Is there a limit on notifications?
Running FLDIGI version 4.1.18 on a Raspberry Pi 4. I seem to be limited to 21 custom text search notifications before they begin glitching and changing form into "My callsign de CALL" notifications. Is this limit normal and expected? Is there any workaround for this limit? Thanks!

Finally got FLrig working with my FT-747GX!
3
I posted a while back with issues getting FLrig working properly with my FT-747GX. I gave up on it for a while and today I randomly decided to try again. I came across a group.io thread where Dave recommended adding "return true;" to the beginning of the bool RIG_FT747::check() method in FT747GX.cxx. See the thread here: /g/linuxham/topic/ft_747gx_flrig_osx/104026557?p=,,,20,0,0,0::recentpostdate/sticky,,,20,2,0,104026557,previd%3D1708455867012856727,nextid%3D1706669712837988482&previd=1708455867012856727&nextid=1706669712837988482 I did this and recompiled and I had a connection to the radio. However, it seemed to be constantly polling the radio and could not get any changes communicated from the radio to the computer or the other way around. I changed the polling intervall to 2000ms and it looks like I'm rolling! Just wanted to help out others in the future. And who knows probably myself in the future too lol.

No RF output on digital suddenly
8
Ok, I'm hoping something is not wrong with the radio but that is looking less and less likely. I have a Yaesu FT-991a that has been working FB for a few years. The other day I sat down at the shack to do some FT-8 and noticed that I wasn't getting any power out when transmitting. I've done system updates which includes kernel updates, obviously rebooting etc. to no effect. I've also recently changed my desktop speakers from ones that used the on-board audio to providing their own soundcard via USB-C. I can easily use pavucontrol to setup the audio devices and what applications they are attached to and am receiving audio from the radio fine. Even when sending audio to the radio the VU meter built into pavucontrol is showing audio. I've reviewed the menu settings many times at this point using Dave's guide and can't find any problems. I have done a full reset on the radio and set everything up from scratch. I can turn on the monitor (MONI) and I can hear audio when I use the front mic but not when transmitting digital modes (AND I don't know if that's expected to work). I've also tried using a Signalink USB which is configured to use the DATA port of the radio which had the exact same results. Receive audio works fine, no TX audio output. To summarize... 1. Receive audio works using on-board sound card, TX audio does not. 2. Receive audio works using Signalink, TX audio does not. 3. CAT control works 4. PTT works Any other ideas before I ship the radio to Yaesu? Thanks, Richard KF5OIM

Fldigi Freezing
21
Hello Dave and the rest of the talented programming team. My system is Linux Mint 22 Cinnamon. I use the Wiki to build the Fldigi suite. When I use Fldigi for a while, like on a net, it will freeze. When I look at Top Fldigi is up over 120 percent. Tonight during a net it went up above 200 percent. I'm using Fldigi version 4.2.05. It also does it on version 4.2.05.04. This has happened to me before and there was a fix for this. A noob like me didn't understand what was done so I can't remember what the fix was. If no one else is seeing this on Linux then it could be my system but I wanted to make sure there's not a problem lurking somewhere. I hate to bring up the dark side but I didn't see the high CPU usage on my other PC which is Windows. 73, Ron NY3J

MacOS 15.3.1 USB and flrig
3
I recently tried to run flrig 2.0.05 and it tells me the COM port is not responding. I then go into config and select /dev/tty.SLAB_USBtoUART4. After Pressing init it hangs and a forced quit is needed. I think it all started after upgrading to macOS 15.3.1. Was the serial driver replaced? I think something was changed in the USB drivers because upon boot my computer does not recognize my keyboard if it is connected to my USB hub. I need to connect direct to USB to be recognized. If the system is already running, using the hub/keyboard combo is not a problem. If I use a Windows 10 VM, I have no issues. Any ideas? v/r, Carlos

FLDIGI 4.2.06 / RumLogNG v 5.19.1/OSX / MacOS 15.3
10
Hello, I like to use FLDigi for RTTY and I have been working the RITTY contest this weekend. I am using my Elecraft K4 to send RTTY since its build it and works well. I noticed FLDigi is not decoding RTTY when I am in FSK mode to be able to send RTTY. If I move to DATA mode it decodes. I opened the filter on the FSK to get more of the siglanl into FLDigi but no decode. Im not sure if it¡¯s the mode or the filter but if any can let me know I would like FLDigi to decode RTTY in FSK mode. Tim KM4ESU

Running Linux on a Chromebook

I have been trying to run FlDigi in Linux, no luck at all. Stats: Chromebook, Linux penguin, (setup by a friend for his BBS) Anyone 5888uv, with a Digi rig. FlDigi is downloaded and unzipped then nothing. My friend says I have all the proper cables and hardware. Is a a hardware issue or a total lack of Linux knowledge? Thanks for you advice

Where to send user modified/tested/debugged sources?
5
One for Dave 'HKJ. What is the preferred way to submit modified/tested/debugged sources? And in what format? (I for one would "prefer to avoid" git etc, as I have never had a good experience with those systems, being all too easy to "royally mess things up!") 73. Dave G0WBX.

Linux Mint works on one user account but crashes on another on Linux Mint 22.1
5
I have an Asus I5 laptop that I set a second account up on to use Fldigi and WFVIEW together. I have created the profile twice. The first profile has Fldigi on it as well as WFVIEW. I was setting them up to use with another radio. The first one works fine. WFVIEW works fine on the second account as do other programs that are installed. If i start Fldigi from the desktop, the menu, or in the terminal ot crashes with a segment fault. This happens with or without WFVIEW running as I am doing a virtual audio cable between the two. Any suggestions? N0QJA

VARA.exe in Linux on a Chromebook (4GB RAM, 16GB eMMC)
2
Hi Jindra Not an expert on this so mainly thinking out loud. I assume you space issue on the 16GB came from installing wine32 and the i386 linux architecture on top of the 64bit? (ie sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386) There doesn't seem to be a wine64 dependency on the wine32 installation (in Debian) so maybe see if wine32 ONLY can be installed? (assuming you don't want to run any 64bit Windows programs). WineHQ however has lots of useful info. Maybe think about doing a manual strip of unused applications/libraries first? sBitx v3 has low power on fldigi and wsjtx
#fldigi
#hamlib
#raspberrypi
#wsjtx
I have an sBitx v3 that has essentially not modified, other that a dist-upgrade (It runs some Raspberry pi version of Debian). The full power is 25 W, and when I set the PA drive to 63%, I get 10 W out on CW, as expected. However, when I run either fldigi or wsjtx with the drive set the same, I get 1.3 W. On both, the power sliders are set all the way up to max (0 db). Both are using hamlib. The only thing I could think of checking is the ALSA mixer, but no numbers are small enough to account for a loss of a factor of 8 in power. Any ideas on what else I could check?

Hello, Had it working and then only rig control. Using xubuntu based (andys linux) wsjtx app with ft 891. Recent w1hkj site changes, and Flrig sources.
13
Hi. After a bit of a hiatus with the computer here.. (I lost the ability to use a GUI desktop, as a "non-root user"!) Anyway. I'm re-establishing things so I can once again work on Flrig and tweak a few things for my TS-870s, and continue to add a back-end for the IC-R9000. (At least my backup strategy worked!) I had been working with the Flrig alpha, 2.0.05.75, and was in the process of migrating my work to 2.0.05.85 when I had the computer issues in late November 2024. (long story to whoever wants it! I still don't know what happened, or why, but I only recently got it flying straight and level again.) Anyway. I read that Dave (HKJ) migrated his website from a .com to a .org And indeed, if you go to the .com site, there is a big message to go to the .org Not a problem. But... Where are the up-to-date / latest sources for Flrig? (I was wanting to check for later alpha release for Flrig, later than 2.0.05.85 that I have.) The new site lists a release of 2.0.04, but there was a 2.0.05 released, and later alphas present after that. The new site seems not to have any Flrig sources at https://www.w1hkj.org/alpha/flrig/ other than:- 1.3.22.14 ! What happened to the 2.0.05 release, and later alpha's ? However, The links on Dave's .org site to sourceforge work, where at least the Flrig release v2.0.05 is present! Anyway, "Confused of North Bucks UK" is now off to watch some mindless drivel on TV, as I've frazzled the faded grey cell a bit too much today. 73. Dave G0WBX.

Flrig-2.0.05.93 Erroneous behavior with Yaesu FT736r.
Hi again. For now I've given up trying to understand the weird "pot-luck access" to Dave's new site. There is something truly janky going on outside of my control... Enough of that... A new(ish) issue... Same project and version. (Flrig 2.0.05.93) This time with the ancient FT-736r. (I say new(ish) as I noticed it first I think with an earlier alpha, just before I lost the ability to login as "me" to my own computer. Insufficient rights for the Xserver to access hardware ports 0x00 to 0x35 or something.) Anyway... Firstly, the "base release" of 2.0.05, works very well. But the alpha .93 (and I think some earlier ,7x version) have a problem when recalling a "Flrig Memory" where the rig goes to the wanted frequency just fine, but a fraction of a second after that, Flrig itself reverts to displaying the old VFO frequency that was in force before the memory was recalled, while the radio stays at the new (recalled) frequency. Of course, This radio is not capable of returning a query for it's set working frequency. That, I think is part of the problem, as something in Flrig expects to be able to update it's display, based on what the radio has just been set to as a result of a Memory Manager recall. (As it does with other rigs just fine.) "Tuning via Flrig" (even with polling disabled) there is no issue, you nudge a digit up/down, and the radio follows just fine, plus Flrig stays showing the "new" frequency. Disabling all polling, prevents Flrig Memory Manager recall's too! (Seems odd...) This ancient (but still very useful) radio also has much of it's front panel "locked" when under CAT control, so you can't manually "tune" it (or change several other settings) from the front panel, and have Flrig follow it. The only data it can return to the controlling computer, is the Squelch status, and a 'S' meter indication value. I can't see anything grossly different in the .cxx and .h files for this radio, so I'm guessing something else changed deeper within Flrig. But where? Best Regards. Dave G0WBX.
