ALL PHASES ARCHAEOLOGY is seeking an ARCHITECTURAL HISTORIAN to join our select team of cultural resources managers! Applicants must hold a master’s degree in Architectural History, Historic Preservation, or a closely related field and have at least one year professional experience in Cultural Resource Management. Applicants should have a firm understanding and knowledge of state and federal environmental regulatory framework, including the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA). Expected tasks include:
-Viewshed Analysis -National Register of Historic Places Recommendations and Effect Determinations
-Historic Contexts -Architectural History Survey and Inventory -Historic American Engineering Record (HAER) documentation -Historic American Buildings Survey (HABS) documentation -Historic American Landscape Survey (HALS) documentation The position requires some travel and the ability to conduct fieldwork, including overnight stays. This field director position work will be primarily based in Northern Virginia so ideal candidates should be based in the vicinity. Candidates??should be SOI qualified (or at the very minimum have a master’s degree or substantial experience) and have a firm understanding of laws such as section 106 of the NRHP. Candidates will need to be able to lead Phase I surveys. GIS and artifact identification skills would also be beneficial. ? Compensation The hourly wage for this project will be between $24 and $27, commensurate with experience and attitude. UES’ preference is for field techs local to the area but will consider applications from non-local techs. For non-local techs, UES will provide accommodation near the project area as well as $59 per diem and will provide daily transport to and from the site. The responsibilities of the PD typically involve traveling and work in both the field and office. The PD is responsible for report writing and having a solid understanding of the basics of cultural resource manager. For small- and medium-sized projects, the PD may assume additional tasks typically assigned to a Principal Investigator (PI), although you will work under the mentorships of the PI for that project. For larger projects, the PD will work in tandem with experienced project directors and/or the PI to ensure that all the tasks associated with the project implementation are accomplished.
