Re: Windows behaviour on Ras Pi/Wayland

WOW, this is SO unpredictable

I wondered if it was a difference between the iOS version of RealVNC and the Windows version (and whether to try TigerVNC on Windows)

BUT

Sometimes single windows can be minimised. Then after a Pi restart, only ALL the windows can be minimised (on Win or iOS). Then after another restart, individual windows are minimisable (maybe)

Looks like either a problem in the WayVNC server or something I can't imagine

And as I ONLY have access to my Pi through VNC, I don't think the VNC server is going to be easy to change

I guess i'm stuck with it

WayVNC the Pi side.? Pi documentation is here:?

I recommend following it on choice of both settings on the Pi and their recommended client for accessing the Pi.? ??

There are differences in how the Pi behaves with different VNC clients,? which may manifest themselves as looking like odd UI behaviour.? ? ??

Actually, scratch that

It's RealVNC at the client side, but not 100% sure about the server(Pi) side - it says "WayVNC"?? But it may still be RealVNC

As I didn't build the image (it's one of Steve Todds) how would I know which VNC is running??

Currently RealVNC at both "ends"

I've noticed differences in how Raspberry Pi's behave with different VNC
tools.

Subject [jmriusers] Windows behaviour on Ras Pi/Wayland

Just noticed something odd

I¡¯m running JMRI 5.11.1 on a RasPi

My startup opens a panel window, the WiThrottle window and the main PanelPro window

If I VNC in and try to minimise ANY window, they all minimise at once. If I restore one, they all restore together

Any OTHER windows I open during aJMRI session behave independently (as I¡¯d expect). If I minimise one, ONLY that one is minimised

Is this really the way it should be working or is it a quirk off Wayland??

Thanks
