Re: No TX audio on JS8CALL

Chris,

Two issues to be aware of when using the 13-pin DIN ACC input:
  1. The audio input on pin 11 is much more sensitive (100 mv.) than the DATA connector.? Even with good ferrite chokes on the cable, it is susceptible to picking up RFI, which distorts the audio, especially when used in portable operation with less than ideal antennas and station grounding.? The solution is to put a 68K resistor in series with pin 11 inside the DIN connector shell.? This increases the audio input level closer to 2 volts, which decreases the effects of any RFI and also makes level adjustment less touchy with most sources.? This is especially important for SCS Pactor units.
  2. When using the ACC port, its audio input on pin 11 goes to the same input bus as the external mic connectors on the front and rear panels.? If a mic is plugged into either port any noise in the room picked up by the mic will be mixed with the data audio, causing data errors at the receiving station.? The only solution is to always unplug the mic's when using a digital mode via ACC.? The DATA port does not have this problem.

Re: No TX audio on JS8CALL

Hey Chris,

I am using the 13-pin cable... with the West Mountain P&P.... you will be fine. Your time has value - the pre-tested cables are generally well worth the cost.

On the rare occasion that I found that I was unable to get TX, it was always associated with one of two things - either I was not on USB (some other mode), or I had the wrong audio sink selected (I use Win11/10, Linux, and macOS). I generate CW from the normal key line / rig jack on the rear apron.

It is probably something like the TX audio pin is not engaging the socket then. The cable works fine on my FT-817, but no joy on the FT-7000. That is why this problem was very frustrating to figure out.
I just broke down and ordered another digirig and DIN 13 cable. I like to have all of the radios "fixins'" with it in a go kit. That get's expensive, but there is nothing worse than grabbing a box or a bag thinking you have everything you need only to find out you don't out in the field. That is why if I am taking a road trip and operating from the car I take a couple of different systems. If I forget something, or if some part of the chain breaks, I have another setup to fall to. At least that is my excuse :D

Chris I just connected my Digirig to my IC-7000 via the 6 Pin DIN plug and it keyed up the radio just fine while using VARA HF. I monitored the audio on my HT and the audio was transmitted as well.

I do not have the CAT cable for the IC-7000 so I had to specify the com port in the optional transmitting section of the VARA setup. In my case it was COM10.

The 6 PIN DIN plugs are typically wired the same way on every radio, but HF only radios typically don't have the 9600 pin wired, or they use that pin for something else. Radios with 2 meters & 70 cm including all modes would or should have the 9600 pin wired for 9600.

Sorry I could not help any more, but hopefully you get it going.

You're welcome Chris. Ironically I had the opposite issue with a Signalink USB and the 13 PIN DIN plug. I had to go with the 6 PIN DIN plug. While I have both the IC-7000 and a DIgirig with both 1200 and 9600 baud cables, I'll see if I can figure out what went wrong.

Hi Chris,

I have a older v1.5 DigiRig but the pinout at the radio end should be identical with anything.

Hi Don,

I have a RIGblaster PnP that I use with the 7K.

In my case, I chose to use a separate USB cable for the CI-V, and then used the 13-pin cable adapter (from the RIGblaster) for the auxiliary port on the 7K.? There is also a cable you will need if you intend to use CW.? The cables are inexpensive.

Cables for RIGblasters -
Hook Up Diagrams for RIGblasters - IC7K -

My extra cable - for Linux / macOS
?(CI-V cable)

RT Systems Programming Software / Cable (I use this all the time, alternative to the Valley Enterprises cable (I use that cable on a 706Mk2g):

In my case, the need for two cables was because I use not only Windows (10/11), but?also Linux and macOS (and there was not a port-splitter software like the Windows driver from West Mountain).

I love the IC7K and RIGblaster - all digital modes and CW.

Good evening all
I have scoured the forum but cannot find a definitive solution to my problem.... forgive me if this has already been covered and I missed it.

I have a 7k and want to interface it with a Rigblaster Advantage, to be controlled by HRD, but I am stumped in regards to what cable to use, from the 7k, to the Rigblaster Advantage.

I have seen a mono to stereo cable as well as a 6 pin Din plug being mentioned on the Internet but the dew posts I have read are somewhat cryptic.

Both the 7k and the Rigbladter Advsntage are recent addition to my shack and any help getting them interfaced with each other will be greatly appreciated.

My main rig is the 7300 so this a new realm for me.

Re: IC-7000 Hsend Vsend not going to ground

开云体育

John N0JA,

????????????? H Send is on pin 3, V Send is on pin 7. 14 volts is on pin 8. The Send line is switched by a relay between H Send and V send. However, Send is switched to ground by a single 2SD1623 NPN transistor. It’s rated to sink 2 amps but I doubt that the entire circuit will do much more than 1 amp for very long.

Don’t forget ground on pin 2. That often trips up people. They put the probes on the chassis but ground is open to the ACCY connector. All of the lines are protected by surface mounted chokes that kind of act like fuses. Sometimes they actually work, sometimes not so much. If you shorted pin 8 to pin 3, it really shouldn’t have done anything unless you switched into transmit. Then there might be a problem with those circuits.

When you say you measure -4 volts, where do you have the ground probe connected? That’s an odd number and I’m thinking ground is missing. Most of the components are on the exposed side of the DDS unit so you shouldn’t have too much trouble tracking them down.
