Duties and Responsibilities

1. Oversees and directs archaeological field crew(s) in Phase II excavation and recording of 11 sites.
2. Supervises personnel which typically includes recommendations for performance evaluation, training, work allocation, and problem resolution.
3. With the Program manager, coordinates on-site logistics and resolves problems to ensure the timely, safe, and effective completion of project objectives.
4. Ensures the application of safe work practices by crew members during survey/excavation projects.
5. Provides functional guidance and leadership to technical staff for data collection and recording in areas of specialty, such as faunal, lithic, and/or ceramic analysis.
6. Assists on the ground with project planning activities, to include identifying appropriate equipment, resources and personnel needed.
7. Potentially writes or co-authors archaeological excavation, and analysis reports.
8. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties in the field as assigned.

• Education – Masters Degree in Archaeology or equivalent discipline.

Project Description and Schedule

UES has an immediate project need for an experienced archaeological monitor for ongoing construction activities at the Naval Air Station (NAS) in Pensacola, Florida. The monitoring must start on Monday 4/21/2025 and is expected to last two days. However, monitoring needs at the base are ongoing and this role has the potential to grow into permanent positions with UES- the fastest growing environmental consulting firm in the U.S.!

As part of this monitor role, the successful applicant will conduct cultural resources monitoring tasks that include coordinating with construction crews, monitoring construction progress, maintaining detailed records, and documenting discoveries of cultural resources. UES monitors use tablets for data collection and daily logs, adhere to state and local protocols for site recording, and assist in evaluations for the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). Project Description and Schedule

UES is hiring several archaeological monitors and field technicians to help conduct ongoing monitoring and survey efforts in eastern Tennessee (in the general vicinity of Greeneville). We have project-specific work opportunities that will develop into career-trajectory placement for the right person. Compensation

Minimum Requirements:

• Master’s degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or an allied field that confers SOI qualification or Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology or Anthropology and at least 5 year’s experience in Washington State
• Accredited archaeological field school or equivalent training
• Current valid driver’s license and the ability to safely operate a 4WD vehicle
• Physical ability to carry equipment and supplies (up to 30 lbs.) and walk or hike for long hours during fieldwork
• Willingness to occasionally travel to a project location for several consecutive days
• Based in Western Washington in reasonable commuting distance of Seattle
• Ability to conduct fieldwork in various environments and conditions including extreme temperatures, inclement weather, and rough terrain

Position Overview:

EDR is seeking a team-oriented Senior Archaeologist?with significant experience (10+ years) managing projects and/or as a subject matter expert/technical lead in Cultural Resources Management.? This role serves as the lead for cultural resources studies and communication of the results to EDR internal staff and clients. The Senior Archaeologist will have project management responsibilities, oversee archaeology staff and resources, and ensure deliverables meet EDR’s standard of quality.

This role would be a full-time position with some flexibility around location within the New England region of the US. This is a senior role requiring 10 years or more of relevant experience in a similar, or related professional setting.

The qualified candidate will have:

• Strong writing and verbal skills with a demonstrated ability to manage cultural resources projects, and the reporting of the results to clients.
• At least 10 years of experience directing cultural resources investigations in New York, the Northeast, and/or mid-Atlantic states.
• Subject matter expertise in North American archaeology
• Demonstrated experience managing client, agency, and indigenous nations communications, including project reviews under state and federal permitting.
• Demonstrated project management experience, including preparing proposals, scopes of work, project budgets, invoicing, and change orders.
• Demonstrated experience managing the permitting for archaeology and/or environmental projects.
• Demonstrated experience scheduling, coordinating, and directing staff for Phase I-III archaeological investigations.
• Strong research, organizational, and data analysis skills.
• Demonstrated ability to review and edit cultural resources reports, memoranda, and associated deliverables.
• An undergraduate or advanced degree in anthropology, history, or related field.
• Working knowledge of GIS and GPS technology, mapping, analysis, and data processing.

The anticipated base pay range of?$65,000-$85,000 per year is commensurate with experience. WSP is currently has opportunities for On Call Archaeology Field Technicians with 1+ years of experience for project work in Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, Utah, and Idaho for the duration of 2025 spring/summer!? Will be involved in projects with our Earth & Environment Cultural Resource Team and open opportunities to become a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their cultural resource challenges.

WSP is currently looking to fill multiple hourly, project-based positions. This On Call Archaeology Field Technician (heritage resource specialist) position will work with senior project managers, senior archaeologists, architectural historians, and other environmental staff to expand existing and new client relationships and contribute to WSP’s capacity and reputation in the environmental and engineering marketplace. Compensation will be commensurate with credentials and experience.

Successful candidates will work with environmental and heritage/cultural resources specialists throughout the West. Current and upcoming archaeological project contributions are needed in Arizona, New Mexico; Nevada, Utah and Idaho, however, the successful candidate should expect upcoming or future fieldwork opportunities in adjacent states as well.
