¿ªÔÆÌåÓýYou can get hour meters at the local marine store . What state are you in . in California Im not sure they would be OK with an aftermarket odometer . had to rebuild one for my MG . ? From: [email protected] <[email protected]>

Re: Subaru temp sender
Lots of good advice and options above. FWIW, we have an OBD2 Scan Gauge mounted in a clever little 3D-printed holder from GoWesty that clips on the dashboard above the steering column. We also added a VW sensor port in the Subaru cooling loop that feeds the temp gauge in the instrument panel. Didn't try it, but I believe a 28 ohm resistor in series with the Subaru temp sensor feed will drive the VW temp gauge pretty reliably.? On Mon, May 15, 2023, 02:32 Eric Freudenthal <eric@...> wrote:

Re: Looking for an EJ22
Not sure yet. I was initially thinking head gasket but it¡¯s beginning to appear to be more catastrophic than that. I haven¡¯t pulled it apart yet, and it didn¡¯t overheat. I drained the oil pan and found more than a gallon of coolant in there that hadn¡¯t yet emulsified with the oil. So it appears that the coolant dumped into the engine very quickly and I shut it down as soon as my oil light flickered on. Found bits of ferrous and non ferrous metals in the oil pan. Hopefully going to take a borescope to it when I have some more time on my hands.

Super disappointed, hopefully I¡¯ll hear back from steve this week to see if we can work out some sort of warranty coverage. If not I¡¯ll need to source something else. Hopefully the heads are still ok, but I haven¡¯t had time to pull them yet. On May 14, 2023, at 8:25 PM, Dr Mark <mark@...> wrote: |

That¡¯s unnerving since I didn¡¯t install for 6 months after picking mine up .. I¡¯m at only 2k miles so far. do you know what failed ? . I spent time at his shop . His off-road credentials are legit .

Steve did my last engine and I had a catastrophic failure at 11k miles. I emailed and called since I¡¯m within warranty mileage wise, but I'm outside the 12 month window. I haven¡¯t heard back yet. I¡¯m hoping to find something to just get me through the summer camping season until I can find the money or time to properly rebuild the engine.

Hi Maciek, I added a VW temp sender to the Subaru manifold to feed the dash gauge and? has worked perfectly for ~85,000 miles so far! 9MM drill bit, 1.0 x 10MM tap (I think...) On Fri, May 12, 2023 at 9:53?AM Maciej Wicha <maciej.wicha@...> wrote:

Re: Idle Issues.
Thinking i might be running lean. O2 sensors at 0 volts at idle. Seem?to operate through rest of throttle range as they should up to 0.9 volts. I checked fuel pressure and believe i am within spec based on what is in my?factory service manual. I am at 31-32 psi with vacuum 41-42 psi without. ? |

The same is true when cleaning up IACV or Throttle Body.? You have now just introduced new parameters....that is, a clean system.? ECU is not familiar with these new parameters.? No sweat..it will learn...just give it time.

Subaru temp sender
Hi group, I am new here. I live in Warsaw, Poland. I have a Westy 1987 with Syncro conversion done few years ago. I swap the VW 2.0 petrol engine from Golf 3 but now I have all parts ready (sourced in Germany) and a vendor car for Subaru 2.5 (ej25) conversion.?
What is a best solution for temp sensor connection to the original dash gauge? I have read on Samba that it is common practice to drill and install standard VW sender in the cooling manifold (I have a reversed one). Does it right solution based on your experience? Is there anything specific I should keep on the back of mind?? Cheers,? Maciek |
Re: Electrical Help
OK Rick, Let us know how it goes with BB ((Brian). If you are still having problems, I'll drive down from Lakehurst (North of Peterborough) and we'll get it sorted out. I have some good friends in Dundas, so I have a place to stay. Terry On Wed, 10 May 2023, 14:43 Rich Humber, <humber.rich@...> wrote:

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýRich,?
I'd be happy to help out. I just put on 04 outback ej25 in my 86 (but with the RWM kit (do not believe this changes anything electrical)). I built my own harness and have all wires well documented.? Do you have a list of questions to start??

I'm really close to finishing the install of our manual EJ25 out of a '02 Legacy with Small Car conversion kit, into our '88 Westy, but I'm stuck on some wiring issues.? I'm really hoping someone in the group might be interested in helping via
video sort out the last of the question?I?have so I can get this beast back on the road.? I'd be more than happy to pay for your time.? If you're interested let me know what works on your end and I'll send out a Team's meeting request.
A sincere thank you to everyone from the group who's helped me along the way.? It's been quite an adventure.
Stay safe,?
