moderation of chat feature / possible clearing of the activity log

Hello to you all ........
?
1/ Firstly - if some one joins into an existing chat, can their input be removed if required to do so by the owner/moderator, or can only the member who made the comment do that ? - I am talking here of say an individual comment with photos attached etc. I can see that the owner/moderator can delete the whole "chat" completely & thereby lose everything but what if he (the owner/moderator) wishes to keep most of the chat ?
2/ Secondly - is there any way of resetting the activity log back to the beginning of the count ? In effect to start again with the whole presentation.
?
Barry? ?

Barry, did you check out the help on chats?
?
It does discuss editing chats, deleting an individual chat message, deleting a chat.?
Does deleting an individual chat message accomplish what you want?
?
You also ask about resetting the activity log back to the beginning of the count - starting again with the whole presentation.?
Have you looked at reopening a closed chat?
?
And you mention moderation of chat feature.?
Help says: ?Group owners determine whether the Chats feature is available in their groups and, if it is, who can create new chats: all members or only owners and moderators.
and
All group members can participate in chats. 开云体育 does not provide a “private” chat option that allows chat creators to restrict chats to subsets of group members.
?
So no moderation. But you can delete a chat message after the fact. Not sure how helpful that is if someone is participating live.
?
I haven't used chat in ? Hopefully others will be able to give more advice!

I have looked into what you have suggested but I cannot see how to delete an "individual" chat only the complete chat. barry

This is beginning to sound like a ("What is the sound of one person chatting?")
?
The chat function is feature-poor, to put things mildly. Among other things, there seems to be no way to delete a single chat entry; and as far as "resetting" it is concerned, the only way is to close (or delete) the chat and start a new one.

My interpretation from what is said here, is that you could have a perfectly good chat ongoing, which could be ruined by a single comment/photo - entering into the frame - disrupting the discussion completely and the only option available, will be to completely delete the whole chat. This is not ideal in my view - barry

dont understand "zen koan" - so I'll ignore it - probably best anyway??

I tried it using the instructions in the Members Manual and it worked.? Admins can delete others messages as well, based on my findings.

Lots of detailed information can be found in the Owners Manual and Members Manual found in the Help Center.

Duane, it’s interesting that one (only admins?) can also delete someone else’s messages and not just one’s own as implied by the instructions to members. However, do you know whether it deletes the message entirely from the chat room or only at your end? For instance, in Facebook I often delete posts I don’t want anything to do with but it doesn’t delete the posts for anyone else. I’m just wondering.
