Ken, You need to upload your file again. ?The wrong file ended up in ProblemsBeingWorkedOn/Ken Fordham. Re: Cannot manually move cars in Operations

If the train is not terminated after building, cars appear in the previous (starting) locations when JMRI is restarted or restored.? I did not see the word "terminate" in any discussion.

We would like to point out that this list is for discussions related to JMRI, and is intended to be a place that people, particularly beginners, can turn to for help with their JMRI problems from more experienced JMRI users.
General DCC and model railroading topics should be taken to a more appropriate forum and NOT be posted here. SPAM of any kind, politics, legal issues, and other off-topic matters should NOT be posted to the list and will be subject to deletion by the moderators, as will any responses to such off-topic matters. New members still on moderated status will find that off-topic posts will not be approved for posting, and old members making such posts may find themselves back on moderated status. BUY / SELL and ADVERTISING is NOT PERMITTED Let's keep things simple for all of us, and keep the discussion here on-topic. Your moderators |

Re: Saving Throttles
#jmrithrottle
Lionel,
?
In the process of trying to save the output log, I saw some references to slots. I went to the slots monitor tab and estopped, cleared unused slots and refreshed the list. That was apparently the problem or the problem was in there somewhere.
?
I was able to save the throttles layout, reboot and reopen the file.
?
Thanks to everyone for all of the help. I thought I would just need to leave the computer on all the time. Hopefully this doesn't reoccur.?

Well bummer, as I am sure I don’t have it enabled.
Good to know it’s possible, I will enable it now. -- Heath -- Heath @ Human[c]ity ( ) ( ) ( ) |
Morgan, I'd agree with that, but I'd still like the answers to the questions. The decoder coud certaily be fulty - most likely problem, even. But it could also be something as simple as normally operating with a standard DC controller, and now finding that the DCC throttle is not, as expected, in yard mode. That would be very simple. Still not JMRI, though! :-) But based on what we actually know, guesswork is pointless. Wouter On Tue, 24 Sept 2024 at 17:05, Morgan f Bilbo via <fan4pennsy=[email protected]> wrote:

Wouter: Thanks for clarifying. I must have missed that.
I guess the main thrust in this thread is: "Is this a JMRI matter". And that's where PeterU was correct. So what I refer to is that if the OP has trouble with a Digitrax and MRC decoders, it isn't with the decoder/and now, not JMRI. It's something else.

Louis, Or turn off Malwarebyte for the download and install and then turn it on again. Morgan: yes, he did say it runs in both directions on DC, but that was without the decoder inside. Whether it runs in both directions on DC with the decoder in place (and programmed to enable DC running) is a whole different matter - and that was my question. But thanks for making the point, because it was too easy to misread. Wouter On Tue, 24 Sept 2024 at 16:25, Morgan f Bilbo via <fan4pennsy=[email protected]> wrote:

PeterU: I can agree with you about this not being a JMRI issue. But the OP did say he tried 3 MRC decoders. So, it's not the decoder either.
It must be the way he programs them.
As for a PR4 vs a SPROG. I'd prefer the SPROG. But since the original question refers to a "Digitrax DN163K1B in a Kato SD70ACe", then I'd choose the PR4.
And Wouter: He did say it runs both directions on DC.
Just MHO. l'm not criticizing anyone.

The simple answer is the decoder is no good. Do you have another you can try in it's place.
Maybe contact Digitrax directly and ask them. This appears to be a Digitrax issue and not JMRI. -- Peter Ulvestad JMRI Users Group Moderator ( ) Tam Valley Group Moderator ( ) Sprog-DCC Group Moderator ( ) Edmonton Model Railroad Association ( ) |
So many questions! 1) How is this JMRI related? 2) Are you running it under DCC or DC power when it only wants to go in one direction? 3) What command station is active when you run the loco (so not on the program track)?4) What throttle do you use to run it under DCC? 5) Does it run in both directions on DC (with DC enabled)? 6) What do the directional lights do? Probably more... Wouter On Tue, 24 Sept 2024 at 12:44, pauldannenberg64 via <pauldannenberg64=[email protected]> wrote:

For logging trains and rolling stock, you need to enable it.

Thanks for the responses.? After further work I have solved the problem of display on start-up.? I set up a LogixNG command in JMRI to query all sensors.? This is invoked when JMRI starts up and does correctly display the condition of all the sensors.
?
I have some further work to do because a few sensors don't always report properly when turnouts are switched.? This might be because I haven't used twisted cable for the RS connection to the LZV100.? That's the next thing to try...
