fine for CAT control - changes frequency, rig control, but PTT is giving me fits no matter what setting I try. It typically likes +12v RTS but now that turns on transmit all the time. RTS/CTS isn’t friendly to it either - locks up FLrig. I’ve been shutting off the rig to try and reset that. Most of the time I’m having to reboot as I don’t know something similar to task manager is a thing in LM. Curious if anyone in the community is still running a TS-2000 and has found a solution. Thanks, KM6QAQ 73

Winlink on Raspberry Pi with LinBPQ - error 98
3
Followed Jason's video noted on the topic. Issue 1 - During setup, and entry of web control Bpq automatically dropped in a Telnet port. When I run screen -r bpq it's giving me a Telnet error failed port 8080 error 98. I used a command someone offered in the threads to see what other applications were using that port and it said TCP. I note that I have this port selected within Pat configuration menu. The assumptin is that they are conflicting. If this is the case which one should I change and what port number is everyone using? Issue 2 - I noted Persist and slottime warnings while watching screen -r dw. Saw the same thing on Jason's video in the background. Screen -r dw mentions to check the Direwolf user manual for settings. I noted for comms transmit a few more entries that weren't called out in the Direwolf.conf file. I entered them, rebooted, and the warning went away but my gateway stopped responding to my terminal connection requests. I went back in and removed the comments, saved the file, and rebooted. Still can't get my gateway to transmit like it was. Does changing the direwolf.conf file change other files or random settings for transmit? Thank you, KM6QAQ 73

Help with going forward
7
Good evening, I am wanting to build a digipeater using an FT2980R. I have 73Linux installed on a designated PC, I have the radio and antenna all set up. I have a digirig lite with appropriate cable for the radio. And I have about 120 cash to buy anything else I would need. Could someone steer me in the right direction because I feel like I am striking out. Thanks in advance! -Larry K0HIO

In 73 Linux, how do I configure PTT to be by RTS of COM port?
7
I have a DigiRig Mobile in "Logic Levels Configuration." It is not sending to my Yaesu FTM-500D. Digi Tech Support says: "Yes, PTT will not work unless you specifically configure it to be by RTS signal of COM port. This subject is covered on page 56 of the direwolf manual: https://packet-radio.net/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/Direwolf-User-Guide.pdf" The part of the manual he's referring to says: 9.2.8.1 PTT with serial port RTS or DTR To use a serial port (either built-in or a USB to RS232 adapter cable), use an option of this form: PTT device-name [-]rts-or-dtr [ [-]rts-or-dtr ] For Windows the device name would be COM1, COM2, etc. For Linux, the device name would probably be something like /dev/ttyS0 or /dev/ttyUSB0. You can also use the Windows format. COM1 is converted to /dev/ttyS0, COM1 is converted to /dev/ttyS1, and so on. I have NO idea where to put that information. Unlike Windows, on Linux is it in the DireWolf config file? ` All I know is that my DigiRig is viewed as Card 3, Device 0 (zero), and it’s connected to USB 0 (zero) Has anyone else encountered this issue?

Had to quit 73 linux install, how do I resume?
3
I was following Jason's video as he was checking the software to be installed. I checked GPS software to be installed, but when I hit continue, a dialoge asked where the GPPS was connected (it wasn't, only my DigiRig). I hit cancel, and it closed the install process. How do I get back to that? I won't select GPS this time. When I re-ran the GitHub install command, it said there was already a 73 Linux directory in my home folder. I just want to restart the software selection process. Does anyone know the command to do that?
