Welcome!!
Welcome! This group is primarily for discussing my scripts and how to configure them for different setups. However, all Raspberry Pi conversation is encouraged. Please be respectful at ALL TIMES. Let's try to help one another out without demeaning anyone. I will jump in and answer as many questions as I can but may not be able to respond to everyone. It is near impossible for me to help setup a radio that I don't own and have no experience with. By building community, others with similar setups may be able to offer a helping hand. This is the purpose of community. Fix for Conky background on Pi (Wayland)
From this post - /g/KM4ACK-Pi/message/13625 credit - Robert Nazro These changes should be made in the .conkyrc file found in your home directory. Note the "." in front of the file name. This indicates that it is a hidden file. OK changing the gap-y =10 to: gap_y = 50, moved the conky box down below the task bar. That change along with: own_window = true, own_window_type = 'normal', own_window_transparent = false, own_window_hints = 'undecorated,sticky,skip_taskbar,skip_pager,below', own_window_colour = '#000000', own_window_argb_visual = true, own_window_argb_value = 0, Note: I edited the last value to 0 instead of his recommended 15. -- 73, de KM4ACK YouTube | Tip Jar Twitter | Store Patreon

Raspberry Pi no longer recognized
7
Hello, all - Jason’s intro stated “... all Raspberry Pi conversation is encouraged...”, so this is not exactly about his scripts, but it is about an RPi 4 built using the “Build A Pi.” I did my Raspberry Pi build using the “Build a Pi” script (after Jason graciously helped me and put me on the right path) and it installed... flawlessly. For a few weeks I could access it via my Mac or my iPad using VNC Viewer. Last night...nothing. An app I have for finding IP addresses can’t detect the Raspberry Pi’s WiFi. When plugged in to the router via the Cat 5 cable? Nothing. It’s detected nowhere. At Jason’s suggestion I checked to see if my router’s IP address had changed, but nope. I’m not well versed in Linux, routers, etc. I can follow directions and slowly learn, but this one’s over my head. I’m about ready to reformat the SD card and start all over, but before I do, I wonder if anyone has had something similar happen. 73, Paul (N1HOB)

I've been lurking on the YouTube channel and procrastinating for a while (there's a Pi-3 somewhere in my shack, still boxed up). Some of the commands stir old memories of Solaris from work but I'm really starting from scratch and here to learn. ARRL FD will be very different this year and I'm planning to operate from home class 2E, totally on battery, I'm hoping to use my Raspberry Pi with an iPad for FT8 as well as logging. 73 Bill AF4B EM12

Makerfire Dockerpi
10
Howdy everyone, A quick question for those in the group that have installed the Dockerpi-does anyone have a nice case that it will fit in off the rack and with the rtc installed on top? I sliced and diced my cheap plastic kit case with the dremel which will do for now, but I'd like something that looks better. Thanks to anyone that can help and good to be in this group. 73 KN4EBW Bryan Waller

I'd like to suggest you consider Discourse ( https://www.discourse.org/ ) forum as an alternative to groups.io. It's free for self-host AND open-source based projects (which you would qualify for). You might want to check it out. https://blog.discourse.org/2018/11/free-hosting-for-open-source-v2/

RPi and Yaesu FT 818
7
Good afternoon, I am trying to connect my Raspberry Pi to my Yaesu FT 818. I am attaching a picture of the connection between the radio and the Pi (for simplicity sake). I have a Sabrent USB audio card with dual ended, 3-part, 3.5mm plugs that meet in a Y connection that puts the connections to a single 4 part, 3.5mm jack which is plugged into a Wolphilink. The second USB cable is for CAT control. No matter what I do, I cannot get the signal to transmit. I CAN get JS8CALL to decide though. Any help or suggestions you have are appreciated! On a seemingly unrelated note, my hotspot will activate, but I cannot get the pi to connect to my Wi-Fi. For some reason it will not turn on the wireless interface. Thanks, Jim KI7URL

YAAC Error
4
Yaac failed to set up even though I see a Yaac Client in the Ham Radio > Yaac. It doesn't start or run from Gui or Terminal. I went added YAAC from Source unzipping the Folder already created into YAAC. This is the error I'm getting. Error: Unable to access jarfile YAAC.jar I got Xastir working with my Mobilink TNC3. However, the Fonts are very hard to see. I've been looking for a way to change. 73 Don Poaps New Westminster, BC VA7DGP DATA VA7QU VOICE Winlink: va7qu@... Subject://wl2k

Connecting Android tablet to Pi Model B
2
While I have successfully connected my tablet to the Pi via RaspController for Command Line using SSH, and RealVNC for GUI, this has been through my home network using a wireless dongle on the Pi. I need to connect my Pi with ( Android tablet independent of outside networks; all I want to do at this point is use my tablet as a dumb terminal for the command line. I've tried to make the Pi broadcast it's own wifi network using the dongle, to no avail. I also tried to find an app using bluetooth or USB cable as an alternative, again with no luck. I inherited this old Pi, a and don't have any experience with it...any pointers/advice appreciated.

Ardop
4
Jason 1st Is there any way to insert a delay or click button to connect when selecting a winlink station? What happens is I select a RMS station HF/2M FLRIG doesn't set the frequency of the radio until I hit connect and doesn't give me a chance to hit the tune button/fine tune which is a non issue on 2M but on HF it's an issue. It would be great if there was a way to select an alias and it auto sets the rigs frequency. As of now I have to manually set the frequency ( I've cheated when I add an alias to PAT I ad it's frequency to a FLRIG memory) get everything tuned up and then hit connect. 2nd is there away to get the abort button to work in ARDOP? I can't get it to work , the work around for now is to hit the stop modem button. 3rd is there a list correct mode selections for patmenu? I use a Yaesu FT991A , PKTUSB gets me DATA-USB mode , but every variation I've tried of PKTFM , FM PKT, DATA-FM doesn't work ... now that being said FM does work and I can use that as a mode my OCD wants to use DATA-FM ( I don't use VOX I've set both ADROP and Direwolf both use PTT) Lastly thank you for the amazing work you've done!

#flmsg HF and 2M

#flmsg
I am looking so some additional information (instructions) on creating a message using flmsg and then sending it via ARDOP and also via 2M. Specifically, instructions withing the framework of the Build-A-Pi setup and using the ARDOP GUI and PAT Menu. I have a need to better understand the process for a EMCOMM exercise. Thanks, Ed, KD9FRQ

ARDOP Modulation
5
Good evening, set up my Pi 4B+ per KM4ACK fantastic and clear instructions and working great with one exception: using Pat with ARDOP over HF. I have the Kenwood TS-590SG which has an onboard sound card as well as CAT control both using a single USB. Works great on the Pi with JS8Call. However something just isn't right when i go over to ARDOP. The rig changes mode/frequency and keys up perfectly but there seems to be no modulation going out. When doing the initial calling to make a connection, I watch the wattmeter and it never moves. Rig is set to 25 watts so it should move about 1/4 across the dial. I'm sure it's some silly little configuration I've missed so if maybe somebody can point me in the right direction I would be forever grateful! Thanks!

Direwolf/ARDOP Issues and the latest Buster release (May 2020)
2
It seems as though the latest Buster release (May 2020) is assigning Card 2 to the USB sound card that we all love to use. Previous to this release, it has always assigned Card 1 to the USB sound card. This will likely break the packet modem in Pat Menu & Build-a-Pi. I am going to try to correct this for release candidate 3. If you are running the latest Buster and the packet modem is not working, run the following command: arecord -l (note: last letter is lower case L) Look at the line that begins with "Card". The number following card is the number we need. If it is 1, you are good. If it is 2 then open your direwolf.conf file found in your home directory and look for the following line. It should be around line 70 ADEVICE plughw:1,0 and change to read ADEVICE plughw:2,0 Save, exit, and reboot. Please leave a comment below if you were having this issue and if the above directions corrected it. -- 73, de KM4ACK YouTube | Tip Jar Twitter | Store Patreon
