Thd biggest thing is on brushes and comutator is they are clean. Now it gets harder to find. Check to see if electric at motor wire is DC. On some motors I would take wire come out motor and use DC

The brushes can be filed. There are stick for comutator cleaning that stick though the brush and clean up the comutator. You can glue a 220 grit sand paper dot on end dowl that does something.?

Progress!! I turned the lathe around, I was surprised how heavy the lathe is. I removed the shield, and the motor cover. I also removed the control panel from the front so that I could inspect
