Quick off the cuff based on my recollections…

?

Warriors can throw missiles and charge (unless Roman who need the Pila thing using a signa card or activation) – defenders can only do so if Roman using the special pila rules and a signa card.

?

And from memory, there’s a specific ruling about following up if the close combat opponent break, don’t have the rule set hand.

?

I've just played by third game and my appreciation of the rules is growing as I get a better grasp on them and the tactical possibilities. Rashly I'm trying to learn a different new ruleset in another period at about the same time [or a different time in the same period of my life] or i might have got more games in.

One query, and apologies if I've missed something in the rules or videos. When one lot of warriors charge another can they throw missiles on the way in and can the otherside throw missiles in defence [provided they still have some] or do we presume [as in many other rules] that that's all part and parcel of the melee?

Okay, a second query. If Roman infantry run away [double shock or worse] from a melee with mounted Celts do the cavalry pursue? Perhaps it's up to them to decide on their next activation.

Thanks

Stephen

Re: Canadian VC 6mm Normandy IABSM AAR

Excellent! I ran this as a double blind game at Hotlead a few years ago, but it didn't look that good. Nicely done.

Re: North shoulder of Kursk IABSM game

Agreed - but I think WaT is meant to be a short game better suited for demos and short nights. Bit like a wargamers "Whack a Mole"! I find IABSN easier to play with as a solo player, although someone shared recently a combined IABSM with CoC dicing. Tried that and it was fun.

Interesting. ?Not thought of using IASBM as a tank battle set of rules as I have always thought of them as primarily infantry rules so would have used other rules. ?What appeals about using them for tank battles?

Re: North shoulder of Kursk IABSM game

Here is what I find appealing about IABSM tank rules.
-simplicity
-First, you roll the "To Hit"" table..................although with a larger table, I'd like to see about adding in something beyond the 0-18 inches, 18+ inches..........maybe a 36 inches and over column (to better capture guns that were very good at longer ranges such as German 88mm or US 3-inch or British 17 pounder
-works fast.? Gun Value vs Armor value...........easy to roll lots of dice at once and then just look for 5's and 6's

The only thing I'd like to change is the frequency of "engine damage" results...? You're track is either knocked off or it isn't

North shoulder of Kursk IABSM game

The latest remote texting game was a bit of a disappointment.? I was in the mood for a tank bash and I try to do a Kursk game every July-pushed back a month due to C19 and I just got around to editing the pics.? It was based on the lopsided engagement in the area between Step' and Hill 227.9 on the morning of July 6, 1943 involving the 107th Tank Brigade and the StugIIIs of Stug. Abt 245 and off table Tigers of s.Pz. Abt 505.
I was afraid that it might be a bit of a blowout with the Russkies just providing moving targets.? But we had some extreme dice rolling make things just the opposite.

Thank you Curt,

Now, that one certainly should have alerted my interest, as I read the complete Official History of the US Navy in the Pacific in WWII as an eighteen year old, thanks to the Library of Congress, via the US Embassy in London. That also makes more sense, in the context of TFL, but it hadn't occurred to me.
