Hi,
Are you sure that your servo is compatible with DCC++? A standard RC servo requires a pulse width modulated signal, which the arduino servo library will generate, if that's what you have used in your test sketch. ?I'm possibly wrong here but I suspect the DCC++ code just puts out a logic high or low depending on the turnout setting, which won't drive a standard RC servo. DP feature request
Is it possible to add a column/field on the roster sheet for a consist address and have DP fill it in if the loco has a consist address. Thanks.

Re: JMRI is broken (?)
Bob? Here is an update to the above problem we discussed in Jan 2019.?
I replaced my new NCE box with the old Wangrow box. I now have control of the UNK OFF ON radio button. Next I will upgrade the JMRI version. Suppose the NCE box was defective???? The one item I did not try was to replace the PS DB9 cable to computer w/ USB cable; as the cable does currently work but newer NCE might not like PS DB9??? |

Re: Cantons / Stop trains in block with red signal
开云体育Dennis, BTW: will have a Asymmetric Stopping block module soon with 4 stopping block outputs, also an expansion board to add an additional 4 stopping blocks. You can go more in increments of 4 also. You can build your own Asymmetric Stopping block modules for less than $1 per module, using 1N5404 diodes and using this circuit: Less difficult than attaching track droppers to your DCC bus. 开云体育do you have enough current available??? The servo draws ~ 150mA when it's moving.?? You can turn it off once it's had a chance to stabilize.?? You may want to put the servo on an auxiliary power supply. On 7/22/2019 6:55 AM, rsauerbrun wrote:

开云体育Hi Ken, I recommend that you download the drivers for USB interface and reinstall them.???? I have found in the past that whenever Windows 10 installs updates the SILABS drivers have problems and need to be reinstalled. On 7/22/2019 3:48 PM, Kenneth Skopp

Before I do That I have done some more digging and I have discovered a number of car location problems. I want to clear them and see how it builds. This train has always been an easy build. Jerry |

Hi Jerry,
What does the build report say about the cars not being picked up.? If the build report isn't too long, you can copy and paste the entire report for us to review for you. Dan |

Re: Cantons / Stop trains in block with red signal
Brake on DC is very crude compared to Assymetric DCC. With Assymetric loco sounds still operate, and react with the changing speed of the engine as it slows and then accelerates. With brake on DC no DCC functions operate while on DC track.

Using Steve's RPi-JMRI distro for many months now on a couple of layouts killing power has not caused problems. A possible warning is if the Pi is doing other things too, not just being Steve's JMRI machine, then there is a possibility that there is disk activity and the ?SD was being written to, then there could be corruption to the drive. My Pi's are not running as a RR controller but rather as bullet proof WiFi access points where my friends are not opening their home net to strangers. Huge selling point... open house/guest session and the "hey can I use my phone?" Is a sure... server is RPi-JMRI password is rpI-jmri... Love it! Off topic, sorta... I never had that problem with Brake on DC between blocks, or never noticed that.
My blocks where very long. BTW: will have a Asymmetric Stopping block module soon with 4 stopping block outputs, also an expansion board to add an additional 4 stopping blocks. You can go more in increments of 4 also. Dennis |

Build Pickup Problems
I am building a train with nine locations. In 3 of the locations the build does not pick up the car currently located at the location.
Therefore in those locations it places cars picked up from other locations served by this train, . The build report does not indicate any problems with track length, I have adjusted the initial move count. I do notice that the reserves are high for these 3 locations than the other locations Jerry Hampton |

I dont know what the experts do, but when I get a com port error starting JMRI in Windows 10 I edit the com port setting and restart JMRI. 开云体育Phil:the Condensed Code is a fantastic resource for operating on Western (West of the Alleghenys)?? TT&TO railroads! ALL serious operators should have a copy in their grip. ?? However, if you are modeling a prototype signal system you will find they were highly idiosyncratic (almost every Railroad did them a little differently) so it is very useful to find the appropriate rule book from your prototype (usually available on eBay for about $20 if you wait a while) and the era appropriate ETT which will usually have all the Special Instructions (and most of the unique -- shall we say funky? -- signals are addressed in the SIs).?? It is also handy to have as many photos as possible of signals on the subdivision(s) in question at the date being modeled.?? Think rivet counting on freight cars!?? Since you're going to do the work anyway, why not model the iconic and unique features of your prototype? On 7/22/2019 4:59 AM, Phil in gorgeous

Re: Cantons / Stop trains in block with red signal
开云体育Dennis, Brake on DC is much more difficult to do properly because there will be a short circuit at the gaps between any DC brake section and a normal DCC section. This means that the DC should be supplied via a tail light lamp or other current limiter to adsorb the short as wheels and metal trucks cross the gaps. This is reduced if you switch the entire approach block to DC, but can still be an issue with long trains. (longer than a block) On the positive side I think all decoders will brake on DC if you turn off analog mode. Asymmetric on the other hand does not cause any shorting at the
gaps and needs no special protection nor separate power supply. Dick :) On 7/22/2019 11:47 AM, Dennis Cherry
