Re: Whats a Cabinet Model Atlas 12"x36" worth?
Marty and guys,
I have a Craftsman 12x36 like you're taking about and I've seen 3 sold
in the Ft.Worth/Dallas area in the last year. 2 Were in very good
condition and were sold by dealers for $2200

Skip, you know which machine I have. Are you talking about the
machine I have or the one I'm looking at? I'm trying to figure out how

Interesting WEB site
Whilst reading rec.crafts.metalworking newsgroup, I found this URL:
http://www.fotec.co.uk/mehs/hemingway/index.html
They sell what appears to be unfinished kits that you can finish on
your lathe.

Skip,
Based upon your numbers I think I'd advertise for say $1450, and take
the $1250 if it got to that point. It sounds like it would still be a
bargain at that price.

Harry

Whats a Cabinet Model Atlas 12"x36" worth?
Curious. I found a cabinet model Atlas lathe (looks like the last
Commercial Craftsman model), has the quick change gearbox, 2 3
jaw chucks, jacobs chuck, steady rest and some bits, knurling tool.

Re: Simple questions
Saw your photos. The two mystery items are: 2nd from right looks to be
another lantern toolpost with a few pieces missing. 1st on right is a
crotch center, used to hold a round object while drilling

Don't pay $25 a pop. Do it yourself. This is a job well within a

Re: My Craftsman Lathe
P.S. If it's the knobs only that you need why not turn them yourself from
freecutting steel?

Re: Pre-introduction
I just got the new Grizzly catalog (woodworking). They sell a series of
"inserts" that adapt their wood turning chucks to various metal (and I
presume wood) lathes. One is for 1 1/2 - 8 spindles and

it might be used to create a parts source listing

Re: Atlas/Craftsman Dates
My Eudora program has an option "See all Headers Even the Ugly Ones"
when this is set I also get all the "extra" garbage. With this set not to
