Regarding detent balls and springs— Your local bicycle shop can sell you a 3/16" ball for a few pennies. This is the size used in front wheel hubs, usually 10 per side. Though nice bikes went away

I never found a meaningful difference between the MF and MFB. The MF and MFB had a cutter guard where the MFC removed the cutter guard and came with a different overarm support casting and bar —
