Re: Stopping distance from stop sensor
Thanks, Steve.?
but pardon my ignorance but where do I specify the action to use estop instead of plain stop? Is it done in the transit table? --

Re: "Error Initializing PanelPro" upon JMRI Startup
Isaac, Upload the messages.log file to the group's ProblemsBeingWorkedOn file folder. ?It will be located in the "C:\Users\<username>\JMRI\log directory. Have tried multiple times since and even uninstalled then reinstalled both Java and JMRI and still get the same error. I've searched this group and the manual to no avail. Running Java 11 and JMRI 5.2 on Windows 10, afaik Any ideas how to resolve? Thanks, Isaac |

I've now tried hooking up the USB connection in addition to the Ethernet connection and I'm getting the same results.??
My first question is, is there a way to change the timeout setting, so it doesn't take so long before it times out and starts reading or writing the second item?? Once it times out on the first thing it's reading or writing on the program track, it will read/write the rest just fine. ?
I also tried programming on the mainline and this works great every single time with no timeouts and no issues to report whatsoever.? This didn't make sense to me, so I replaced my programming track with some Kato Unitrack and new wiring but still get the same results on the programming track.
?
So now I do everything except a reset, address changing, and reading pages directly on the main since it never errors out, but with my Lenz 3.6 system, I cannot change the address, reset the loco, or read anything on the mainline and don't want to spend over $400 to upgrade my system just to be able to do these three things.
?
Instead, I'd much rather figure this problem out.
?
Does anyone have any further ideas?? Can I change the timeout "time" so it times out faster so I don't have to wait so long when doing things on the programming track?
Finally, what could cause writing to fail on the programming track for the first write every single time but never ever have any trouble when writing when on the mainline? Thanks, ?

Years ago, I purchased and used those little things. Spring loaded switch. Up is forward, down is reverse. My issue with them was getting them to stop the loco completely like a potentiometer knobbed throttle would do. James¡¯ idea with the BT knob would be perfect if it was a pot type and not encoder style. A BT center off toggle switch for the direction (like the UT4) would be great but can you use 2 BT devices on one device at the same time? Again, I¡¯m looking for the UT4 type action of not having to look at the throttle in use and using the toggle switch to control the momentum and accel/decel equipped loco while switching.? |

Re: Decoderpro version 5.10

Did you follow the procedure in the JMRI release notes on how to do the update? Once the update is done you shouldn't need to import anything. On Wed, 8 Jan 2025 at 19:41, Roger Booth via <rbooth123=[email protected]> wrote:

Decoderpro version 5.10
#definitions
Hi,
?
I am new to the group but I have been using DecoderPro for years in my Windows (now 10) setup.
I decided to update to version 5.10 and also downloaded the Azul java 17. All installed fine and it was working as it should.
However I wanted to upload a new Decoder profile that I had modified which validated fine but I could not get it to upload using the Import File. I even tried modifying the xml Decoder Index but that didn't work either.
So I uninstalled 5.10 and installed 4.26, and had no problem in importing my decoder file and all worked fine.?
Any thoughts why had issues with 5.10?
Thanks.

Regards

Re: Semaphore signals

Response from the manafacturer.?
?
Hi Howard, ? I assume that the decoder drive you purchased was the 4L-001-001 (or the TrainTech SC3)? ? Forgetting JMRI for the moment, once the decoder drive is set up, it is triggered by entering the accessory DCC address on a DCC handset, and then setting the ¡®direction¡¯ left or right (or north or south in some DCC systems¡¯ parlance). So, it is expecting to receive DCC commands the same as those for a point motor. ? I¡¯m not an expert with JMRI as I have only used pat of it (DecoderPro) for creating a library of loco decoder settings, so I have no idea what the ¡°NMRA Extended Accessory Decoder¡± mode is. In my logical way of thinking, I would set it up in JMRI as a point motor, which I think you have done when you say it only works with a switch command (that is, American ¡®switch¡¯ for English ¡®point¡¯ or ¡®turnout¡¯), but maybe I¡¯m mis-reading your words! ? The 4A-001-001 (and the 4A-001-002) can only be configured as far as setting the addresses; there are no other options available. ? I hope this helps, but please let me know if you have any further queries. ? Best regards, Keith ? From:?Howard Witt <howard@...>

Hi Keith
?
Purchased two home signals and your decoder drive. However it does not seem to work with JMRI? ?It only works with a switch command such as a turn out address.?
Can device be?reconfigured the to use the "NMRA Extended Accessory Decoder" mode??

One option (and I am not sure if it is possible) would be to NOT use VNC at all and instead do SSH / X11 tunneling. I don't know what is available for iOS, but openssh is installed by default under MacOS and iOS is actually the same "under the hood" (both are layered on top of Darwin, which is a BSD variant). -- Robert Heller -- Cell: 413-658-7953 GV: 978-633-5364 Deepwoods Software -- Custom Software Services -- Linux Administration Services heller@... -- Webhosting Services |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýWOW, this is SO unpredictable I wondered if it was a difference between the iOS version of RealVNC and the Windows version (and whether to try TigerVNC on Windows) BUT Sometimes single windows can be minimised. Then after a Pi restart, only ALL the windows can be minimised (on Win or iOS). Then after another restart, individual windows are minimisable (maybe) Looks like either a problem in the WayVNC server or something I can't imagine And as I ONLY have access to my Pi through VNC, I don't think the VNC server is going to be easy to change I guess i'm stuck with it Phil G On 07/01/2025 22:21, Nigel Cliffe via

Getting latest decoder definitions vs. JMRI release vs. Java version
Am I right in believing that latest decoder definitions are available ONLY in the most recent release of JMRI?
Although my PC is no dinosaur, I am told that Java 8 is the latest version it will handle, and that in turn restricts me to JMRI 4.2.6 and, for example, I am unable to get definitions for Digitrax SDH167D; the nearest my JMRI offers is SDH164D.
If there's a way around this, do please tell.
