IC7300.xml not running on W7 3
I rececently installed Fldigi 4.1.06 on W7. The waterfall displays and signals are being printed on the screen but CAT is not controlling the transceiver. On the rig configure screen the IC7300.xml shows up in the rig description box. I opened it and saved it but it does not do any controlling. The device box shows COM1. The device manager does not show up the driver in the ports section. What am I missing here?

Olivia Will Not Decode 2
Tried to copy Olivia station on FlDigi, but no luck. I can copy the stations on N1MM+ and MixW, no joy on FlDigi. Transmits fine. Could someone who is working Olivia successfully confirm FlDigi settings? Tom, WA9AFM

Flrig required? 3 #CWTYPE #fldigi #flrig #hamlib #IC-7300
I'm trying to learn about FLDIGI. Am I required to use FLRIG? I tried to use FLDIGI stand alone, Hamlib and IC7610, it will change / show frequency and modes, but nothing is transmitted. I don't think I need to use any of the other FLDIGI files, if so please let me know. I'm also getting WinKeyer and will have to set that up later on. Thanks for your time on this. SCAMP mode on air? 4
Greetings, Is there anyone(s) that would be interested in playing with the new scamp mode or is already doing so? I am curious how well this mode works in poor condx compared to say olivia. I can do 160-10m. 73 Ben KB0ZOM

SCAMP mode 11
https://github.com/profdc9/fldigi code shows in /src and /src/include the new digital mode SCAMP but to use it we must compile Fldigi from source. Will a new installable Fldigi allow us to use this new communication digital mode? 73 - Pierre - FK8IH

Minor Issues with Linsim Channel Simulator-Early tests and thoughts 7
I have been doing some evaluations of Linsim and I have identified a couple of minor issues. In my early tests, I selected 1 path and a spread of 1Hz and and AWGN with SNR=25dB. I did one set of tests at a sample rate of 8kbs and another set at 48kbs. I repeated the tests with path 1 selected, a spread of 1Hz, and an offset of +5Hz. I am using Windows 11+Dell G10 laptop. Observations 1. I intercomapared Linsim v2.0.4 and and Moe Wheatley's Pathsim v1.0. I generated a 1kHz sinewave with a 60 sec duration at a sample rate of 8kbs. In this case the time domain wave forms exhibited very similar envelope fluctuations. When I performed an FFT on the records the resulting spectra exhibited a Gaussian shape with the same width. When I applied an offset of +5.0Hz, the spectrum shifted up by 5.0Hz with Pathsim. With Linsim, the Gaussian spectrum shifted down by -5.0 Hz. So there is a potential sign error with the offset in the Linsim code. 2. I performed an additional set of tests with a 1kHz sinewave with a 60sec duration and a sample rate of 48kbs. In this case I did not use Pathsim since it only works with a sample rate of 8kbs. I first applied the 1kHz sinewave to Linsim with Path 1 selected, a spread of 1 Hz, and 0 offset. The resulting output waveform exhibited much faster envelope fluctuations. This was confirmed with the FFT, which showed markedly wider Gaussian spectrum-the width increased approximately 6x. 3. I suspected that this spread issue has something to do with the different data rates since is 6x larger than the 8kbs case. I then repeated the test with a spread of 1/6 = 0.166, that corresponds to the ratio of the data rates 8kbs/48kbs. The resulting spectrum using an FFT showed the correct shape and frequency spread. 4. I think this spreading issue can be corrected in Linsim by applying a scale factor to the spread that accounts for the ratio: 8kbs/(the selected date rate kbs)--My best guess :-) 5. When I applied a +5.0 Hz offset with the 48kbs sinewave the resulting spectrum shifted down -5.0 Hz. So this Offset sign error is the same at the higher sample rates. Summary 1. Linsim is a robust and much needed update to Pathsim that enables processing of .wav files for a variety of data rates in the range 8kbs to 48 kbs. 2. When using Linsim at data rates other than 8kbs, adjust the spread using a scale factor of 8kbs/(the selected data rate kbs). 3. There is a sign error in the offset. So simply switch the sign of the desired frequency offset. 4. I have applied pulse trains generated with Matlab to Linsim and I will report on my findings soon. Bob Johnk, WB0VGD Arvada, Colorado

4.2.06 don't save colors settings 4
hello, I have upgraded to 4.2.06 from 4.2.05. colors setting looks different from my previous settings in v 4.2.05. I tried to modify these settings in 4.2.06 but after closing down the softare all setting are lost. I have seen a new file fldigi_UIcolors.colors is appered in fldigi.files directory only for V4.2.06. I cannot find a way to import and save all color settings from previuos version 73 de Filippo, iz1fks

RF SPECTRA of THOR with Signal Shaping 3
Here are the RF Spectra of THOR22 (sent on 40m SSB) when sent with 0 (milliseconds) signal shaping and 500 (millisec) signal shaping. The shaping value is now in the FLDIGI MENU under MODEM: GENERAL and can be set manually from 0 to 500 value. Shaping the signal amplitude tones in the FSK modes like THOR, MFSK, AFSK RTTY should tend to "soften" them - resulting in a smaller bandwidth (like shaping a CW carrier) On CW the shaping in milliseconds is typically 4-8 ms (turning the carrier on/off) which results in a narrow bandwidth CW signal. No shaping of a CW signal results in key clicks and a wide splatter type signal. I'm not sure what the units are in FLDIGI for tone "shaping" but it also looks like milliseconds. Flirig stopped working with my FT991A after installing the latest fldigi software 3
I posted this message on the linuxham group and just realized I should have posted this question here. I hope I can get some response on this group. ---------- Forwarded message --------- From: wb2bwu <wb2bwu@...> Date: Tue, Jan 7, 2025 at 12:16 PM Subject: Flirig stopped working with my FT991A after installing the latest fldigi software To: <[email protected]> Cc: Jose Berrios <wb2bwu@...> I run FLDIGI, WSJTX, and FLRIG on a Windows 10 Pro Intel NUC. A couple of days ago, I downloaded the latest FLDIGI program, and after attempting to run it, my FLRIG software stopped recognizing the FT991A transceiver. I had previously used FLRIG with the FT991A by selecting the FT991 rig instead of the FT991A, which never worked. I have reinstalled all the pertinent drivers, and I can now run WSJTX successfully by choosing the FT991 transceiver directly. Has anyone else encountered this issue before, and has there been any successful solutions? I own numerous transceivers, and while FLRIG has had problems with several of these units, I've always managed to get the software working. I'm looking forward to hearing back from you. 73, Joe (aka Jose) Berrios, B.S., M.S., RETIRED WB2BWU

Much latency with frequency change 5
I am using Fldigi with Thetis software, and HFauto tuner app. When I change frequency with the VFO in Thetis, FLdigi is very slow to follow the frequency change. Most times the frequency indicator in FLdigi goes to zero for several seconds. The greater the change, the longer it takes to catch up. If I select a frequency directly, the frequency change in FLdigi is instantaneous. This started when I upgraded to 4.2.6.17. I have changed nothing since the upgrade. Another example: If I spin the VFO for 50kHz Fldigi takes 25 seconds before the frequency pops up. Any ideas or has anyone seen this before? Thank you for your help.

ARRL RU Mode Change Problem 2
I'm running in the RTTY RU using a K4D, Fldigi v 2.06, AcLog Contest new version, My rig in on COM 6 and AcLog in on COM 7. When I change frequencies with the RIG, it put the RIG into CW mode from DATA mode. This just started happening. Any idea what's causing this and how do I fix? Thanks, Jim Ruff W7JHR

fldigi and MacloggerDX
I am operating fldigi from a PC and MacloggerDX from a Mac on the same subnet (192.168.1.xxx). I am trying to transfer QSOs logged in fldigi to MacloggerDX. Has anyone done this successfully? I see that fldigi has a MacLogger configuration page as well as a Misc/TCP-IP sessions configuration page. I already have WSJT-X successfully sending logging entries from the PC to MacloggerDX by using 192.168.1.255 as the broadcast address. The Logging/MacLogger configuration page simply has a checkbox "Connect to MacLogger" and "Capture Log Report" but that config page provides nothing about how to connect to MacloggerDX. The Misc/TCP-IP sessions configuration page might be the way to do this but I am not sure what to enter there. Has anyone successfully done this?

How to set UDP Address in fldigi 2 #fldigi
One used to be able to set the UDP address and port number for the UDP connection in Fldigi by navigating to the “I/O Ports” in the Configuration Menu or by configuring the ARQ/KISS/ I/O depending on the Fldigi version. In Fldigi v4.2.06 this does not appear to be possible anymore. I read that a linux terminal command “fldigi HOSTNAME” could be used to specify the UDP address but I installed ubuntu and it does not recognize this command. Am I missing something and if so where can I enter this UDP information?
