LINE IN LV and LINE OUT LV

Under the radio settings I see entrees for LINE IN LV and LINE OUT LV. Can someone tell me what these settings impact? As far as I can tell there is no line level input connector. Does the S/P connector somehow double as an input and output? Thanks, Dan

Noise level out of control

X6100 on 10m with a Dummy load noise level is at S3 is I press PPT when I let go Noise level jump to S6 to S9 for a second them goes back to S3 is that normal? I have add a video is this normal I have never had this issue with any other radio.....

Hi. This release have some fixes and improvements of UI responsiveness. I added a new theme (screenshot below). You can switch to original theme with in the settings. Also - I updated LCD panel driver parameters for better match sRGB color space. It's still not ideal, but better, than was (hope, not only on my radio). Hi. Original BASE firmware applies bandpass filter to input signal. Cutoff frequencies is 300 Hz and 3000 Hz. I checked with different modulations (AM, FM, SSB, SSB digital) by passing a noise signal as an input. For my point of view 300 Hz is too high. I patched firmware and changed this frequency to 160 Hz. Also, I recorded some samples using my SDR, original X6100 microphone, using SSB modulation. I tried to reproduce same conditions for each of records, but for the recording with 160 Hz filter I forgot to turn off my analog compressor. I prepared 2 patched versions: for 1.1.6 BASE (2022) and for 1.1.7 BASE (latest, 2024) Audio samples and patched firmware available at https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1q9vJ-2Y2BAg6koX__cqdZlZOfNnTzmEj?usp=drive_link Disclaimer: I tested it on my transceiver, but can't guarantee, that it will work on your device. Installing procedure: 1. Connect transceiver to WiFi 2. Connect to transceiver with WinSCP (or FileZilla) 3. Copy one (or both) of the xgf files from link above to the /usr/firmware. 4. Open System settings -> Firmware upgrade on transceiver, choose uploaded file and update. 5. X6100 Internal Battery Issue

Looking for a fix for the x6100. The radio operates just fine on external power. However, the radio will not turn on with the internal battery though it is full. I rarely use the radio so not sure what the issue is. Any suggestions or recommendations welcome.

Wrong signals on the bound of the waterfall/spectrum.

Hi. I always knew, that strong stations close to + or - 50 kHz from central is shown on the both sides of the waterfall/spectrum. I performed a test with a CW tone generator. Generator freq is 21.200. When tuning to ~ 21.250 peak jumps to opposite side of the waterfall/spectrum and continue movement at least until 25.262. The same behavior when tuning to opposite direction. So, when I tune my radio to 21.200 (for example), region (-50 ... -40) on the spectrum/waterfall shows me a sum of signals from 21.150 ... 21.160 (correct range) and from 21.250 ... 21.260 (incorrect range). Same for +40 ... +50 region. I recorded a video - https://photos.app.goo.gl/wZnQYb6pQ3Dy6UHx7 On other bands the same (I checked 40m, 20m, 15m, 10m). Also, it's not related with the GUI app - I tested with R1CBU firmware. The reason might be a not enough filtering signal before ADC, or something else. My question is how much devices has the same behavior? If it very common - I'll exclude boundary regions (10 or 12 kHz) and scale remains data to full width on R1CBU FW. This way waterfall/spectrum with zoom level 1 will cover ~80 kHz, instead of 100kHz, but without annoying wrong signals. 73, Georgy // R2RFE

Problems charging internal battery / R1CBU/R2RFE firmware

Hi to all, I've noticed some problems regarding charging X6100 internal battery while using firmware R1CBU/R2RFE 0.28. Battery was weak (7V or so) so I decided to charge overnight with OEM charger unit. Switched "charger on" in the R1BCU firmware, set power off and then inserted OEM charger unit. Green LED starts, but not flashing, was permanently on. (This normally means "battery full"...) But left it charging anyway. Next day when I get the charger off and started the X6100, the internal battery was completely empty. By switching off the DC, the transceiver suddenly shut down. So tried new charge cycle using OEM firmware (1.1.9 / 1.1.8), but with the same result. Green LED is still glowing permanently and the battery does not charge. Power supply shows a consumption of only 0.9 Watts, too less. What happenend? Battery damaged while charging? Issue with battery management? Firmware problem? Should we set "charge on" with R1CBU or OEM firmware or both? What means "charger shadow" in the R1BCU fimware? Anyone out there who has experienced such a case? X6100 JS8Call problem

I'm trying to set up my x6100 to use JS8Call. CAT turns green but when I hit the "Test PTT" I get: Rig Failure, Hamlib error: Communication timed out while setting current VFO mode. Can anyone provide me with good settings so that maybe I can find what I am doing wrong? TIA, Bobbi

Have somehow corrupted my base software. Display shows but radio is dead. Have tried re-installing various firmware versions no good. Thanks for any suggestions

R1CBU FT8

I had upgrade to 1.1.9/1.1.8 and everything but the MODEM decoders seemed to work. I even like the new gain distribution where RF Gain is set to 100 for S9=73uV. So I did some experimenting. In app version 1.1.7, the MODEM decoders work as well as can be expected. But I don't like the red text, so I put the x6100u_ui_v100 from the 1.1.9 app into the 1.1.7 /usr/app_qt directory of the radio and got all the UI improvements of 1.1.9 in the 1.1.7 with good Modems. In fact, when I check the system info on the X6100, it says 1.1.9/1.1.8. I am a happy camper now. I hope further testing will prove good as well. Gary W9TD

Faulty VFO encoder repaired
Try to keep it short. Bought a radio with duff encoder, 6 pin FFC connector badly damaged by a previous owner. Sent tiny board away to a guy to replace the connector so could then fault find with a breakout board. One of the 74HC single inverters was faulty ,so the off to the smd guy again with spare inverters,came back fitted now have good encoder. Was using the radio via remote software & fist mic to get by. R1CBU Firmware - FT8

OK - following on from the FT8 questions.. For some reason, since this morning, I have not been able to get more that 2w out on FT8 / FT4 and when tuning the ATU. I have tried updating the X6100's base firmware and also created another R1CBU Firmware disk (multiple SD cards used) which does not overcome the problem. If I run the native firmware everything seems to work OK and the output levels are normal - But as soon as I boot into the R1CBU Firmware things do not seem to work as they used to. I have also noticed that the "Output Power Reduced to 5W" message is missing. Can someone suggest a fix please ?

TX not working with FT8

My X6100 stopped TXing when using FT8. I've tried WSJTX and MSHV, using FLRIG and Hamlib. I've also tried Factory Reset and reinstalled the 1.19/1.18 firmware from Radioddity. Any suggestions? Has the R1CBU firmware solved this issue for anyone? Thanks for any help! Tony KE1TLG

How to preserve personal settings between R1CBU firmware upgrades?

I have a question... I upgraded to v0.28 and love it a lot. But every time I upgrade I have to redo all my settings. I understand that there's a way to backup and then reload my settings... Someone suggested backing up “data”? Can somebody give a summary on how to do that? Would be grateful... redoing it every time is no fun. 73, Randy K7RAN P.S. Firmware 1.1.9 - lower Buttons problem
Yesterday I updated to firmware 1.1.9 but now the lower buttons have a malfunction. If I press RADIO SETTING1 the SYSTEM SETTING menu appears.. if I press EXIT .. the RADIO SETTING1 menu appears regularly. If I press RADIO SETTING2 the MEMORY menu appears.. if I press EXIT RADIO SETTING2 appears regularly. Unfortunately, as regards the CW menu (KEY button) now the two buttons on the left do not work correctly and I cannot change the type of button or speed. If instead I connect a mouse to the USB port and select the various menus from the display .. everything works regularly. I also tried to do a FACTORY RESET and return to the old firmware (1.1.7) but the problem remains. Has this happened to anyone of you?

Radio gets noise on RX when on Battery Alternative Firmware v0.28.0

I have a strong noise on all bands when using Battery with Alternative Firmware v0.028.0 -Problem is shown on RX. -I don't see that on TX but I hear my own voice on the speaker if I call SSB. Monitoring level is at 0. -Shows up at beginning of the band and at the end. -With or without antenna. -Noise goes to minimal, but still there, when the screen dims out after a few seconds not touching the VFO or any button in the radio. -Goes up again, as soon as I wake up the radio by touching the VFO or any other button. -Goes off as soon as I plug in the external power. In brief: The problem is not there or does not show up if using external power. With Battery the radio shows 7.8V on the screen. With external power shows 13.6V on the screen Happens in all bands. Hi Gang, I'm loving the R1CBU et al firmware running on a memory card. Since I started playing with it I've logged 288 FT8 contacts. It's surprising what 5 watts can do and it will be great for POTA and other uses. No extra toys other than an antenna required. Setting FT8 with firmware v0.28.0

Hello, everyone, I need a little help. To be honest I've only been using the x6100 on CW but as I'll probably be taking a few days holiday I'd like to do FT8 with firmware v0.28.0. I have everything configured and everything seems to work very well in reception... but I can't get it to transmit. It doesn't seem to take the impulse to go to transmit (the TC tag appears). I guess it's stupid but I've tried several ways and can't get it to transmit. I also looked for a manual but couldn't find it Thanks in advance for any indication 73 Mauro HB9FBG
