The first paragraph (above the detailed directions) is how to install YAAC anywhere. Just unzip the YAAC.zip file into a directory of your choice, and ensure you have a Java runtime installed.
Now, there apparently is a new security feature in Mac OS X that prevents arbitrary applications from opening files. Unfortunately, YAAC is a Java application, so you would have to grant access to all Java applications to directories where YAAC would store files (such as its log and map tile directories, and its Java preference directories).

I've downloaded YAAC from the website, but the directions there seem to be for Raspberry Pi.
