Thanks for your reply. ?I’ve used Winlink over HF for many years via a Parallels Windows VM. ?Recently I changed to a Mac Mini M1 for its lower power consumption. ?But Parallels only supports Windows 11 for ARM64 on M1 and there’s no driver for my IC7300 USB-Serial Bridge. ?Direwolf and YAAC on the other hand run natively on the M1. The thing is that I do receive a reply, so it seems someone’s willing to talk to me… Am I correct in understanding these are the APRS-IS stations which forwarded my request… Would you suggest I try to message these folks via YAAC or another means? The main thing stopping me using Winlink direct is an ARDOP app for M1. ?I’ve got PAT, HAMLIB etc running but can’t find ARDOP. ?Do you know of an ARDOP app for M1? Cheers, Mike. Another possible issue is that the windowing graphics library is not always highly responsive, so the redrawing of the blinkenlight from red to black might be delayed until the library or graphics driver decides to repaint that widget. I have seen issues (usually when scrolling) when part of the scrolled window doesn't update immediately.

Re: Send Email via HF
Greetings.
It sounds like you are in an impossible situation. If you are trying to using the WLNK-1 server on APRS-IS over HF, I expect you will be disappointed. I expect there would be very few HF transmit I-gates anyway, just because of the limited bandwidth on a 300-baud channel and how easily the channel could be flooded world-wide with excessive IS->RF forwarding. Note that WLNK-1 is not a station; it is a server on the APRS-IS backbone. Your querying of aprs.fi showed you which I-gate stations are forwarding your RF packets to the APRS-IS; you would have to ask those station's control operators whether or not their stations are transmit-capable, but I would guess none of them are. Also, there are some known bugs in YAAC's code for talking to the WLNK-1 server, so even if you were working on a frequency where IS->RF gating was available to you, it might not work. You might want to switch to another service, like direct WinLink, instead of trying to use WinLink over APRS. What is the port type of the RF port? For AGWPE ports, I had to put in a timer to guess when the blinkenlight should stop being red, because the TCP socket connection can send the packet to AGWPE/DireWolf/Soundmodem/etc. far faster than the software TNC can actually send the packet out to RF, such that you would never see the blinkenlight as red (less than a millisecond to forward the packet to the TNC). downloadable from or changes and updates include: 1. fix digipeating and Tx-I-gating that was broken by build#178. Also fix older bugs regarding digipeating if multiple RF ports are open (cross-band digipeater). 2. collect digipeating and I-gating statistics on a per-port basis, display this information in Bandwidth Monitor display. 3. add ability to provide additional Station Capabilities from plugins, which would be reported in the Station Capability response to the ?IGATE query. 4. add capabilities reporting to PBBS plugin. 5. allow user to specify arbitrary overlays for alternate symbols, not just defined APRS 1.2 extended symbols. |

This is getting exceptionally weird. Please, each person that is having digipeat problems, please privately send me your exported current configuration. It sounds like something disappeared from your configuration that enabled digipeating and Tx I-gating, hence it no longer happened. Re: Installing on a Mac running OS12.6
The first paragraph (above the detailed directions) is how to install YAAC anywhere. Just unzip the YAAC.zip file into a directory of your choice, and ensure you have a Java runtime installed.
Now, there apparently is a new security feature in Mac OS X that prevents arbitrary applications from opening files. Unfortunately, YAAC is a Java application, so you would have to grant access to all Java applications to directories where YAAC would store files (such as its log and map tile directories, and its Java preference directories). ________________________________________ From: [email protected] <[email protected]> on behalf of Paul/W1BIU - York Beach, Maine <paul.w1biu@...> Sent: Sunday, October 9, 2022 4:20 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [yaac-users] Installing on a Mac running OS12.6 I've downloaded YAAC from the website, but the directions there seem to be for Raspberry Pi. Re: Map disappears when drag the map ?
There are a few reasons this could happen; since you haven't reported any log information from your YAAC.out log file (which contains a record of error messages from YAAC), I'm going to have to guess.
1. You have made a major upgrade of YAAC (several build numbers) since the last time you downloaded your map data, such that there was an incompatible change in the map data structure that is causing the failure. Download fresh map data (that would have been imported with the newer structure) to fix the problem. Or, conversely, you have downloaded new map data into a very old version of YAAC; in that case, upgrade YAAC to the latest build. 2. You have a very slow computer and are in an area with extremely dense map data, so it takes noticeable time to re-render and you're simply not waiting long enough. For example, although the map tiles for Antartica are only a few kilobytes, the map tiles for London, England (the home of the OpenStreetMap Foundation) are over 50 megabytes per tile. 3. There is an occasional race condition in the map renderer where it aborts the render due to a code collision. I have not been able to replicate this in order to determine how to fix it. Try moving the map just a little and see if it re-renders successfully. Hope this helps.
