ft-50r power button 2
I have acquired a Yaesu ft-50r. It will not power on. If I pull the main board out and attach a power source I move a piece of metal across the wires on the motherboard and start the radio. Then moving the wire across the switch will not turn the radio off.If I quickly reassemble the radio and attach the battery, the radio will still be on. I can transmit, it receives. I can alter the squelch level ( I broke the speaker leads when I pulled the boar, so I can't hear the radio at the moment). If I then push the power switch, the radio will turn off, but I cannot turn it back on. I have seen this problem addressed in some very old posts using a circuit writer pen to coat the bottom of the switch. I am not sure if the entire bottom gets coated or only a portion. Has anyone heard of this problem with the 50r and if so, how it was fixed? Thanks -- Rick, KK4GGL

FT-1000 no TX between 7.5 & 14.5 mhz 3
Hi I received this TRX a few days ago and during the first tests I realized that it doesn't work in TX in the spectrum section as mentioned in the object. They practically remain uncovered the 30 and 20 meter bands, on the others bands apparently OK. For example, up to 14500 khz it does not transmit, from 14501 it transmits. Have you had any experience with this issue? Thank you

FT-80r Questions - its a 50r

FT-80r Questions 7
I have acquired an FT-80r. The battery (FNB-41xh Ni_MH)is dead (measured with a multi-meter). The charger that came with it is an NC-60B (for Ni-CD). The charger tested as putting out the specified voltage/amperage. I have DLed the manual. the NC-60B is mentioned, as are Ni-CD batteries. Ni-MH aren't mentioned anywhere. Anyone know if I should be able to power up the radio with the charger plugged in, but no battery. Is it OK to charge Ni-MH batteries with the NC-60B Ni-CD charger? Any ideas on how I might power up the radio without a battery? Any and all help appreciated.

FT-710 001 ERROR 3
I bought the product 1 month ago, I installed a software update on the device and when I turned it back on, the device said that I had to reinstall it, I reinstalled it, but it keeps me in the same loop as if it had never been installed, it gives an error 001 as soon as I open it, I update it every time, but again as if nothing happened. opens TA5AAX GSM ; +90 552 524 69 31

Yaesu DMU-2000 help
I recently picked up a DMU-2000 to go along with my FT-2000D. When I connected it, I found that the 2023 CMOS battery was completely dead which cleared any BIOS settings in the DMU. I replaced the 2023, was able to get the time to stay correct, but the DMU still will not boot. It displays the two horizontal bars from the OS boot process, but instead of the main DMU screen appearing, it instead turns itself back off. I believe that possibly one of the BIOS settings needs to be changed so that the boot process will complete, but can't figure out which. The ham that sold it to me claims that it was in fact working when he sold it to me, but I'm not getting very far with that. thanks in advance Dave, N2EPV

Mods to a FT-4700H to allow it to expand the bands.
I am trying to help another ham friend out. He has a FT-4700H that won't cover all the US frequencies. There is a post in the cloud for doing the modification, but it is unclear as to what you actually need to solder. It says locate jumper 1,2,5,9,10,13 and short them with solder on the control unit. Well there are no jumpers that are available to bridge. The only thing I found was a IC that has 14 pins (Q5) on the board that you could short the pins too. I have a bad feeling about this and wonder if anyone has addressed this on one of these boards? They don't give enough detail about where this is on the board. Waiting for more input on this subject. APRS Beacon Text 2
On the FTM500 when I'm in menu 84 setting the Beacon Status Tex and i select Text 1 and then "Freq & SQL & Shift" i am then presented a text input form that has 7 spaces, a colon, and more text input area. I have no idea what goes here and what the formatting is for. I have searched high and low for this on the internet and in the manual and I just can't find an explanation of those strange spaces and the colon and additional spaces. Can someone advise? 73 de Dan

Wide-banding the FTdx-10 & 7300
See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyC1hhbfyVg. Jumper JP6 gets shorted out & the radio reset to transmit/receive 25?-75 MHz. As it comes from the factory they will only xmt in ham bands. There is interest in using 40.68 for tnx & receive using FT8. A wire or tool across JP6 avoids the soldering. 73 de Jack W2INF

My Dell is W10. I called their tech support so I will wait for a return call.. If anyone has gone through this, please let me know. Attached are the USB driver files I downloaded as a screenshot. 73 de Jack W2INF
