Owner can't reply to messages

I am suddenly unable to reply to the group messages as a regular member. All I see are the mod choices to lock topic etc. Could you please tell me how to fix that. Thanks.

Hello, I opened a group for people where some of them don't speak English. Hence, I need the possibility to either override, translate or turn off the "Confirm Your Groups.io Subscription" message that new subscribers receive after sending a first registration email Otherwise, people won't reply and never be able to sign up. Which options do I have? Thanks and best regards Armin

change made from outside of group?
4
As moderator, I received the following email message earlier today from groups.io (with an actual name and addresses, of course). I looked through the activity log and it displays the same information. How do I find out who from what group actually made this change? A moderator in another group changed Jane User <new-user@...> 's email address from old-user@... via web

Is there a way to re-send a poll
10
I run a group with some not-computer-savvy seniors in it. I sent out a poll but some said they didn't see it. Is there a way I can send the poll link out to people again (without starting over with the poll)? Thank you, Kristin

moderation of chat feature / possible clearing of the activity log
7
Hello to you all ........ 1/ Firstly - if some one joins into an existing chat, can their input be removed if required to do so by the owner/moderator, or can only the member who made the comment do that ? - I am talking here of say an individual comment with photos attached etc. I can see that the owner/moderator can delete the whole "chat" completely & thereby lose everything but what if he (the owner/moderator) wishes to keep most of the chat ? 2/ Secondly - is there any way of resetting the activity log back to the beginning of the count ? In effect to start again with the whole presentation. Barry

Monthly Reminder
#monthly-notice
This is your monthly subscription reminder for the Group Managers Forum, commonly known as GMF. We are glad you joined our group. Our GMF Group's web resources are open and public. Our Messages archives and Wiki are viewable and searchable by non-members. GMF message archives are indexed by major search engines. Unfortunately, due to Groups.io restrictions, you must be a member of GMF and logged in to access our Files and Photos sections. We expect members to post and act responsibly. Please respect your fellow members' time and attention: strive to be clear, concise and courteous. Our subject matter naturally includes matters of opinion; if you happen to disagree with another member please do so without being rude. Personal attacks are not allowed. Solicitations are off topic and will be deleted without comment. Listing your groups in your signature is perfectly acceptable, but just make sure there's also on-topic content in your post. Attachments are allowed and the judicious use of screen shots and other illustrations is encouraged! All messages sent to GMF are moderated, therefor there will be some delay before your message is posted. This is done to avoid malicious attachments, spam, off-topic messages, and messages from spoofed or compromised mail accounts. Despite these measures, be aware that the bad guys are clever so there's no guarantee that we'll always succeed; you are encouraged to be vigilant against any and all threats arriving via email. Your GMF moderators make no guarantees regarding the safety of emails arriving from this or any other Groups.io address. We are always looking for suggestions from our members to make this group better for all. I can't filter the membership list to see all moderators

I can't filter the membershpip list to see all moderators. I see the check boxes for the filters but the apply button is not there. I am in other groups and I don't have this problem. I am owner of both groups. Ther is another owner on the group I am referring to. Is it possible that he has me restricted?

Technical new member question
5
We have a Pending New Member with a gmail. com email address who has attempted to join a group I support as Moderator/Owner. They have not confirmed account and their activity log says Non confirmed member attempted to send message (multiple times)including they tried to respond to the group's Pending Member letter. I understand that messages are not delivered until those steps are completed. I am wondering if icloud relay proxy is impacting the groups.io new member messaging requirements process. I am not an Apple or a Safari user but my search shows it is a a privacy system within Safari that relays internet interactions to mask the user IP address . Will this potential member have to disable proxy to join to confirm email address to groups.io and to respond to member questions? Thanks for your help - this is beyond my technical expertise. This indicator is prominent on the pending member's page ICLOUD_RELAY_PROX Julie

Reply to group keeps including the original message
16
Is there are setting so that the original message is automatically stripped from the reply? I suspect it might be because some people's email is set up to include original messages and I wont be able to change that so I am hoping groups.io lets me get it automated. Right no I am editing those messages to remove the original and it is not something I want to do. Thanks again for your help and the reminder to Read the Full Manual.

Pending message stay in owner box even after they have been approved
3
Thank you all for your help and patience with our questions. Our group just switched from only one reply option to all options available and its been a chaotic week as I learn the system and people respond to the change. All the messages that I approve and that are for "reply to group" are accumulating in my pending mail box. Can you direct me to the setting where I can have them go away once they are approved? Thanks.

Can a member decide not to receive ¡°reply to group¡± messages?
3
We are testing a switch from offering reply to sender as the only reply option. Now we offer ¡°reply to group and sender¡± as well as just sender or just group or just moderators. People who have set preferences for single emailsare complaining about way too many emails but don¡¯t want to change to digest. Others are happy seeing all the responses. Is there a way to accommodate both sides? Thanks, Emily

Massive Bouncing Members Conundrum
10
G'day, My group lost 1,313 members this morning (AEDT) in one go, almost 31% of our members, through "Bouncing via system". I did a random check of the various members bounced, and they all had on thing in common, which was: Email Delivery set to, "Special Notices Only". Why the apparent sudden purge of this group of members? There was no other commonality I could find between them other than this preference setting. I did check the FAQs on Bouncing but, it doesn't cover this sort of event, and given the large number bounced in one hit, it doesn't make sense. NB: When we moved from Yahoo Groups, we went from just under 10K members, to around 6.5K, which we were expecting. Since then, we've lost (probably) close to two thirds of the remaining membership through Bouncing. It sort of feels like a slow death of many thousand cuts. Luke

Daily Summary email delivery issue?
12
Is there a delivery issue on Daily summaries today? I was alerted by a member of one group I moderate that they had no morning summary. There delivery history showed daily "accepted" every day but not today. Since I often operate from the web site I checked my own email and and realize there was no daily summary delivered to my email today. My email delivery shows no email delivery today nor do several members I checked including a primary fellow moderator. There was activity in our group yesterday so there should be a Daily Summary. Is there a groups.io systemwide issue? IF there is a place I should be checking to find alerts of system wide issues I am not sure where to look - actually that is a good thing because it means this happens so rarely I've never learned how to check for system issues. Both groups I moderate are free, grandfathered if that matters. Also I noted in the activity log that shortly after noon, 12:18 pm (ET) 11 members were suddenly bouncing if that might be related. posting visible to sender and email threads
4
Basically a novice so any help very appreciated. Have 2 questions and wondering if there¡¯s something I haven¡¯t done as the group administrator. 1) When I post or reply to a posting, my message doesn¡¯t show even though I¡¯ve clicked on the preference to receive my copies. I only know for sure it went through if someone else replies. Not sure if this is to all group users or just me but is there something in Settings for this? 2) When some members reply to a message, the thread does not appear. Other times yes, but generally no. Why is the message, or thread, being replied to not show? Thank you! Carlos McDonald

Migrating Old Yahoo Archived Mailing Lists Messages to Groups.IO
7
Hello I'm new on this mailing list, so if I'm in the wrong place asking this, a pointer to the right place will be appreciated. I'm part of the OS/2 Warp community. Since Yahoo Groups went down, we started to use Groups.IO without any issue. We had a lot of useful material on the Yahoo Groups discussion that was backup. But this backup is just plain text and it is not simple for people to search on that discussions or even be indexed by Google. My question, is there any way, or experience on migrating this Yahoo Groups backup text backup into Groups.io? The idea will be to create a read only group to show the messages in an organized way and that can be searchable. If Groups.io is not the ideal place to put this backups, is there any other suggestion? Regards Martin

Group archive discovered to be publicly viewable
3
After several years of assumed security, we have discovered that our group's archive settings allowed 'anyone to view'. We have corrected the settings, so the archive will be viewable only by group members going forward. It's good to know that ' When an archive is publicly viewable, email addresses are always hidden from nonmembers who view the archive' Nevertheless, it would be useful to know if/when the archive has been viewed by nonmembers. Is there a digital record of such views, and if so how can it be accessed? Many thanks. Barry

Member difficulties
2
I run a number of Groups and try to impress on all members to NOT use a work email address and ALWAYS set up a password to enable access to the account in the event of email problems. Do they listen? No. So periodically someone changes their email address, loses access to the old one and has never set up their password for access to their account. and so are locked out. Of course they can join again, but as a different member and hence not associated with previous activities. For a free/Basic Group, of course even the owner cannot fix this, but it wouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility to pay for a month's upgrade to Premium in order to fix the problem, then revert to Basic. However hoping for help with a couple of questions about this:- ? Is it possible to upgrade to Premium for just one month and then revert to Basic? ? When reverting back to Basic, can I be sure we will retain the features we currently have as a pre 2000 Group? Hope someone can help with this. Ken G i l l e t t _/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/

Question: +owner messages
9
Hi, It's probably been asked and answered, but where do I find the +owner messages? I received the message in my ¡°Outlook inbox¡±, but when I look in the groups.io online WEB page, the only place I find any reference to the post is under Admin->activity. I¡¯m sure I¡¯m doing something wrong; please point me in the right direction. Thanks, Ken S. ¡°You do what you can for as long as you can, and when you finally can¡¯t, you do the next best thing. You back up but you don¡¯t give up.¡± ¨DChuck Yeager

Member Display Name Change?
6
Hi Folks, I'm a group moderator, and I was asked by a new member to change her display name, by removing her last name. Went to the record, highlighted her last name and hit delete... nothing. Put the cursor at the end and hit backspace... nothing. Bucked it up to the account owner, and he couldn't do anything with it either. Oddly enough, I *did* receive two groups.io "group notification" emails that said the member's name *had* been changed... but as of just now, before submitting this, the display name in her account shows no change. I shot her an email outlining the steps needed to make the change herself, but it leaves me with a question: why was I (and the group owner) unable to make this change? In checking the Group Owner's manual, it clearly says in section 11.2, third bullet down, "Owners and moderators can edit the Display Name field in individual members¡¯ records (but be aware that members can change their own display names as mentioned above)." Either that's not completely correct, something has been changed and the manual hasn't caught up yet, or we're both doing something wrong. I never bothered to click the "Confirm" button at the bottom of the page, since I couldn't do anything to make the last name letters go away; there was no visible edit TO confirm. Is this where I went wrong in failing to bring about the requested change? Thanks for any clarification you can provide! Karl
