WestLand is seeking an experienced
Archaeology Crew Chief to help oversee archaeological survey, testing and data recovery projects throughout Utah. Our Utah crews can be found working throughout the Colorado Plateau and Great Basin regions on CRM projects for private and public sector
clients. For out-of-town work that includes overnight, or longer duration stays, per diem and single-occupancy hotel rooms are provided. This position will be based out of WestLand’s Salt Lake City office.

The salary range for this position is $25.00 - $28.50 /hour.

What will I be doing?
Supervisor archaeological field work (i.e., field survey, testing, monitoring, and data recovery excavations) independently or under the guidance of a Field Director.
Supervising field crews in the recording of artifacts, features, and sites, creating scaled profiles and plans, and maintaining quality paperwork, notes, and records either
independently or under the guidance of a Field Director.
Processing and cataloging artifacts and other materials associated with data recovery efforts to lab and repository standards and specifications, under appropriate supervision.
Performing preliminary project related tasks, including data analysis and lab tasks, under appropriate supervision.
File and scan project related records and paperwork.
Contributing to tasks related to all phases of project work, including record searches, site record production, and technical report production (including contributions to
report sections, tables, and figures) under appropriate supervision.

What qualifications are required for this role?
Masters’ degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or related field. Bachelor's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or related field AND additional years of experience may substitute
master’s degree.
A minimum of one year of supervisory experience as a cultural resource professional
in the
western U.S.
Previous experience working in the Colorado Plateau and/or Great Basin culture regions.
Ability to conduct fieldwork for long hours in various environments and conditions including
extreme temperatures, rough terrain, and potential high altitudes.
Ability to travel for work, occasionally on short notice and for extended periods (paid drive
time, M&I per diem, lodging when available). For remote projects where lodging is unavailable, camping may be necessary and additional per diem will be provided.
Ability to work and adapt in a fast-paced and creative environment.
