Testing the driver board with a multimeter!
开云体育Not really. The best way is to put the radio into the alignment mode and see if you can adjust the driver idle current. You should be able to set it to 1 amp. It’s adjustment range is from zero to several amps. You could also monitor the gate voltage as you adjust the idle setting. It usually runs from less than 1 volt to well over 5 volts. In my opinion, 6.82 volts is too high. It makes me think the FET is open. ? If the board is removed about the only thing you can do is check for shorts. I spoke incorrectly before. The 1 ohm resistor raises the source slightly above ground to introduce a bit of negative feedback in an attempt to stabilize the circuit. It didn’t work but it was a nice try. There is something inherently unstable about the driver. The transistor oscillates and catches fire just sitting there receiving. ? It’s not an easy task to remove the driver board. Be extremely careful pulling the flex cables. Incorrectly inserting them can turn the radio into a paperweight. ? Thank You ? Paul W. 开云体育If you can set idle current correctly, the probability the FET is good is very high. What about the little pre-drivers? There are plenty of other reasons the radio won’t transmit. ? Thank You ? 开云体育In my opinion you do not have a salvageable radio. I see corrosion all over the place and that’s probably why it won’t transmit. I wouldn’t invest much time trying to repair this radio, sorry for the bad news. ? Thank You ? Paul W.
