Job Title: Archaeological Field Technician
Position Overview
International Archaeology, LLC (IA)?is actively seeking a Field Technician to join our team. Reporting directly to the Field Supervisor and Project Director, this role involves conducting intensive archaeological survey, excavation, and monitoring of construction
or other ground-disturbing activities. The position demands strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in diverse field conditions.

Responsibilities

Recognize surface and subsurface archaeological resources.

Conduct field surveys in designated project areas to identify and record historical and prehistoric cultural resources.

Conduct unit excavation, photography, and exploratory trenching, with meticulous attention to detailed record-keeping.

Document and describe soil profiles.

Utilize a professional-grade global positioning system (GPS) receiver to record the location of cultural resources.

Prepare plan view and profile drawings according to mapping conventions.

Complete all relevant digital and/or paper field forms accurately and efficiently.

Assist with fieldwork, including laboratory analysis.

Catalog materials, including bagging and tagging sorted items and completing data entry.

Photograph artifacts in laboratory and field settings.

Create copies of and annotate digital field photos as needed for report publication.

Qualifications

Completion of an archaeology field school.

Alternatively, at least two years of field and/or laboratory experience demonstrating thorough knowledge of the fundamental principles and theories of professional archaeology.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree or higher with an emphasis in archaeology or a related field.
