Re: Yaesu Ft-60 ???
The radio is either a FT-60R or FT-60E - take the battery off and look at the label. It is likely the US "R" version.

Re: Yaesu Ft-60 ???
I have found a good mic, it is Pryme brand, and I think it is the "light weight" one ...

LORNA,
There is no cost and very little effort to join this group. You can set the options for what you get--I use the daily "digest" which gives a brief intro to the messages posted within the

Re: Yaesu Ft-60 ???
I have the Yaesu earbud mic - great one to consider when you are in
noisy public service situations etc where its hard to hear the radio.
Has a little PTT switch..

Re: Yaesu Ft-60 ???
If I remember correctly, one mic will work across many of the yaesu handhelds so I don't think it will matter.

Re: Yaesu Ft-60 ???
Lorna,
The model names FT-60 and FT-60R are used interchangeably. The FT-60E is
the European version.
Most accessories, including the speaker/mics, work on all models.

The difference is on is for the United States and the other is for Europe.
So if the speaker Mic works for one it will work for the other

Yaesu Ft-60 ???
I'm really not interested in joining the group, but I do have one question
that no one in my local radio club can answer for me and I'm not finding an
answer online.
I purchased a Yaesu FT-60 a year

Re: Charging the FT-60 with the desktop cradle
Maybe there is an 'extra charge' if this helps the battery last longer!

Re: Charging the FT-60 with the desktop cradle
It works perfectly, providing about 750 discharge/charge cycles for us. Even my Motorola drop-in chargers need to be inserted properly to charge ... It is a great value of a radio, and with this

Re: Charging the FT-60 with the desktop cradle
My charger has worked without a hitch, but it is not exactly a "drop-in"
cradle like I'm used to. The battery/radio must be lined up on the
tracks in the charger for all the contacts to mate, and

Re: Charging the FT-60 with the desktop cradle
The charging cradle is not very good. It will show
charging for a brief time when it is in fact not seated
well. Just have to figgle with it until it gets in the
cradle well, and then doublecheck

Re: VX-3R versus FT-60R
My tray is tight but does close, and using Eneloops too. Hard to advise you what to do. If you can see where removing a little plastic would help, you may try that.

Re: VX-3R versus FT-60R
I have a hard time with the size of the NiMH AA batteries - they
worked on my older FT60 and not the newer. There is a small difference
in size.
I liked the old design where with a simple

Re: Charging the FT-60 with the desktop cradle
I have had that issue in a couple of cases. 1. Did not get the radio in the slots properly lined up (its a tight fit). 2. Went through the motions of charging, but got no charge - unplugged the
