Link to W1HKJ software URL goes to wrong site
We should recall that [apparently] some browsers change the http address to https, and ~that~ points elsewhere...the source of many complaints in the past, and many posts here, as research shows why folks were/are getting redirected.
So look carefully at the URL in the browser search field, and if it has been changed to https from http, change it back. This means that while you may have clicked a link that began with you may be sent instead to a link beginning with I did some research...out of my wheelhouse, unfortunately...and found that The British Sundial Society does exist here I was planning to ask why they are using , only to find that ~they~ likely are not. It seems to me after some research that this is a DNS problem, not a browser problem, and I don't know how to approach fixing it. The certificate error occurs [apparently] because some service changes http to https, then sends that to a DNS server for resolution. If that particular DNS has a bad link, folks get sent to the BSS in a comedy of errors. http gets changed to https, apparently because http wasna resolved in the correct time frame by the in-use DNS server, and that link gets incorrectly resolved to the BSS site. I have had this redirect problem in the past, but not for the past year or 2, so it seems that the problem is cleared up on my end. But I can force the error by specifying https, so the bad link is out there in DNS-land. I dunno who fixes such things. Maybe ICANN can ;-) but I can't ;-) 73 Rich NE1EE The Dusty Key On the banks of the Piscataqua |

Hi,
Please take this criticism respectfully: If I do a search on FLDIGI I get: If I then click on the giant green button labeled DOWNLOAD directly below the giant white FLDIGI file icon, it links to: which then downloads FLAMP, not FLDIGI. Why not just send the DOWNLOAD button on the FLDIGI page to the FILES section directly, which contains FLDIGI, and not force a download of a program I did not request like FLAMP?? This seems overly confusing, and I would bet you many people just go off wondering what happened... 73, and thanks, Dave (NK7Z) ARRL Volunteer Examiner ARRL Technical Specialist, RFI ARRL Asst. Sometimes erroneous DNS references are due to a corrupted DNS resolver cache on one's own computer or network. It can help to flush that cache, forcing the DNS server you are using to replace it. In Windows, the cache can be flushed using the command
? ipconfig /flushdns
Success results in the display of the following line:
? Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache.
?
For instructions for other OSs, do a search for "flush DNS resolver cache".
?
It may also be that the DNS server you are using is wrong. That is solved by specifying a different one in your computer's or network's configuration. For that, try a search on "change DNS server". This change is not difficult to do.

If I understand your scenario correctly, what you are seeing is an issue (or "Bug" Feature) with Sourceforge.

I have noticed on other Sourceforge projects that the download button always points to the LAST file uploaded, and has nothing to do with anything else.? The button only works when the Sourceforge project has exactly one and only one downloadable object. When I use Sourceforge, I ignore their buttons and go directly to the "files" option under the main menu where I can pick and choose what I want. /s/ Bill Turner, wb4alm On 9/26/24 09:10, Dave (NK7Z) wrote:

Hi Dave,
Unfortunately the fldigi project on sourceforge has multiple downloadable packages. Sourceforge in their wisdom provides a quick button the latest uploaded. This might not be the package you want.
I don't think that the fldigi team have any control over the way that sourceforge presents their offerings.
The text next to the Download button identifies the package that will be downloaded. I assume this showed it was the flamp package. It would have had flamp in its name.

I am going to have to to this for FLDIGI I guess...? Not sure why this happens on FLDIGI, but not say on, WSJT, but it is who knows.? I am just glad FLDIGI is around!? It is a great multimode piece of software. 73, and thanks, Dave (NK7Z) ARRL Volunteer Examiner ARRL Technical Specialist, RFI ARRL Asst. The following applies only to Microsoft Edge, although other browsers may have similar features.
?
By default, Edge redirects http:// requests to https://. You can disable this feature by navigating to edge://flags/#edge-automatic-https and selecting "Disabled" from the dropdown. Once I did this, the fldigi "Online documentation..." link went to the correct site.
?
Hope this helps
