On mine, I loosened the "bracket mounting bolts" and moved the drive spindle up to loosen the spindle belts.? Bolt heads were 9/16 and the nuts (under the pulley) were 11/16". Not room for a socket

As far as I know thats the deal , but I did read something over on the Practical Machinist Forum before I bought mine where a guy mentioned that they can be taken apart & to change the shank .?
