I have been trying to get FLDigi to work for months. I have watched youtube videos until my brain has turned to mush. I have gone through the user manual. I have reached out to my local club Elmers and they all said they couldn't help (no knowledge). I have it working with the radio using Hamlib. All I get is garbled crap. I get nothing on the waterfall now, I used to, but now nada. There are just some fundamental things that I just haven't grasped. I have FT8/4, JS8, Winlink(on HF) and VarAC all working just fine. So all the rig/CAT and com settings I have a grip on. I guess I'm hoping for someone close to me here in Eastern North Carolina or someone who is willing to spend some time on the phone with me. This doesn't have to happen today (as there is a contest running), after months, what is another few days..... If there is an Elmer out there willing to hold my hand, I would sure appreciate it. 73, Steve KQ4QWH

Earlier Version of Fldigi
18
I am trying to run version 4.2.0.6 on windows 11. It will not work as there is no sound input. I have tried different combinations with the sound devices and nothing helps. I would like to install an earlier version. Is there an archive of the earlier versions? Can you point me to them? thanks Ken K5XOM

Windows unattended install options for flrig/fldigi
Hi, Is there any possibility to add unattended install to windows flrig/fldigi? I ran the latest setup.exe's with /? or -? and could not find anything there or in the manual. Maybe I overlooked something? Thanks!

CQ WW RTTY WPX Contest: 0000Z, Feb 8 to 2359Z, Feb 9
4
Hello, a bit frustrated here..I thought I would try this weekend with my FT-891. I am in Belize and have never used my 891 on RTTY. The current equipment is a Windows 11 PC, FT891, and a digirig. I have used JS8call, WSJT-x, VARAC, digital modes, no problem. Flrig 2.0.0.4 is my rig control and love it. FLdigi 4.2.06 I use for keyboard CW, Wefax and so on. However I am stumped, the online manual for RTTY is for an older version of Fldigi. Here is what happens in different modes with FLrig and Fldigi RTTY-45 - op mode FLdigi set on USB - "per the manual" - nothing happens., no audio FLdigi set on RTTY-L , solid tone FLdigi set on RTTY-U, solid tone Fldigi set on Data-U no tones NOW, If I have Flrig off, then FLdigi only shows RTTY as option but again no tone nothing goes. Anyone out there got a working configuration? 73's V31XE Ed

RxID issue with V. 4.2.06?
10
I recently upgraded to V. 4.2.06 from an earlier version. On the earlier version, the RxID function was working properly, but since the upgrade it is not. I have both RxID and TxID enabled. I am running the program on Windows 7 Pro. No changes that I know of other than the version upgrade to 4.2.06. Is anyone else having this issue? Assuming not, any suggestions? I use Fldigi on a net where we often switch between MT63 and Olivia depending on propagation, and the TxID/RxID functionality is much appreciated. 73, Dave, W9PFD

Odd WF distortion leads to no decode...
6
Dave W1HKJ, All, Running multiple instances of fldigi version 4.2.06.20 on Win 11 very successfully, however when an instance is run for a long period of time I infrequently see some distortion creep in to the WF on one (sometimes 2) instances. When this happens, decode becomes degraded or stops only on the instance where I see the pattern like trace below: From a concurrent iteration, that same signal looks like this: Obviously it is not the rig or the OS audio system. It has happened for several versions back. It happens with fldigi using many different modems. Frustrating, because I have never been at the operating position when it does happen. It is always resolved by exiting the iterations that show the problem and restarting them. Everything seems to run fine for quite some time afterward. 1. Has anyone else seen this? 2. Any clue what might be happening? Thanks and 73, -- Jack Spitznagel KD4IZ FM19oo Parkton, MD

No sound
7
Hello. I am trying to use Fldigi to decode my practice CW from my FTDX-10. I had this working before with a Windows 10 computer but I cannot seem to get it working with Windows 11. I did search the group and saw some posts regarding this issue but unfortunately was not able to resolve the issue. Fldigi does connect to the radio, i.e it the correct frequency is displayed on the computer, but trying to input sound from the headphone or speaker jack of the radio into either the front or the rear input of the computer brings no sound to fldigi. I tried using this this: Headset Splitter, 3.5mm Headphone Mic Splitter Cable for Headset with Separate Audio Microphone Jacks, Microphone Headphone Splitter to connect the sound from the FTDX-10 and I had it working in the past, but it does not seem to be working now no matter what I do. Thanks in advance for any assistance Steve W6QX

No Modulation with Ftdx101D
You might find it interesting to read briefly about the difference twixt FSK and AFSK. Just the mode differences, without referring to the digi mode (RTTY, PACTOR, etc.) that use them. For example, I can put my Kenwood TS-480 into FSK mode, but I can't put my TS-830S onto FSK mode because it doesn't have that. Instead, I can use it for AFSK. Once you read about these two modes, it will be much clearer. 73 Rich NE1EE (a different Rich :-) The Dusty Key On the banks of the Piscataqua On 2025-02-01 03:33:, daniel lavocat via groups.io wrote: >Hello Rich > >ve3ki via Groups.Io a ¨¦crit le 31/01/2025 22:09 : >>RTTY-L is for FSK RTTY, using a keyed input to switch the carrier between Mark and Space frequencies. Hello Rich thank you very much I didn't know that because I always did RTTY in RTTY-L mode on the FTdx101D :-) indeed I just made my first QSO with FLDigi being in DATA mode it works very well A very big thank you RICH I had absolutely not thought of that ... 73 ve3ki via Groups.Io a ¨¦crit le 31/01/2025 ¨¤ 22:09 : -- 73 from Daniel F6FLU -- https://F6FLU.org -- Dan - F6FLU

No Modulation with Ftdx101D
6
Hello I'm trying to restart FLDigi after having given up a long time ago Apparently I have the CAT, it decodes well but if I click on a macro to switch to transmission it sends a continuous carrier no modulation I think it's a setting linked either to Hamlib or the internal sound card of my FTdx101D ? Can you help me ? Thanks Dan - F6FLU

"Save Config" does not work
5
Using Windows11, Fldigi v.4.2.06 and Flrig v.2.0.05 I'm trying to configure these softwares with a QRP-Labs QDX, mainly for use of RTTY mode. I succeeded in configuring both "Rig control" and "Soundcard - Devices" and everything works nicely. BUT, even after clicked on "Configure" then "Save config" on top of Fldigi screen the configuration is not properly saved since next time I restart Fldigi I need to open the Configuration again and click on Portaudio in Soundcard-Devices: Portaudio does not remain checked. Any idea to help solve this inconvenience? 73 - Pierre - FK8IH

Fldigi K4D Bandwidth Control
14
I can't seem to get the bandwidth setting to control my K4D. Everything seems to work, just not the Bandwidth. Dave can you shed some light on this? Is there something missing out of the xml file? Several people I have contacted using the K4D are experiencing the same issue. -tp

Link to W1HKJ software URL goes to wrong site
13
We should recall that [apparently] some browsers change the http address to https, and ~that~ points elsewhere...the source of many complaints in the past, and many posts here, as research shows why folks were/are getting redirected. So look carefully at the URL in the browser search field, and if it has been changed to https from http, change it back. This means that while you may have clicked a link that began with http://www.w1hkj you may be sent instead to a link beginning with https://www.w1hkj I did some research...out of my wheelhouse, unfortunately...and found that The British Sundial Society does exist here https://sundialsoc.org.uk/ I was planning to ask why they are using https://www.w1hkj, only to find that ~they~ likely are not. It seems to me after some research that this is a DNS problem, not a browser problem, and I don't know how to approach fixing it. The certificate error occurs [apparently] because some service changes http to https, then sends that to a DNS server for resolution. If that particular DNS has a bad link, folks get sent to the BSS in a comedy of errors. http gets changed to https, apparently because http wasna resolved in the correct time frame by the in-use DNS server, and that link gets incorrectly resolved to the BSS site. I have had this redirect problem in the past, but not for the past year or 2, so it seems that the problem is cleared up on my end. But I can force the error by specifying https, so the bad link is out there in DNS-land. I dunno who fixes such things. Maybe ICANN can ;-) but I can't ;-) 73 Rich NE1EE The Dusty Key On the banks of the Piscataqua

getting flmsg and flamp to auto start

I have downloaded the latest version of fldigi and am trying to get Flmsg and flamp to load for autostart. On earlier versions of fldigi there was a way to do it from the control panel, but I am not seeing that on the new version. fldigi CW decoding problems
18
I'm having a problem with my fldigi (v4.2.06) and CW decoding. During the recent CQ WW DX CW contest, I used it (connected to the club's IC-7300) and more than 80-90% of the time, even on a fairly 'strong' signal, it either wouldn't decode (gave me gibberish) even when I had the selector (I think that's what it's called) directly ON the signal and/or decoded the wrong call, or just part of the call, then gibberish again. If it had decoded correctly, I MIGHT have been able to log quite a few more contacts than what I did (only 94 contacts total for the whole contest). Now I realize that hand-sent CW and machine-sent CW aren't the same thing, but I'll bet that a majority of CW contesters (even the DX ones) are using either fldigi or something similar to it, based on the speeds I was seeing on some of them (I don't think there's very many CW ops that can hand send CW at more than 35 WPM, but occasionally, my fldigi was reporting 40, even 45 WPM on some potential contacts. What fldigi setting(s) could/should I set mine for in order for it to decode correctly/properly/more accurately, without giving me much (if anything) in the way of gibberish on decodes? In order to even see the signals on the waterfall, I had to set the Upper signal level (down in the lower left corner, near the "WF/FFT/SIG" button) to at least a -45 dB and when Tx'ing, my Tx level attenuator was set at (normally) -5 or -6 dB; should they be set at those levels, or what? Also, is there anything (settings) on the radio itself that could/should change in addition to the fldigi changes? In the Config dialog, under Modem > CW > General, I have the following settings: SOM decoding: unchecked WPM Tracking: checked Filter bandwidth: ~83, Matched Filt' checked Rx WPM: ~67, Range is "10" Transmit: ~20 char WPM Default: 20, Lower Limit: 5, Upper Limit: 50 Use Farnsworth timing: unchecked Use Wordsworth timing: unchecked Upper right corner, Signal Tracking: Attack: Med Decay: Slow So what else am I missing here? What other thigs should/could I set differently for better (read, more accurate) decodes? Mike, W1DGL Prescott, AZ (DM34sm/so - "sm" is my home QTH, "so" is the club station QTH)

Alert sound files

I tried to set up alerts with audio files. Are the sound files included in the FLDIGI files or do I need to download them? What more do I need to do to make them work?
