If that address not 72.50.16.221, that means that you have two levels of
NAT translation going on, and that is the reason it is not working for you.

Earlier you posted that you can not reach the ratflector on a different
system on your network.
You need to check your PC firewall program to make sure that port 9000
is not blocking it.
You would need to use the current LAN IP 192.168.8.50 of the system
running the ratflector to work from another system on your own network.
That issue has nothing to do with your router configuration.? There is
no point in trying to get NO-IP to work until the above works.
Once you get it working with your LAN IP address of the ratflector, then
you can try testing with your public IP address.
Next you need to find out is what your NAT Router thinks the external IP

None of the commercial Nat routers that I have used have had such a documented API. So I would be very suspicious of any downloadable software that claims it can do that. Also it is recommended that UPNP (Universal Plug and Play) be disabled. My current ISP supplied the WIFI-NAT-Router, but I do have the admin password for it. HI Glenn et Als. I jumped this morning to NOIP. It seems that the account was created succesfully. I m not using the rpi right now run some test, just in case I ve done something wrong on the static ip address on the pi.?

I downloaded the PC version of NOIP DCU on the laptop and it was really easy. I also created a hostname np3jd.ddns.net
SO far?
1. laptop is running on static ip
2. router has been set up a per the video that I previously shared on this topic : Tha includes
(a).creating a port forward with the static ip addres of the pc? under virtual server and
(b)adding the NOIP account under DDNS on the router with NOIP NP3JD user name; ddns.net server
3. I installed the DCU software on the laptop and is on and running.
4. The noip account shows that the hostname is: (a) active, (b)with the pc ip address (c)Type A hostname
BUT jajaja the Router shows under DDNS that there is an acces error. I guess I ll have to wait 24 hours or something to see if the host name is active

I ve been trying to get to my "ratflector" from another computer as quick as I turn on the ratflector.?
I create on the client a network connection under radios using the ip address from the server that I find on whatismyip. just to test the connection before it gets assigned another IP .but even though I can not connect to the repeater at least
to see if it is working.?
It is indeed frustrating. I even tried using two laptops to see if the rpi is the problem but same result.?
To sum up Conditions are: 2 laptops one as client and one as server.
The server has an static ip.?
This static ip is also on the router with port 9000.?
Then I turn on the ratflector. With drats as localhost:9000 to see activity. On the server laptop

Then I jump to the other laptop which is a client to see if I get connected to server. I go to radio and I create a network with the server ip address I.E
12.34.567.890. When I click on save my belief is that it should go to the server but it never connects. I get an error 10060 .?
So should I get connected to the server from the client without the NOIP as soon as I turn on the repeater????

I have been using NOIP.com for that purpose.? Since most home Internet routers get a Dynamic IP address from the provider, your home’s IP address is subject to change over time.? Once you have an account set up with NOIP.com, they will
give you a URL and you then download a program called DUC that periodically checks to see what your IP address is and reports it back to NOIP so they can adjust their record for your ratflector on the fly to make sure the URL always has the right path to get
traffic to your location.

I have been using them for several years.? I had made arrangements for dstarinfo.com to have it listed there.? From dstarinfo.com they set me up as
, but I can also be reached as which is the address issued by NOIP.? Having this set up was one of the most frustrating things for me, because if I simply told people what my IP address was, the next time something happened, like a power outage or glitch that caused
the equipment to reboot, the IP address would change to something else and no one could get in.? Also remember that your address issued by your Internet Provider and the address issued by your router to the devices in your home are two different things.? Isn’t
technology wonderful?!?

Getting the port range forwarding correct is another essential issue.? It requires you to set the ratflector up with a static IP address off your router, otherwise the same issue can occur.? The router is issuing local IP addresses
on a first come first serve basis.? A reboot could cause every device in your home to get reassigned a different IP from the router.? Since port forwarding has to be given a target device to send the traffic to when something comes in on port 9000, the address
of the ratflecter must be stable or else you will constantly have to go in and reassign the port forwarding information to point to the current one for the ratflector.

The ratflector also needs the added dependency software listed in the white paper added to the pi so the program will work.?? I’ve been running my ratflector on a Raspberry Pi 3-B for several years now, so I know it can be done.

Re: GMail SMTP no longer works, where to go?
D-Rats can send/ receive POP/SMTP mail using an Outlook or other account just like any mail client. It is advisable to have an exclusive address (free) for just D-Rats. Reason is if you are trying to do some of the more advanced mail stuff in D-Rats (like forwarding internet email through a relay or mail server) you will not receive your messages if you are using that account on something like a phone that polls for email all the time. POP/SMTP, for those of us who have been around awhile, pulls the mail off the server. It's gone. If you check it with D-Rats, it won't be there. Yeah, there are some tweaks you can make to avoid this but for practical purposes, make an account just for D-Rats. Then you can open D-Rats and use that just like an old email client similar to a 25 year old client.?

HI John thanks for the info. The best I can tell is that the software for port forwarding runs on the pc. I guess that this software once get inside the router, runs some sort of script that is supposed to create the port forwarding inside the router.? The
router that I 'm using is a Huawei b 315s.? It recieves the signal form the internet service company directly, so I do not have a third item between laptop and router. It is some sort of all in one thing, with wifi, lan ports etc.
I have done it manually like on this (see Below) video except for the DNS part that he recommends to open an account on NO-IP to make this specific router to work on port forwarding. And I think that is where I'm stocked on the configuration. The article that
I found under files on drats group.io compiled by Roger, N7BU, mention something about subdomain on page 13 under step 6.4a-c " How to get the pi ratflector on the internet"? ?Honestly I have no idea how to make it happen.? ???

Software"? Such software would have to be run on the NAT Router.
My current ISP only provides a NAT router for access, so for me to make
a public Ratflector, I have to first setup port forwarding to my own NAT
Router, and then setup forwarding my own NAT router to the ratflector, a
double forwarding.
The only cases where you can add custom network utilities to a NAT
Router that I am familiar with is home made NAT Routers, usually running
some type of Linux.? I do see some vendors selling routers with open
source Nat software on them, but that is not the mass market.
So in order for someone to help you, they need to know what models of
NAT Routers you are using and the software installed on them.
And how you have assigned the addresses on your internal network.
Default is DHCP for a range, Advanced users use static IP or DHCP
addresses locked to a MAC address.

AAR after many attemps I could not make the ratflector work. I even tried on a normal pc. The program that I bought? did not work for the forward port? task. I? tried it on 2 different routers, and nothing.?
The only way I got??a repeater drats works was if they were on the same router. One as a repeater and the other as a client.?
I think I m gonna pass on this task I've been 3 days in a row and no succes at all.?
my only hope is to wait until the developers of the port forward program tell me something on how to fix their lack of routers on the list.??
and or do the next step to make a subdomain and mmaayyybe it could work. ajjajaaajja
