Winlink on Raspberry Pi with LinBPQ - error 98 3
Followed Jason's video noted on the topic. Issue 1 - During setup, and entry of web control Bpq automatically dropped in a Telnet port. When I run screen -r bpq it's giving me a Telnet error failed port 8080 error 98. I used a command someone offered in the threads to see what other applications were using that port and it said TCP. I note that I have this port selected within Pat configuration menu. The assumptin is that they are conflicting. If this is the case which one should I change and what port number is everyone using? Issue 2 - I noted Persist and slottime warnings while watching screen -r dw. Saw the same thing on Jason's video in the background. Screen -r dw mentions to check the Direwolf user manual for settings. I noted for comms transmit a few more entries that weren't called out in the Direwolf.conf file. I entered them, rebooted, and the warning went away but my gateway stopped responding to my terminal connection requests. I went back in and removed the comments, saved the file, and rebooted. Still can't get my gateway to transmit like it was. Does changing the direwolf.conf file change other files or random settings for transmit? Thank you, KM6QAQ 73

Help with going forward 7
Good evening, I am wanting to build a digipeater using an FT2980R. I have 73Linux installed on a designated PC, I have the radio and antenna all set up. I have a digirig lite with appropriate cable for the radio. And I have about 120 cash to buy anything else I would need. Could someone steer me in the right direction because I feel like I am striking out. Thanks in advance! -Larry K0HIO

In 73 Linux, how do I configure PTT to be by RTS of COM port? 7
I have a DigiRig Mobile in "Logic Levels Configuration." It is not sending to my Yaesu FTM-500D. Digi Tech Support says: "Yes, PTT will not work unless you specifically configure it to be by RTS signal of COM port. This subject is covered on page 56 of the direwolf manual: https://packet-radio.net/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/Direwolf-User-Guide.pdf" The part of the manual he's referring to says: 9.2.8.1 PTT with serial port RTS or DTR To use a serial port (either built-in or a USB to RS232 adapter cable), use an option of this form: PTT device-name [-]rts-or-dtr [ [-]rts-or-dtr ] For Windows the device name would be COM1, COM2, etc. For Linux, the device name would probably be something like /dev/ttyS0 or /dev/ttyUSB0. You can also use the Windows format. COM1 is converted to /dev/ttyS0, COM1 is converted to /dev/ttyS1, and so on. I have NO idea where to put that information. Unlike Windows, on Linux is it in the DireWolf config file? ` All I know is that my DigiRig is viewed as Card 3, Device 0 (zero), and it¡¯s connected to USB 0 (zero) Has anyone else encountered this issue?

Had to quit 73 linux install, how do I resume? 3
I was following Jason's video as he was checking the software to be installed. I checked GPS software to be installed, but when I hit continue, a dialoge asked where the GPPS was connected (it wasn't, only my DigiRig). I hit cancel, and it closed the install process. How do I get back to that? I won't select GPS this time. When I re-ran the GitHub install command, it said there was already a 73 Linux directory in my home folder. I just want to restart the software selection process. Does anyone know the command to do that?

73Linux Newbie 6
I'm building up another computer for my RV. I've got an RPi 3B+ in a SmartiPi Touch case with the 7 inch touchscreen. I see that 73Linux is a ham package for install. Is that a complete distribution, or do I need to install a basic RaspberryOS first, then do the 73Linux thing? I'm not really finding a listing of what all 73Linux can do for me. I'd like to have things like HamClock, fldigi suite, APRS, and a few other odds and ends. I'm also looking for suggestions for some kind of audio interface and 12V power supply, preferably in a HAT. Thanks for any tips and info. -- 73, Michael WA7SKG "Any day you do not learn one new thing is a wasted day."

Grid Square not set in Pat Configure File Run 'pat configure' to fix 13
This happened both times when trying to build a new system I get the message Grid Square not set in Pat Configure File Run 'pat configure' to fix I set the grid square at the start of the 73 Linux run along with the Winlink password. It got lost somewhere in the install or this message is bogus. Clicked OK to continue Running 64 bit Pi4 system. One of he lines just before this YAD box was: jq: error: could not open file /pat/config.json: No such file or directory Grid Square not set in Pat Configure Distance/Bearings will not be accurate. I did install a GPS by selecting the GPS at the start of the install.

CW Decoder 3
Hey all, Relatively new here. Is there CW Decoder in 73 Linux? Working on my General and haven't had time to start learning CW, but if like to be able to decide what's being sent until I get more fluent. If not, can someone recommend a decent software solution, preferably one that is cross platform. Thanks and 73 KF8COL - Aric

Firefox and Chromium
I'm unable to run the browser. Chromium sits there with the hour class, then quits. Firefox ESR runs and crashes. I tried it from the terminal. It said there was a brower (firefox) running and YAAC was controlling it. Inovota Quadra had firefox but it's not even on. 73 Linux questions
Greetings: Two questions regarding the updated 73 Linux build: 1. Does it support Bookworm64? 2. Does it have the ability to distribute the audio input to multiple applications simultaneously? For example, the ability to run fldigi, JS8Call or other apps at the same time? ( Sometimes this is called bi-mode or tri-mode operation) If it can support multiple audio streams, what apps on the menu do you install to accomplish this? 73, Mark WA0ZIG

Conky location issue 3
Built a 73linux load on a new pi5 and the Conky window overlaps the uper task bar. Is there an entry in the code that will move the box down? The ALTor CTL and mouse drag do nothing. Thanks. -- Bob Nazro, W1RPQphone: (860) 941-7993 bnazro@...

RPI5 Bookworm conky issue 2 #73linux #bookworm #conky #gps
My old PI3 failed after many years of good service. So I purchased a new pi5 (4 GB version) and installed Bookworm 64 bit version, bit of a nightmare not much worked. Now I have switched to 32bit, also switched to X11 backend, had some GPS issues but have resolved them. However I just get a black box on the RH side of the screen where conky should be, I have looked at a few posts, but so far have been unable to get it working. Should I go back to an older version of the o/s (this doesn't fee like the right option) Is there a guide anywhere on how to fix conky? I am going to be mainly using WSJT-X and Pat are there any know issues with these? Thanks and Regards Paul (M0PJA)

HOWTO digipeat with Mobilinkd TNC3 and RPi Zero 2W? 20
I was inspired by the video "Portable Digipeater Build with a Pi Zero 2 W" to build my own portable digipeater, but I want to use a Mobilinkd TNC3 rather than the Digirig for the interface to the radio. The videos that I find on the web all use GUI clients (YACC, Xastir) to set up a digipeater with the Mobilinkd TNC3. Is there a non-GUI APRS client that can be used to build a digipeater with a Pi Zero 2 W and a Mobilinkd TNC3? Tnx, John WX0M

direwolf: Sound device changes at reboot or when soundcard is detached an reattached 5
Hi there sometimes when I reboot my pi, die address of the sound device changes from let's say: 1:0 to 2:0 or 1:1 So I always have to edit the direwolf.conf file to adjust the ADEVICE settings after a reboot or a soundcard removal. I know there was a video from Jason which dealed with that problem and give the soundfile a name. But couldn't find it. Thanks for your assistance. 73, Stephan -- Stephan Forth DF6PA Mainz Germany
