The helpers are just a note on the train's manifest.? The program doesn't move them in the database, so the return is up to you, but the expectation by the program is that the helpers return to their starting location.

Further to the "how to ask your question" item - I can think of one DCC-system-specific situation which might be in play. But the OP has not (so far as I have noticed) defined which DCC system is in use, so I am not going to speculate and further muddy the waters!

Yes, that is correct.? The 23_2 version is the one where I needed to edit the XML file to change LS0 to LS930 because the new version of JMRI did not like the LS0 designation.? That is the latest version of my panel file.

If the problem is not ports sleeping, or computer sleeping, then more information is needed as Billybob pointed out.? I remember that scripts have been an issue when "stalling" because an endless loop keeps the computer busy.? If there are scripts running on that computer, that might be an important piece of information for troubleshooting.

I believe if you want to get the helpers back down the hill you'll need to create a route and a train to build.? Give that a try.

Hi Matt,

That's one of the great things about JMRI.? You can pick and choose the functions you want and can ignore the others.? I've given clinics on using JMRI operations at NMRA regional and national conventions and wrote an article?published in Model Railroad Hobbyist and the Op SIG journal, so the information is out there.? I think at some point I should update those articles since there has been a great deal of improvements since then.

I didn't realize the DS and Clerk were in two different locales around here we don't have the luxury of having that many operators. If we can get the feature without it being mandatory for operations it sounds like a good idea.One of the problems I run into when teaching someone new is trying to get them to start simple then go for the neat stuff after they learn the basics. Edit the existing Light and add a "One Sensor Light Control", see


You can then use the Sensor to operate the Light.

Not assessing if the USB port going to sleep is the issue here, however, you can change a setting in Windows to make the USB ports not go to sleep at all. ?That would cure/remedy the ¡®going to sleep¡¯ issue.

At least on Win 7 you can¡­

You have not given us anything to work with, but one common issue is that Windows will disconnect the serial ports if it goes to sleep. JMRI does not know how to get them going again when Windows wakes up again. The answer is simple. Don't do that. I.e. don't let Windows shut down when there is no activity, or at least set the time before snoozing to a long time with no activity.

For example, I suspect that "runaway" scripts with endless loops are the most common issue of a working JMRI that seems to be "stalling" but really, is just too busy to take input from you.? Really bad endless loops can overflow the memory on the computer and actually lock up the computer too.? I have not seen Logix cause that issue, but I have not seen it all, and am not an expert in that.

I manually manipulated "CatalogTree" for each signal head set to 8 icon definitions.? I tried changing "DWARF and TALLMAST to 8 deleting the LUNAR aspects, but it definitely did not like that!

I changed all signal head definitions in the layout XML file to have 8 icon definitions, and each also now has an icon set definition.? Signal heads still can't be drag-and-dropped from "ADD ITEMS" "SIGNAL HEADS", nor can they be changed by right clicking on signal head and "EDIT SIGNAL HEAD ICON".

I think I'm just going to stop adding signal heads until the code is updated - too much work for this lazy old guy to manually change the layout XML code for each new signal head.

Definitely looking forward to solution!

I currently have a layout with dcc lighting for various objects like buildings and streetlights.? I have added to the lights table (ex. LL51, LL52) for the lights and i'm able to control them (on and off) thru that table on the computer. But I would like to add icons onto my decoder pro layout panel. Is there a way that I can place an icon like LL51 on the panel that I could click to turn on or off that light. Currently I'm using turnout icons but that creates other issues like unconnected tracks. I'm open for suggestions.?

Locked ERROR - Uncaught Exception while adding an ill formatted LCC HW address

 

Hey Guys,

Doing some OpenLCB programming. I was adding a turnout to the turnout table to later add to a panel. I added the following HW address (which is incorrect) "02.01.12.7F.5C.A4.00;02.01.7F.5C.A4.01". When I hit the "Create" button I get no induction from the system of the incorrect address and the uncaught error in the system console is produced.

When I correct format the address to "02.01.12.7F.5C.A4.00.00;02.01.7F.5C.A4.00.01", The highlighted information is what I added to make it correct, the system creates the entry in the table as expected. JRMI 4.19.2 in use but also tested in 4.18 produce the same result.

I think it is a bug but I will leave it your discretion.

I found the spot that allows me to assign single locos to a train. Is there anyway to pickup and set out in route?
