My charger has worked without a hitch, but it is not exactly?a "drop-in" cradle like?I'm used to. The battery/radio?must be lined up on the tracks?in the charger for all?the contacts to mate, and there no?"slop" in the setup. Once everything is seated,?it isn't going to come apart unless you want it to.
I've put the radio or just a?battery in the charger. It takes a discharged?battery to full charge in ?about?the four hours quoted in the manual.

The charging cradle is not very good. It will show
charging for a brief time when it is in fact not seated
well. Just have to figgle with it until it gets in the
cradle well, and then doublecheck it a few minutes later.
