I had a similar problem with the 710 that I got used.? It had a very early version of firmware (like 1.01 for everything).? The fix for your issue is to completely turn the radio off after the update has completed installing.? I got two messages that said something like 'select update file' and had to load the update two or three times.? I powered it off after each update had installed and now it's working great.? for what its worth,i have a yaesu ft-707 but i have always regarded yaesu being like chinese radios without the qc!,not a fan,seems they are built too much to a price point!.
