Hello.
I am trying to use Fldigi to decode my practice CW from my FTDX-10. I had this working before with a Windows 10 computer but I cannot seem to get it working with Windows 11. I did search the group and saw some posts regarding this issue but unfortunately was not able to resolve the issue. Fldigi does connect to the radio, i.e it the correct frequency is displayed on the computer, but trying to input sound from the headphone or speaker jack of the radio into either the front or the rear input of the computer brings no sound to fldigi. I tried using this this: Headset Splitter, 3.5mm Headphone Mic Splitter Cable for Headset with Separate Audio Microphone Jacks, Microphone Headphone Splitter to connect the sound from the FTDX-10 and I had it working in the past, but it does not seem to be working now no matter what I do.
Thanks in advance for any assistance

So I have been working and have made some progress I decided to use an external USB sound card and that seemed to help. It seems like for some reason the windows 11 mixer is turning down the volume for fldigi and I don't understand why or how to fix this. Copilot suggest to turn up the PCM in the fldigi app but I do not seem to be able to find the audio mixer in fldigi.

Change your default playback and record device to something else and the mixer should work.

Especially your playback device. Some computer don't have a 2nd recording device and it's not absolutely necessary to avoid that one. If your rig is the default playback than all your computer sounds will go out your rig. Mike W9MDB On Monday, November 4, 2024 at 08:08:29 PM CST, Steven Edenson via groups.io <stevenpe1@...> wrote:

Windows 11 complicates the audio routing. It might be considered an improvement, but it adds an extra step to audio software configuration that was not required under Windows 10. In Windows 10, your audio device shows up in the ham radio software list of available audio devices. You choose the correct device, usually some form of "USB Audio Codec" and off you go. This doesn't work in Windows 11 without first performing an extra bit of configuration in the Windows Sound Settings. First, go into the Sound Settings and select your default sound devices for the PC/HDMI/etc., and you may choose to set that as your "Default for audio" and "Default for communications". You do not want to choose your transceiver or audio device (signalink, digirig, etc) as the default device. Then launch the amateur radio program (this applies to fldigi, js8call, Vara Modem, wsjtx etc.) and you should see in the sound settings an option to choose the audio device for that application to use. Choose your transceiver USB audio codec (or other mic/speaker) here. Do this for each amateur radio program you operate for data modes. One nice feature of the Windows 11 audio system is you can change the name or label of an audio device in the sound settings. So instead of having "USB Audio Codec" and "USB Audio Codec 2", I have "Kenwood TS-590SG" and "Icom IC-7200" as my device labels. This makes it easy if I want to swap which radio a piece of software is using for its audio in/out. Once you have the devices configured per application, you can set the audio levels as you would normally. fldigi doesn't have a mixer control, but it does have an attenuator at the bottom right of the main window which affects your audio output level from the software. This is the easiest place to control your output to avoid overdriving. This is all good advice...while W11 ~does~ make virtually ~everything~ more difficult, IMO, these are still good recommendations to follow. Note that the attachments that appeared on the digirig forum apply as well to SignaLink; hence the embedded SL comment about versions of SL.

Hello Dan,
Man this has been a chore trying to get Fldigi to get sound from the IC 7300 in windows11.
I have been using Fldigi on a laptop with windows 10 on it with no problem.
Now I am trying to run Fldigi on a laptop with windows 11. And cannot get sound input.
In your instructions, You say go into the Sound Settings and select your default sound devices for the PC/HDMI/etc.
Before I do this, is the IC-7300 supposed to be connected to the laptop?
If it is, then Speaker USB Audio Codec is available and so is Microphone USB Audio Codec.
Do I pick these?
Or do I pick Speaker Realtek Audio and Microphone Realtek Audio.
thanks
