  • Serve as primary author on large technical reports, research designs, and other technical documents.
  • Conduct content edits of technical reports and site forms.

SWCA Environmental Consultants is seeking?Cultural Resources Technicians?to support our Sheridan, Wyoming office. ?In this role, you will assist the Field Director and Project Team in completing archaeological pedestrian surveys, testing, and other field tasks. You will assist with GPS data collection using iPads and communicate with the Team through daily reporting of field activities. Your role will be to conduct archaeological fieldwork including survey, testing, and resource documentation. Tasks may include mapping, photography, and artifact and feature recording, including collection of GPS data. HRA is seeking to increase our qualified pool of Archaeological Technicians for work in our Eugene, Portland, Missoula, Seattle, and Spokane offices.   • A key element of your job will be to supervise a small crew while conducting environmental fieldwork. This includes:
    • Independently assigning and directing the activities of others on behalf of SWCA, often in remote areas without immediate guidance from senior managers, to ensure quality and on-time delivery.
    • Ensuring that employees understand their responsibilities and delegated tasks and being held accountable if crew members under your supervision are not performing their activities correctly, productively, and safely.
    • Serving as a conduit of communication between employees and senior managers, including communicating issues to relevant senior managers.
    • Receiving and resolving complaints from employees in the field.
    • Monitoring team productivity and offering timely performance guidance, including determining when correction action is needed and delivering appropriate feedback


Experience and qualifications for success

Required:

  • A bachelor’s degree in anthropology or archaeology?
  • Participation in an accredited archaeological field school or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in cultural resources management (CRM) on a variety of project types, sizes, regions, and agencies.?
  • Experience with the application of standard archaeological survey and excavation techniques.
  • Experience leading crews of field technicians.
  • Ability to travel and be able to conduct fieldwork for long hours, sometimes in inclement weather conditions, often in rugged terrain, and be able to carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Must have valid driver's license and able to meet SWCA’s driver requirements.

Your Impact

Heritage Consultants, LLC a Connecticut-based cultural resources management company, is seeking several Seasonal Field Archaeologists for upcoming projects work throughout New England, New York, and beyond. Our company has a backlog of fieldwork that will last throughout 2025. About the opportunity

SWCA Environmental Consultants is seeking a Cultural Resources Field Technician to join our West Chester, PA or Pittsburgh, PA offices and assist with cultural resources management projects. Our office is actively involved in supporting solar energy and other renewable energy developments throughout the region, ensuring compliance and preservation in line with sustainable development goals.

This is a temporary, field-based assignment typically offering at least 40 hours per week, expected to run from April 1 to June 27th, 2025. Priority consideration will be given to candidates located in or within driving distance of the West Chester, PA or Pittsburgh, PA areas.

What you will accomplish

  • Perform complete archaeological surveying and field testing.
