Moving Fldigi from C:\ to D:\
3
Is there an easy way to move my Fldigi install from my C:\ Drive to another Drive like D:\ without having to re-install the software? Are there any Configuration settings I can change to do this? I could not find any setting under the Config Dialog Menu. I would like to install as much as possible to another Drive designation because my C:\ drive is getting full. I want to move both C:\Program Files, C:\Program Files (x86) and C:\Users\*\fl* files.

Winter Field Day Logging Bug
During WFD, the Fldigi logging window would not accept any 'Mobile' class or several sections (WNY & PA just to name two) entries by clicking on them. Had to enter them manually. Other than that, the software worked flawlessly. Tom, WA9AFM

4.2.06: Transmit color changes not persistent
Use Case. 1. Select Configure -> ConfigDialog > Colors-Fonts > Rx-Tx. 2. Left click on XMIT color button. Move the slider down to a darker red. Click OK. 3. XMIT button does not change color. Red default continues as transmit color. 4.2.04 works as expected. Upon sliding down to darker red XMIT button and text take on new color. This is my first post and I hope this is the right place for bug reports. Please point me to right place on sourceforge if not. Thank you in advance. KM2B -- mike.km2b@...

Multiple instance question
7
Hi Dave, A group of us are testing various ways to use multiple instances of fldigi (current alpha version) that include some automatic modes. I have "discovered" that if I run 2 fldigi instances in the following manner there is potential for a "key up collision" that leaves the connections confused: IC-7300 - dial freq 7.1025MHz fldigi (instance 1) THOR22 @ 2000Hz fldigi (instance 2) FSQ @1500Hz Beacon enabled flrig 1 instance controlling transceiver - both fldigi instances using it THOR22 is being used as data channel for FSQ network works well and is stable. PSM is engaged. I added in an APRS client (PinPoint) by TCP/IP connection to fldigi instance 1. THOR22 is used as the transport layer for the APRS packet. If FSQ sounds and the APRS client beacons concurrently the transmit attempts to overlap. While sound is generated concurrently, the extra overlapping commands confuse the transceiver and flrig. Unpredictable things begin to happen during the transmission. This is not surprising. I have tried force the "collision" without PSM engaged and I get the same result. Now, I had innocently hoped that the fldigi PSM function included a way to sense and inform flrig of the second concurrent transmit request and tell the other fldigi instance to wait until after the first sound or beacon had completed. The PSM settings would determine the wait time before the second transmission request is made. Rather obviously that is not the case. Is such a "arbiter function" possible? How difficult would that function be to code? My C coding skills are to rudimentary and too rusty for me to even contemplate doing that with the flrig and fldigi code. To simplify the use case: Looking for a way for a single instance of flrig to signal multiple instances of fldigi using it that the transceiver is in TX mode already and to wait until after the transmission is done before sending the next TX request. The response would be similar to the squelch function and PSM. Thanks in advance for thinking through my inquiry with me and hope it made sens. Jack Spitznagel KD4IZ FM19oo Parkton, MD

FLDIGI Hanging (crashing or hangs up)
Hi Jack (KD4IZ)m I try after a longer time again. This one 4.2.06.... The crash or hangup still exist. If possible by the user, first Page he hangs up or crash. If I am super lucky, I come to the Point of the Sound card, last hang up or crash. Not possible to enter, finish the setup. Always, I can kill the Process. Kind regards Christian (HB9TH jr. )

Good evening, I am new to Flrig/Fldigi. I followed instructions on this video Fldigi / Flrig Software Setup From A to Z - For Ham Radio Digital Modes, but am getting an error when I try to init flrig. I am using a Yaesu FT891 with Digirig. If anyone has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it. Error: Transceiver not responding! Problem with fldigi installation - need help!
My name is Andy KD2LQA. I'm looking for assistance in resolving an issue I have had installing FLdigi. My laptop computer is pretty much dedicated to Ham radio functions. Running Windows 10 Home. Radio is a Yaesu FT-450D. Before I attempted to install FLdigi, I had Winlink Express, VarAc, JS8Call, and Vara HF all installed and working properly together. Rig control was working perfectly. I downloaded the software and installed it following the online guide to FLdigi. Everything was fine until the directions told me to use "Hamlib". I selected and initialized Hamlib. Then my CAT control stopped working. I stopped right there and began trying to undo what I had done. I tried to uninstall and then delete all files. I couldn't delete all files because some were now tied into my system. When I open VarAC and open the settings screen, it shows that Hamlib has integrated itself into the CAT control of VarAC. How can I completely uninstall fldigi and Hamlib from my system so I can start over? I can still use Winlink,JS8Call,and VarAC, but rig control does not work. Radio must be controlled and changed manually. Any help, advice, or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Andy KD2LQA Conversation opened. 1 read message. Screenshot (1).png Displaying EDM Minutes 15 Jan 25.docx. Page 1 of 2 You can see that Hamlib now shows up in the settings screen in the rig control area. Can you help me fix this? The only thing I can think of at this point is to have my tech shop wipe the hard drive and reinstall everything from scratch. I can still use Winlink, JS8Call, and VarAC, but rig control does not work. Radio freq. must be changed manually. Any help, advice, or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Andy KD2LQA

Macro Line Comments

#macros
Anyone know of a way to temporarily comment out a line in a macro? Would like to easily change a macro definition by temporarily commenting out a line and then restoring the definition later by uncommenting it. Didn¡¯t notice it defined anywhere in the manual.

IC7300.xml not running on W7
3
I rececently installed Fldigi 4.1.06 on W7. The waterfall displays and signals are being printed on the screen but CAT is not controlling the transceiver. On the rig configure screen the IC7300.xml shows up in the rig description box. I opened it and saved it but it does not do any controlling. The device box shows COM1. The device manager does not show up the driver in the ports section. What am I missing here?

Flrig required?

#CWTYPE
#fldigi
#flrig
#hamlib
#IC-7300
I'm trying to learn about FLDIGI. Am I required to use FLRIG? I tried to use FLDIGI stand alone, Hamlib and IC7610, it will change / show frequency and modes, but nothing is transmitted. I don't think I need to use any of the other FLDIGI files, if so please let me know. I'm also getting WinKeyer and will have to set that up later on. Thanks for your time on this. SCAMP mode
11
https://github.com/profdc9/fldigi code shows in /src and /src/include the new digital mode SCAMP but to use it we must compile Fldigi from source. Will a new installable Fldigi allow us to use this new communication digital mode? 73 - Pierre - FK8IH

Minor Issues with Linsim Channel Simulator-Early tests and thoughts
7
I have been doing some evaluations of Linsim and I have identified a couple of minor issues. In my early tests, I selected 1 path and a spread of 1Hz and and AWGN with SNR=25dB. I did one set of tests at a sample rate of 8kbs and another set at 48kbs. I repeated the tests with path 1 selected, a spread of 1Hz, and an offset of +5Hz. I am using Windows 11+Dell G10 laptop. Observations 1. I intercomapared Linsim v2.0.4 and and Moe Wheatley's Pathsim v1.0. I generated a 1kHz sinewave with a 60 sec duration at a sample rate of 8kbs. In this case the time domain wave forms exhibited very similar envelope fluctuations. When I performed an FFT on the records the resulting spectra exhibited a Gaussian shape with the same width. When I applied an offset of +5.0Hz, the spectrum shifted up by 5.0Hz with Pathsim. With Linsim, the Gaussian spectrum shifted down by -5.0 Hz. So there is a potential sign error with the offset in the Linsim code. 2. I performed an additional set of tests with a 1kHz sinewave with a 60sec duration and a sample rate of 48kbs. In this case I did not use Pathsim since it only works with a sample rate of 8kbs. I first applied the 1kHz sinewave to Linsim with Path 1 selected, a spread of 1 Hz, and 0 offset. The resulting output waveform exhibited much faster envelope fluctuations. This was confirmed with the FFT, which showed markedly wider Gaussian spectrum-the width increased approximately 6x. 3. I suspected that this spread issue has something to do with the different data rates since is 6x larger than the 8kbs case. I then repeated the test with a spread of 1/6 = 0.166, that corresponds to the ratio of the data rates 8kbs/48kbs. The resulting spectrum using an FFT showed the correct shape and frequency spread. 4. I think this spreading issue can be corrected in Linsim by applying a scale factor to the spread that accounts for the ratio: 8kbs/(the selected date rate kbs)--My best guess :-) 5. When I applied a +5.0 Hz offset with the 48kbs sinewave the resulting spectrum shifted down -5.0 Hz. So this Offset sign error is the same at the higher sample rates. Summary 1. Linsim is a robust and much needed update to Pathsim that enables processing of .wav files for a variety of data rates in the range 8kbs to 48 kbs. 2. When using Linsim at data rates other than 8kbs, adjust the spread using a scale factor of 8kbs/(the selected data rate kbs). 3. There is a sign error in the offset. So simply switch the sign of the desired frequency offset. 4. I have applied pulse trains generated with Matlab to Linsim and I will report on my findings soon. Bob Johnk, WB0VGD Arvada, Colorado
