The Architectural Historian Technician - Seasonal performs a wide range of project-based research tasks in architecture, historic preservation, and cultural resources management. The nature of the work involves, but is not limited to, Section 106, 36 CFR part 800 – Protection of Historic Properties, Cultural Resource Management principles, and practices.

Applicants must possess:

• A strong familiarity with the National Register of Historic Places criteria.
• A working knowledge of the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties.
• Must be able to meet the Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualification Standards for architectural history, which requires either a Master’s degree in architectural history, historic preservation, or a closely related field, with coursework in American architectural history; or a Bachelor’s degree in architectural history, art history, historic preservation, or a closely related field, with coursework in American architectural history and five years of full-time experience in research and writing concentrating on historic preservation and/or architectural history. Project Description and Schedule

UES is hiring multiple field technicians to help conduct Phase II test excavations at several precontact sites in Henry County, GA.? This testing project is expected to last five to seven days with the potential for long-term, permanent employment for the driven, collaborative, and reliable archaeologist. The ideal candidate will have experience with Phase II excavations in the Southeast- with a keen understanding of methods commonly employed during stratigraphic excavation, an understanding of the prehistoric archaeological record of Georgia or the Southeast, familiarity with digital data collection, and an appreciation for the importance of efficiency and teamwork in test excavation workflows.

The Rocky Mountain Divisional office of Cultural Resource Analysts, Inc. is seeking seasonal field technicians for multiple inventory projects primarily in Colorado, Montana, Nebraska, and Wyoming.

Fieldwork is expected to last for several weeks beginning in May. A bachelor’s degree or higher and demonstrated Class III inventory experience are desirable. All candidates must be able to hike with a field pack 8-10 miles a day over steep uneven terrain and be able to excavate periodic shovel tests. Fieldwork will frequently be conducted at elevations exceeding 5,000 ft. The ideal candidate will have experience working on renewable energy development projects and be able to work independently. They will also have experience with and be familiar with operating ESRI Fieldmaps, basic digital cameras and data collection tablets. Also these projects will be based out of small towns with limited resources, so please be prepared.

Pay will be commensurate with experience and will be competitive with the local market ranging from $19 to $25 an hour. Overtime pay will be paid at time and half over 40 hours a week. CRAI will provide single occupancy housing (when possible) and at least $55 a day per diem while in the field. These positions are temporary, but employees who excel in their work will be considered for continuing work after the field season.

Field Archaeologists (Seasonal), New York State Museum Cultural Resource Survey Program, Albany, NY

Description and Duties: the Cultural Resource Survey Program (CRSP; ) of the New York State Museum is seeking seasonal archaeology field technicians for upcoming projects throughout New York State, including survey and site examination investigations. These are temporary positions, with a term date no later than December 31, 2025.?

Duties include archaeological fieldwork for CRSP projects state-wide (perform reconnaissance survey and site examination and data recovery excavation at archaeological sites to all Cultural Resource Management professional standards; serve as field crew member or as crew chief as assigned; maintain professional field records; ensure proper use of vehicles and equipment; interact with the public). There is also a potential for laboratory work (assist with laboratory artifact processing, including cleaning, organizing, labeling, and cataloging; enter field notes and other data into electronic databases).

Travel Monday through Friday (37.5 hours weekly) is required for nearly all projects, with paid stays in single occupancy hotel rooms and Federal GSA rate per diem (at least $68 per night). Pay ranges from $17.65 to $21.86 per hour, based on education and experience.

Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in archaeology, anthropology, or related field; prior archaeological field experience (field school and/or experience working in CRM); a valid driver’s license; access to reliable transportation or the ability to carpool from the Albany, New York region. What you will accomplish
