I didn't realize the DS and Clerk were in two different locales around here we don't have the luxury of having that many operators. If we can get the feature without it being mandatory for operations it sounds like a good idea.One of the problems I run into when teaching someone new is trying to get them to start simple then go for the neat stuff after they learn the basics. The most of the calls I get is from newbies wanting to run schedules, alt. tracks and some of the other things that are great about this program when they have never even built a single train. The biggest thing we as experienced operators with JMRI is to teach the newbies is the KISS method and help them to get up and running before taking them off the deep end of the pool. I think it would be great if we had weekly or so online training course to help newbies learn the program from simple data entry to the complex componets in scheduling and other ideas. I have been fooling around with JMRI for 10 years or so and still am learning new things all the time. I for one would welcome beginer and advanced seminars on JMRI at conventions and train shows. Here in Nebraska we are scattered all over the place and far apart we learn online but sometimes we just have to go hands on in person.

By stalling I mean it freezes. I put the mouse on a switch to turn it and nothing happens. I try to bring the main menu up to shut down and nothing happen. I have to shut the computer down wait 10 or so seconds, restart the computer and the restart the Panel Pro. At this time it will now work again for a couple hours. It¡¯s frustrating during an op session. This never happens on my computer on my layout. The programming is the same on both.

Other possible is do not try the update while there is a running copy of JMRI or you will get this message.
A? anti-virus app has a "quarantine" where downloaded, un-trusted apps, are placed.? Find it and tell the Anti-virus you trust the app in question.? OR wait for the next update of you Anti-Virus app.

I am a new user. The train instruction below should have train 10 move from block 1 to block 3 and reverse to block one correct? Because it just continued around my test loop.? What am I missing. ? ? Sent from for Windows 10 ?

Yes, that train ID is SP.? The data in the sample lineup was taken from a train manifest from my layout.? If anyone is interested I've posted images of the CTC panels for both the layout I'm referring to in the feature request as well as my layout.? Here's the link:

All my years of listenng to the scanner as trains left Taylor Yard, the crew would report to the DS train length, MTs, and Loads (as well as lead unit and HPPT). I get it, the more info the better, but here we try to reproduce how the big boys did it anyhow (for those that want to play that way at least).?
On the layout here (SP), crew paperwork informs them to notify DS if they have any work enroute. The DS needs to ask and hold trains until he gets the info he needs... ? ?:)

We have been doing this now for over 5 years now I know what the owners want. I go for different every time but I always get permission first. We have so few operators (in a 200 mile area) that it is imperative we keep it new or find a new hobby like counting sunflowers.

Thanks Phil, but the DS is in a different room from where the manifests are generated and sometimes the DS is in a different state.? Bottom line is to give the layout a more prototype feel by generating prototype paperwork.? If it makes it easier for the visiting operators so much the better.

Dennis, if you are only looking for the originally planned train consists and time of departures, I think that would indeed be available from the Switchlist generated by JMRI.?
I use the Excel add-ons to format my Manifests and Switchlists and I suspect it would be straight forward (for someone with the right skills) to pare down the Switchlist to merely a listing of trains showing departure time, locos assigned (if done in JMRI Operations), number of cars and tonnage of train.? Even possibly on one line per train.? Currently, I generate a Switchlist for the Yard Crews that list each train arriving or departing from their Yard with all cars listed.? All lists would only be able to show the expected consists and any errors picking up or dropping off would not be accounted for (for example, inadvertently dragging an extra car along or forgetting to drop one off which would increase the train length).
Interesting idea for Dispatch. I had thought about giving my Dispatcher a copy of each manifest since that does include all info, but it would be pages and pages of reference material, mostly unnecessary.?

It looks like it is a decoder issue actually.? I've been working with a new loco and decoder (DCX76) and am still fiddling, but maybe the SPROG is overloading or something.? ?Can't see anything wrong with the wiring, but have run a couple of other locos ok.? But if I restart JMRI it talks to the SPROG again until I try to programme something than the comms LED stops flashing and I can no longer get the Status to change.
But my JMRI version is 4.18+R36ad3do

Hi Jack,
The firewall isn't the problem, but your antivirus is. Depending on how that works, you must add an exception for JMRI (whitelist it). These days most antivirus programs regard anything that they have no knowledge of as hostile and dangerous. So you need to either wait until the virus definitions have been updated by your antivirus provider and hope that they then include this version of JMRI, or find the way your AV can be overruled.
This will happen again, with each new release in which LaunchJMRI changes.
