ADS-B - FlightRadar24 (FR24) 3
Has anyone had any luck with using the TCP socket to FLightRadar24? Here are the options from the connection: If I use Putty and telnet to these, there is data there. Just not sure what data it wants?

Beacon not shown on Map 1.0-beta209 3
the Beacon is not showing on the map. in the Beacon <TAB> i created a new beacon with - X Enabled station beacon Beacon Type: position, manual lat/lon, Display symbol: \# the remaining setting are unchanged. pressed the Save Changes button. i have enabled this beacon in both APRS-is and KISS over TCP. and saved those changes as well. on the Map i do not see my station symbol. further the BCN does not work - it has gray letters w/ white background. if i return to the Beacon <TAB> the Enable station beacon - no longer has a check in the box, the Display symbol - textbox is empty/blank. i have tried to uninstall the program from the Pi4 by removing the folders - YAAC and yaac_folder. after reinstalling the program the issues above are still present. is there another version of YAAC that i can use, if so where is located ? thanks 73, dan

GPS/GPX file points of interest 5
Good Evening, Should Point of Interest in a GPX file show up on the map or just the track section of the file? I can only seem to get the tracks to show up not the included POI. Maybe there is a switch I have missed. I have attached a sample file for you to review. Thanks, Scott - W2KP

New Weather Zones go into effect 18 March 2025 2
Tomorrow, on 18 March 2025, new National Weather Service (NWS) warning boundaries will go into effect. In order for NWS alerts to continue to be properly displayed on your APRS client (if available), new files must be installed. These files are: - County Warning Area Boundaries - https://www.weather.gov/source/gis/Shapefiles/WSOM/w_18mr25.zip - Coastal Marine Zones - https://www.weather.gov/source/gis/Shapefiles/WSOM/mz18mr25.zip - Public Forecast Zones - https://www.weather.gov/source/gis/Shapefiles/WSOM/z_18mr25.zip 73, Eric WG3K FM18rp Packet: WG3K@WG3K.#SMD.MD.USA.NOAM E-Mail: wg3k@...

Possible Bug Importing Objects 3
After importing a list of objects (file->load->object and items), they are placed on the map correctly. Several versions ago I could click on the imported object to view the comment associated with the object. Now it isn't possible to click on the object and view the comment. Here's a snippet of the file imported: ;KM4MIF *121605h3608.98N\08649.15WaHCA Enterprise Emergency Operations Center - Monitoring ;K4OC *121605h3435.88N\08628.89WaClint K4OC ;KC5HWB *121605h3444.48N\08640.45Wagreen Gigaparts ;K4RXS *121605h3511.52N\08433.49WaGREEN. Multi-op with KA4BAH and W4JUU ;AA6BD *121605h3503.51N\08508.57WaGREEN All OK using AA6BD-10 The comment isn't visible in the object/station list either. Running Mint 22 here. Is this a bug in recent versions of YAAC or am I missing something? I receive no errors during import. 73, de KM4ACK

Strange error message after antenna fell down 4
While I don't think that my antenna follwing down caused this but I did notice it after. I am currently running YAAC beta 207(1-feb-2025)on a pi4 using digipi as a sound card and Direwolf version 1.8D that I compiled from source as the TNC. I do not know if YAAC is sending out a bad packets or if the local digipeter recently started munging it. I noticed the error message on the Dierwolf output. Many different symbols on OpenStreetMap - very cluttered 4
Hi Andrew - This has been the case for some time now, but OpenStreetMap now displays many symbols that are a visual nuisance. See this screen capture: These symbols are in the YAAC>images folder. Waste receptacles, mail boxes, greenery, etc. It seems I must be able to get rid of them. I have poked around on this group and on the Internet, but so far maybe I'm using the wrong search terms. Is there a cure? %^) -- Cheers and 73 - Jon N7UV

Im thinking there might be an easier way .... 3
Hello. I've been a longtime Linux user and have used YAAC for quite a while now under Linux. I have just purchased a Microsoft Surface Pro 3. I admit to not knowing anything about Windows since Win98SE. I've searched over the web for how to get it (YAAC) running under JAVA on the Surface and have tried to look at he archives . here but have not resolved anything. I have installed both JDK (8u44??) and JRE. When i try to run it it pulls up a browser window and just makes a duplicate of the install file. Further research tells me i have to set a PATH and environment variables, etc. To me it seems l should just run WUBI and install a version of LINUX under Windows and try to run it that way. I really would appreciate any ideas anyone might have to get it to run with win 10.1. Thank-you much. Paul N6MYA

next beta build#209 of YAAC, created 2025-Feb-28
next beta build #209 of YAAC ("Yet Another APRS Client"), created 2025-Feb-28 downloadable from https://www.ka2ddo.org/ka2ddo/YAAC.html https://sourceforge.net/p/yetanotheraprsc changes and updates include: 1. fix race condition with startup of PBBS plugin for inbound connected-mode AX.25 connections. 2. add support for macro variables generated by plugins which can be referenced in the free-text comment of beacons, status, and auto-answer messages. 3. optimize the startup of the expert-mode Configuration dialog so users won't have to wait so long to see it, and add performance measurement logging to determine the worst contributors to the slow creation of the dialog. 4. add Meta key (Apple Macintosh Command key) to set of allowable modifiers to get the equivalent of a right-click on a single button mouse so right-click menus can be more easily accessed on a Mac. 5. correct the reporting of tilt direction on the line-of-sight view (was reporting up for down and vice-versa). 6. fix IndexOutOfBoundsExceptions when trying to edit private local Objects from the Station/Object list view. 7. handle website configuration errors properly when trying to download plugins (especially HTTP 404 errors). 8. fix NullPointerException from race condition in closing an APRS-IS port. 9. fix JSON parser to properly handle non-null empty arrays/lists. 10. in postal address DB plugin, fix startup NullPointerException if database JDBC driver JAR file hasn't been configured yet. 11. harden the AREDN plugin against syntax errors in JSON files from AREDN nodes, and update the knowledge base of directional AREDN node types. 12. add menu bar to timeslot analysis plugin's statistics table view so the table can be printed and exported as a CSV file. 13. fix RV Telemetry plugin to allow setting macro values, fix deleting constant definitions, allow setting GPIO output pins as the result of telemetry analysis, add support for SN3218 LED driver chip (as used on the Pimoroni Automation Hat), fix scaling errors reading ADC1x15 analog0-to-digital converter chips, allow configurable I2C bus number (to work with different models of Raspberry Pi), and protect algorithm processor from crashing on bad HTTP reads. 14. fix sound file playback in the Sounds plugin, and add Maven unit tests to verify the functionality keeps working. Note this may cause build failures if someone tries to build YAAC using Maven in an environment without a sound card (such as on a cloud virtual machine).

APRS Group messages 4
So I am able to send a group message by use the "To:" at the bottom via wide1,wide 2. Is YAAC capable a receiving a group message directly? or do I have to filter out from the messages. Sincerely, Eugene Mosqueda Dominus Providebit

inconsistent map behavior 8
I have the current YAAC version running on different machines. On one ( a RPi 4) NWS raster overlay maps are displayed and refreshed every few minutes. On the other, (an x86 machine), the maps do not refresh. If I delete a previously loaded NWS map, and manually load a new one, the map displays. Subsequent maps are not displayed. If I look at the "raster maps" window, I always find the enable box unchecked. This happens even though "enable" is checked after loading the first map. Have I mis-configured the second machine somehow? 73, NX2I

next beta build#208 of YAAC, created 2025-Feb-16
next beta build #208 of YAAC ("Yet Another APRS Client"), created 2025-Feb-16 downloadable from https://www.ka2ddo.org/ka2ddo/YAAC.html https://sourceforge.net/p/yetanotheraprsc changes and updates include: 1. set the position ambiguity correctly for raw GPS sentence position messages. 2. fix distance unit selection in preferences tab of expert-mode Configuration dialog so smaller versions of distance units for various systems of units cannot be selected by accident, and fix upgrader in case some user used the erroneous selection ability to foul up their configuration. 3. ensure YAAC and its upgraders always consistently try to find the correct path to the Java interpreter to ensure launching of upgrade stages does not fail to start the next stage. 4. fix typo introduced in build#181 that broke the calculation of Aloha circles. 5. when issuing the Locate->Station directive for a station whose position is not currently known (and YAAC sends a directed query to get the station's position), ensure that if the position report is so delayed in responding that the user is no longer viewing a map window in YAAC, the map is still updated with the received location. 6. add error check to APRS Status packet configuration to warn users if they are going to enable a status packet with text added to it, or to use Maidenhead locator position in the Status packet that report differently than the Position beacon packets also being sent. 7. fix configuration wizard to not re-create a duplicate of any GPS port in use by YAAC every time the wizard is re-run. 8. fix the packet transmission logic against incorrectly digipeating through a non-APRS port (such as the TAK plugin's port type). 9. fix symbol rendering for ATV symbol "/V" (means amateur television, not all-terrain vehicle, which is overlay code "Ak"). 10. add more entries to help index. 11. fix formatting errors in built-in help files. 12. release the timeslot usage analysis plugin, which provides extra analysis views for determining RF channel usage. 13. add support of more APRS symbols in translating APRS packets to CoT event messages. 14. fix the saving of team "color" selection in the TAK plugin.

Filtered message options
When using filtered messages is it possible to enter a call sign with SSID in the Filter by Addressee field? Some are auto filled but I can't figure out how to enter a dash manually. Also is the * symbol supposed to act like a wildcard? What about other wildcard characters? I can't make any of them work.
