Possibly the best firmware/base version

I had upgrade to 1.1.9/1.1.8 and everything but the MODEM decoders seemed to work. I even like the new gain distribution where RF Gain is set to 100 for S9=73uV. So I did some experimenting. In app version 1.1.7, the MODEM decoders work as well as can be expected. But I don't like the red text, so I put the x6100u_ui_v100 from the 1.1.9 app into the 1.1.7 /usr/app_qt directory of the radio and got all the UI improvements of 1.1.9 in the 1.1.7 with good Modems. In fact, when I check the system info on the X6100, it says 1.1.9/1.1.8.
I am a happy camper now. I hope further testing will prove good as well.

Hi Gary,
?
Great find! Could you please elaborate how did you access/change directory content on the radio?

Yes, please give us detailed instructions on how to do this.

Basically, using the normal procedure, install the FW version that has the APP version you want to keep. Example: APP 1.1.9.
Then connect to your X1600 via WiFi and using the necessary tools (example, WinSCP) just go to
?
/usr/firmware
?
and copy to the above folder the FW BASE versions that you want to keep in your radio.
You need the following credentials:
?
user: admin
pwd: 123
?
Here's the content of /usr/firmware on my X6100:
?
?
The above xgf files can be extracted from the the ZIPs that have the FWs made available by Xiegu. You can use a tool like WinZIP to open and extract each off the above (except the _160 files; those are the patched ones).
If you do the above and go the FIRMWARE UPGRADE option on the radio, here's what you'll see:
?
?
Now just pick, from the list, the BASE FW you want to keep and choose the UPGRADE option on the above screen.
Hope this helps.

PS: Proceed at your own risk. This is not described anywhere on the X6100 manual.

Janos,
You use WinSCP to transfer files between radio and Windows computer. I first loaded 1.1.9 and updated the base firmware to 1.1.8, then copied the x6100_ui_v100 file to my computer, then load 1.1.7 to the radio and copy the x6100ui file from the computer back to the radio, replacing the 1.1.7 version that was there. The x6100ui file is located at /usr/app_qt. You can see how to use WinSCP in the YouTube video here:

I think there's also a mod to get white letters on the APPs (MODEM, SWR SCAN and VOICE CALL). Xiegu forgot those on the last release, not a big deal, but they are still red.
Let me try and get those working and if I suceed I'll paste the x6100u_ui_v100 file here.
