Re: VX-_7R Memory Alpha Tags

Yes sir.

I had the opportunity to look at the radio last evening.

Single VFO memory mode.
No alpha tags.

Single VFO MG mode.
No alpha tags.

Going the set up menu:
I can see the channels and alpha tags.

Not the end of my world that the alpha tags do not display.
Just would be nice if they did.

I have done a full reset of the radio.
I deleted and reinstalled the Commander software.
Rewritten the programming to the radio.

As noted a tremendous radio!

Thanks for your help.

Best regards
Leslie

It is really a great little radio.

I guess I just got busy and it went into storage.

I know it worked previously.

I am thinking it is how I am calling up the memory station but have not resolved it yet.

Cheers!

I have a VX-7R which is the first radio I bought when I got my ticket.
It has been mostly resting in a closet for some years.
I decided to bring it back to life.
I am glad I did except for the convoluted manual.
Which brings about the request for help.

I can see the alpha tags for the memory channels in the VX-7R Commander software (I use it for programming)
But try as I may, I cannot get the alpha tags to display.
As an example:
I am in MG3, Main.
The channel has an alpha tag.
I do not see it.
I have done a full reset.
Written to the radio, etc
Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Poor AUDIO from VX-7R

Easiest test for the speaker would be to use the VX-7 to listen to the FM broadcast band (88 to 108 Mhz). The FM broadcast band uses a different filter than narrow band Ham FM.

Re: Poor AUDIO from VX-7R

Hi Gordon, If it works OK on wide FM (88 to 108 Mhz) it is likely the filter sold as eBay item?171828786666. The Kenwood TS-2000 has a similar problem with the original filters failing.

Poor AUDIO from VX-7R

It has been several years since I used my VX-7R, and when I turned it on the AUDIO was very "thin" (no bass component) compared to my VX-8R and VX-2R handhelds.

Is this a feature of the VX-7R, or is it a fault which is repairable ?

Thanks? Gordon VE3JSJ

Re: VX-8DR with new BU-2 BlueTooth module

I only found ONE place to turn BT on, it this it?? See image :POWR: ON in the BT Menu.
OK, so it worked with your hearing aid, meaning that it works with third party BT devices, that's very good.

More... I even had it working, receive only, with my hearing aids Bluetooth adapter.?

Re: VX-8DR with new BU-2 BlueTooth module

Probably a dumb question, so apologize, but did you turn on the Bluetooth in the vx8r's menu??

VX-8DR with new BU-2 BlueTooth module

Hello folks,
Has anyone in this group installed the BU-1 or BU-2 BlueTooth module and gotten it to work?
Then does anyone have it working with a generic BT earpiece or headset, such as a Plantronics earpiece or other BT headphone?
I have been unable to locate a BH-1 or BH-2 Yaesu headphone.
I just bought the VX-8DR used and a new BU-2 module for it.
I installed the BU-2 and do not see the BlueTooth ICON on the LCB screen, even though I have the BT POWER set to ON in the menu.
Your advice is appreciated.

replacement keypad

power on off button worn out- disasembled- not carbon like earlier yaesu hts- silver coating on the back of power button almost gone. tested resistance across button- very spoty and iffy. clean board and keypad with alcohol as well as deoxit. improved very slightly. yaesu only sells keypad with the entire freont, minus the control board- 88$ if i remember correctly. ? anyone have parts radio or suggestions

VX-8DR Won't power up

Delbert La Bo

My VX-8DR will not power up after a failed program upload. I added some frequencies and during the upload there evidently was some issue, no error on the radio and the software said the upload was completed successfully. The radio turned off and won't turn back on. The battery was fully charge, but I did try another battery. I also tried the Rest process in the owner's manual but there is no response from the radio. Has anyone else had this issue, or have any ideas that I might try.
Thanks

Whenever you make a change you have to save it, usually by clicking the transmit button. ?I have recently been retraining myself on my old VX7 and it took a while to relearn this. ?And sometimes following the directions just did not work, but if I kept repeating the instructions it eventually would save. ?I do t know why. ?Just keep trying.
