Re: FT8
Daniel,
Thanks for the information. I have made only a few QSOs with the IC7000 on
144 MHz FT8 and none on 432 MHz. If I decided to return to those bands
with FT8/MSK144 etc. study your

Re: FT8
Yes. But the frequency stability is not good enough for FT8-operation at 144 or 432 MHz. You should do the "fan mod", i.e. connecting the fan through 100 ohms to 13.8V so that it is running all the

Re: ci-v usb not working on w10 but works on w11
I setup my kit and I was able to send an UnTUNE (turn off the external tuner) command to the radio with CI-V Scout.
Here is a screenshot snip of the results;

Re: ci-v usb not working on w10 but works on w11
I don't have much in a way of unused stuff. I have really nothing on the laptop other than some radio docs and couple of programs. I mainly use the 7000 along with this laptop when doing POTA while

Re: FT8
Pete,
I have used my IC7000 for many years running WSJT-X in the FT8 mode and
prior to that in the JT65 and JT9 modes without any issues. I run the
IC7000 between 75 and 90 W for these modes.
I use

Thanks to you all for the advice on the icom 7000 and SDR.Believe the best option for me is to borrow an SDR radio for the field day effort.73KenKI7HER

I see there is an updated version. The author's web page is here. [ https://www.uwe-sieber.de/misc_tools_e.html | https://www.uwe-sieber.de/misc_tools_e.html ]
Find "COM Name Arbiter Tool" on that

Re: ci-v usb not working on w10 but works on w11
I use a DigiRig (v1.5) which has a Silicon Labs serial device. I have some FTDI USB Serial cables but none are CI-V wired.
Perhaps related... I saw your com port is COM8 and it's possible that

Re: FT8
Hi Pete,
If you want a quick and simple solution get a Signalink USB. They support the 7000 with a special rig cable.
You simply put the rig in USB, and the Signalink USB will work with any digital

I use it as my primary FT8 rig.
It works...also use Signalink.
Never push it more than 25 watts and works FB.

Re: ci-v usb not working on w10 but works on w11
Can't comment for W11, but on W10, I had to force the installation of a older version of the driver to get my USB interface to talk to the radio.
W10 still insists the new one is better and changes

I have done this when I travel.
* You need an SDR.? I use an SDRPlayRSP1a with SDRuno software ($100)

Re: ci-v/usb interface not working on W10 but ok on W11
The two possibilities I see are
1. Check the com port that the W10 machine has assigned the ftdi chip.
It may be conflicting with something else, or just different from PC.
W11 pc.
2. Try
