Hello Group, I think this is my first post here. My name is Dennis and my station call is AI6R. First off I love my Icom 7000 and I use it weekly, but just recently it started miss behaving when using the FM or AM modes. It works OK using SSB. I, at first thought, it might be the MIC or MIC cable, but since it works well in the SSB mode it would seem that the MIC and MIC cable are OK. I've been through the manual several times looking for some setting that I might have set or changed. Nothing stood out as a proplem with any particular setting, but ... Any advice on my particular problem would be much appreciated. I miss my evening nets on 2m's. Thanks for any suggestions, Dennis ... AI6R

I own a IC 7000. The + 13.8 volt line touched the IC7000 ground. How much damage can this do ? I assume this has happened to others . The radio draws a lot of current and will not turn on ! Thanks for any info. (guesses) James

Anyone had this issue. Powered by a LiPo battery and using a 1/4 vertical with a wolf river coil with an swr less than 1.5. When transmitting CW at 100 W, the unit will shut down. If I turn down the power to 25 W this won't happen. Doesnt happen on 20m. Any ideas?

Hello folks. Looking to the braintrust for some input. My 7000 shuts down when I key the mic. Its installed in my pickup under backseat. 10M is roof center 2/3s to the rear of truck roof. 2M antenna is on lip mount on right side of hood close to front. I know its not a low voltage issue. I have it hooked directly to a fully charged LiFePO4 100ah battery (13.4v fully charged). Voltage drop when keyed is less than a tenth of a volt. The radio is grounded with a 12" 12awg wire directly to mounting bolt of seat belt (so excellent ground). I thought an RFI issue, but even when RF Power is turned totally down(</=5w, it still shuts off. What am I missing??? Any help would be great appreciated. Mike

I want to operate WSJTx with my 7000. I've connected the radio to my laptop, via a rigblaster advantage and am using Ham Radio Deluxe for rig. control. FT8 is decoding fine. Just wondered if there are any settings on the actual radio that I need to configure, to ensure a good receive and transmit signal. Info on this is sparse on the Internet Apologies if this topic has already been covered.

I have numerous frequencies in all five memory banks. Using the PBT/M-ch knobs (with PBT disengaged-green light out) I can select channels turning the outer knob but I can no longer select banks with the inner knob which worked previously. I have read through the manual on this subject. I can go into the menu with the frequency/bank list and change banks that way. I am wondering if I have inadvertently changed a setting somewhere that is causing this problem with not being able to use the knob to select banks. Thanks for any info, Michael Gardner K1MLG

I am interested in trying to control the 9600/1200 bps setting for the data connection to the IC-7000. Thus far I have tried and failed using the "send Command" option in FLRIG. Has anyone succeeded in doing this? According to the manual command reference this is done with command 0A so, I have tried the commands: xFE xFE x70 xE0 x0A x00 FD (for 1200 bps) and, xFE xFE x70 xE0 x0A x01 FD (for 9600 bps) . These are claimed to turn on / off the 9600 bps connection. Are there other approaches I should consider? 73, John, NX2I

I just bought these items and when I plug the adapter in to the back of the rig, the mike is already hot and the headset doesn't work. I have a foot switch attached. Any help would be appreciated. Ed KE6SU

Has anyone made a selector switch to switch from a PSIC headset to the Icom mike?

ON VHF irrespective of power output The radio draws 12A of current on tx It txs fine audio out fine but obv heats up fast Any ideas i checked adj mode its all set ok

Sometimes after I send CW, the transmitter will go into transmit (tx light on) and stay on even though I have quit sending. If i push the power button it will stop transmitting, I am not turning it off, it just stops transmitting. Any one had this issue? Mike KE0QKF

The display has become erratic on my 7000. Powers on and operates properly. But after being on 30 minutes or so the display will blank although the radio continues to operate properly. (Installed mobile with separation cable) Often I can lightly tap or move the head about and display comes back so I suspect an internal connection is becoming faulty. Tapping or moving the remote cable around has no effect. I plan to remove the head this afternoon and take a closer look. Are there any particular pitfalls or precautions I need to take when looking into this? Thanks. Wayne Bowyer n4eyz
