This was the predecessor to WiresX .Wires was very similar to the layout of the hri200 software and was used very similar to operating Echolink or IRLP in that you pressed the button to connect to the system then dial a number to access the place you want to
connect to , also you would see a list of various nodes or repeaters and rooms to chat in. Sometimes in silent key sales does a wires box come up for sale but you cannot use it as there is NO infrastructure to use it on.

I am curious about the function of the Wires/Internet button on Vx-7R. How does one use it? I am familiar with C4Fusion and WiresX on FT3DR, but not sure how VX-7R pairs up to that. I will appreciate any insights from this esteemed group.

Thanks.

Referring to the manual, YEASU'S "WIRES" is for use with a CPU for worldwide communications on the ham bands. As far as I can find, it is no longer used.

I’m afraid there is no such thing as digital modes on the VX-7. It’s a great HT though only analogue no digital modes.?

Thank you very much! excellent documentation.I had no idea these packs used round cells. I have been doing ok with an Amazon or eBay battery, and using the original old battery as backup for now.

You have to take your time when separating the case. That is if you want a usable battery pack after you're done. Above all, do not rush the project, it will take some time to do a proper job.

Re: FNB-80LI battery dropped to 0V
Hi Tobias, I have found, refer to attached photocopy, the best, out of four, reference manuals for the VX-7R. It is small enough to fit in a shirt pocket and throughly shows all the features of the radio and how to use them. I gave away the other reference manuals and only use this one. I wish I could find one like it for the rest of my radios. Anyway, if you can get one, I highly recommend it. Clyde KC7BJE?

Re: FNB-80LI battery dropped to 0V
Hello,
I have the?barometer board installed in my VX-7R and the radio sets, in off condition, for several months before I turn it on again with no battery drain problem.
First check to see if the timer feature of the VX-7R is off. The VX-7R has the ability to turn its self on or off at a preset time. Refer to the attached photocopy of VX-7R Reference Manual.
if that is not the case,?You could use a different fully charged battery, check the level, install it in the radio, with the radio OFF, let it set for a week, then remove the battery and recheck the battery level.? If there is no real level change, then your problem may be, the first battery is bad and needs rebuilt or disposed of. If there is a drainage on the battery then your radio is in question and needs trouble shooting. You could also check the battery in question by fully charge the discharged battery, then set it aside for a week or so then after that time, check the battery level. If the level changes significantly then the battery is in question. Without hands on to troubleshoot the radio, it is hard to come up with an answer. Clyde KC7BJE?

Hello, My VX-7r was sitting a couple of weeks without use, and the original FNB-80LI battery drained itself completely to show 0V.
The battery has been heavily drained before, but it was holding enough charge to keep the HT listening for 5-6h, so I am a little surprised.
My question is whether there is something I have running which drains the battery when it is powered off. The radio does have the barometer board installed.
Cheers, Tobias?

Blinking S is the battery saver indicator.
Any chance you have Tone Squelch or Digital tone squelch enabled on receive?

Thanks to all who responded. This is funny.? I actually have two
VX-8R radios.? I did do a full reset on the radio in question.?
But still no RX audio. TX audio goes out, I can hear myself on the
other radio.? So I decided to use the other radio.? That radio has
no TX audio out.? It will key the repeater, but no audio.? Both
radios were fine a few years ago.? Haven't done a full reset on
the second radio, but will shortly.? I thought a full reset would
reset all parameters.? Looks like a hardware issue.
