ratflector
HI, I've trying to create a ratflector on a pi. I used the document written? by N7BU that is on files on this group.?
I even got the ping to my gateway. I opened drats and created a localhost:9000 as per intructions to monitor the ratflector. BUt on how to setup the ratflector on the internet, it only says that I have? to check "allow all incoming network connection"? and hit the "on" button .? Then when I run the Drats program on the pi, I see a terminal windows that pops up with some info. But When I do the same with Dratflector and hit "on" the other terminal windows that pops up shows no info at all. What makes me think that the ratflector program is not working. I also jumped to another computer to see If I was able to get to my ratflector so I went to radios and created it whit the ip address that I get from whatismyip.com with port 9000.? So far no lucky running the ratflector on the internet, please if anyone has some other instructions on how to set it up I ll rally appreciate it. Respectfully? Jose David NP3JD |

开云体育Well I have not done that last step of renaming it so I' m using to test the ip address that I get from whatismyip.com on the rpi 66.50.50.18
I also used the Port Forward Network Utilities software but I did not list my router. So I did configuration on the router manually under Virtual Services.?
The static IP address (192.168.8.101)
Wan port 9000-9500
Lan port 9000-9500
Tcp/udp
And I still scratching the back of my head jaajaj

What have you called your Ratflector please? I'll set up a NET address and see if I can get a response from it. Cheers - Dave (G0DJA) |

开云体育Hi David on the ratflector do I gave to add something to path or I just leave everyting in blank??
I think the router is the problem. Even though I downloaded the port forward utilities they do not have the exact model. So I ve tried with some other that look similar on the list as per their instructions on the web.?
I even found some instructions on how to do it manually. But it does not seem to work neither.?
I m waitting for them to find a solution to this challenge. As a matter of fact, their app has some open port verification tool. And even with their program it does not seem to work.?
It looks like the port forward app sends a ping to their site if it comes back then I guess that means is working.
?So far no luck!?

AAR after many attemps I could not make the ratflector work. I even tried on a normal pc. The program that I bought? did not work for the forward port? task. I? tried it on 2 different routers, and nothing.?
The only way I got??a repeater drats works was if they were on the same router. One as a repeater and the other as a client.?
I think I m gonna pass on this task I've been 3 days in a row and no succes at all.?
my only hope is to wait until the developers of the port forward program tell me something on how to fix their lack of routers on the list.??
and or do the next step to make a subdomain and mmaayyybe it could work. ajjajaaajja

HI John thanks for the info. The best I can tell is that the software for port forwarding runs on the pc. I guess that this software once get inside the router, runs some sort of script that is supposed to create the port forwarding inside the router.? The
router that I 'm using is a Huawei b 315s.? It recieves the signal form the internet service company directly, so I do not have a third item between laptop and router. It is some sort of all in one thing, with wifi, lan ports etc.
I have done it manually like on this (see Below) video except for the DNS part that he recommends to open an account on NO-IP to make this specific router to work on port forwarding. And I think that is where I'm stocked on the configuration. The article that
I found under files on drats group.io compiled by Roger, N7BU, mention something about subdomain on page 13 under step 6.4a-c " How to get the pi ratflector on the internet"? ?Honestly I have no idea how to make it happen.? ???

?Today I 'll be taking down some antennas because there is a storm approching to the island hopefully it does
not become a Hurricane. Actually is for that kind of reason that I want to run this ratflector, for emcomm porpouses.?
John sorry if I ask you a little favor please the video
supra?that I posted to see if those set up would do the trick. For thats is exactly what I'm doing manually. (except for the DNS part That I hope it is the missing link.)?

HI John thanks for the info. The best I can tell is that the softwareAll IPV4 addresses are now assigned. Because of that, many ISPs are now using private non-routable IP addresses to their customers. The is the case for Smart Phones that I have, the phone company only issues non-routable IP addresses to the phones. Any the manual for the Huawei b 315 shows that it does not have a WAN port, only a SIM card. Which means you are using Cell Phone Internet. You need to look up the IP address that the WAN port on Huawei b 315s is currently set to. If it does not match the whatismyip.com report, then running a public ratflector is a lost cause. It is very likely that your configuration is: public Internet IP -- ISP NAT private IP -- Your router -- Your network with private IP addresses. As far as software on a PC configuring a router for port forwarding, the only way that works if the router has a remote configuration option that matches the PC software. None of the commercial Nat routers that I have used have had such a documented API. So I would be very suspicious of any downloadable software that claims it can do that. Also it is recommended that UPNP (Universal Plug and Play) be disabled. My current ISP supplied the WIFI-NAT-Router, but I do have the admin password for it. I have username and password for it that can set a limited number of settings. 73, -John |

开云体育Hello John, All IPV4 addresses are now assigned. Any thoughts on how much work it would be to make D-Rats be IPv6 compatible?? IPv6 is clearly the future of the Internet, most ISPs support it now, and the ridiculous number of IPs you get from your ISP are all publicly reachable. If it does not match the whatismyip.com report, then running a public ratflector is a lost cause. This is not entirely true as a user has at least two more options: ? - The ISP's operated NAT is usually a form of Carrier Grade NAT (CG-NAT) which should be able to support port forwarding via Port Control Protocol (PCP) - .? The enduser will need to contact their ISP to see if they support PCP for their endusers ? - The end user can setup a VPN with a provider that supports port forwarding or supports static IPs for their tunnels.? I've heard good success with vendors like vultr, etc.? The VPNs aren't too expensive to operate. Also it is recommended that UPNP (Universal Plug and Play) be disabled. I also generally recommend disabling UPnP as most of the router implementations of that stack are known to have many various security vulnerabilities (Google it.. it's really bad).? Unfortunately, some of the CG-NAT solutions out there support the configuration of PCP via the enduser's UPnP stack.? Again.. the user will need to contact their ISP to understand how it's done for their specific network. --David KI6ZHD |
