Internship" which is an internship programme newly launched by the Technical
Support Unit of the IPCC National Greenhouse Gas Inventories Programme. The
TSU of the IPCC-NGGP is hosted by the Institute for Global Environmental
Strategies (IGES) located in Hayama, Kanagawa, Japan.

The TSU Inventory Internship will provide the opportunity to young
researchers/scientists to familiarise themselves with the IPCC methodologies
for national greenhouse gas inventories through applied studies on the
science relevant to specific sector(s).

SCOPE OF ROLE

Programme Management

TRAVEL

The Melanesia Programme Manager will be based in Auckland, New Zealand and will therefore need to already have the right to work in New Zealand.? He/she is expected to undertake at least 12 weeks travel within the year.?? Some of this travel will be unaccompanied.

Campus:

The Library:

Duties:

Qualifications:

The person appointed will be accountable to the Principal for the management and overall development of the College’s Library and Archives to meet the needs of the College’s staff and students.? NATIONAL PROGRAMME OFFICER

The NPO will be under the overall direction of the Regional Programme Director of UNIFEM and with the immediate guidance of the UN Resident Coordinator in Papua New Guinea.? Project Management

·?????? Assist in the implementation of the 鲍狈滨贵贰惭’蝉 Framework of Assistance for the region (20002/3-2007);

·?????? Brief/Debrief experts/consultants and missions assigned to projects in Papua New Guinea and provide necessary assistance;

·?????? Prepare project management plans and monitor implementation and bi-annual progress reports and final reports for projects;

·?????? ?Ensure that executing agencies submit the required expenditure and other financial reports;

·?????? Assist in providing policy and programme guidelines on UNIFEM to the United Nations Country Team, and Papua New Guinea and update as necessary; and

Financial Management

Other Tasks

·?????? Provide substantive inputs and drafts on requests, analytical papers and proposals for strategies for UNIFEM and UNCT;

Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in GIS and Remote Sensing

The appointee will work closely with the Project Manager, GIS Officer and other staff

within the University to develop and teach a series of courses in flexible-mode that

covers the theory and application of geographic information systems and remote sensing

to natural resource, environmental, watershed and coastal zone management and

community mapping. It is also expected that the appointee will undertake research,

PROGRAMME CO-ORDINATORS

The Pacific Regional Office of the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) seeks to recruit suitably qualified and experienced persons for two positions: (i) Programme Co-ordinator – Women in Politics Programme; (ii) Programme Co-ordinator – CEDAW Programme ?to be based in 鲍狈滨贵贰惭’蝉 office in Suva.? The Programme Co-ordinator (PC) will report to the Regional Programme Director (RPD) and support the RPD in managing 鲍狈滨贵贰惭’蝉 programmes in the region.? In consultation with other technical staff, and experts/consultants, the duties and responsibilities of the PC will include:

Programme Management

?

????? Implementation of 鲍狈滨贵贰惭’蝉 Women in Politics Programme (2002/3-2005); and CEDAW Programme (2002/3-2005);

????? Briefing/Debriefing experts/consultants and missions assigned to projects under her/his responsibility and provide necessary assistance;

????? Preparing project management plan and monitoring its? implementation and bi-annual progress reports and final reports for projects;

????? ?Ensuring that executing agencies submit the required expenditure and other financial reports;

????? Assisting in providing policy and programme guidelines on UNIFEM to UNIFEM focal persons in UNDP and member countries and update as necessary; and

????? Assisting in the preparation of programme, project, donor and other reports

Financial Management

?

????? Monitoring the financial expenditures;

????? Disseminating information (published materials, videos etc) and assisting the RPD to maintain close contact/liaison with Governments, NGOs and other women’s groups in the region and update them on projects which UNIFEM have supported; and

????? Supporting the RPD in proactive fund-raising and in identifying potential donors for UNIFEM in the region as well as follow-up actions on donor agencies.

Other Tasks

?

????? Providing technical inputs to UN Inter-agency working groups and UNIFEM-sponsored seminars

????? Representing UNIFEM Pacific in meetings, workshops, conferences, as assigned;? and

????? Undertake other tasks, as required by the RPD.

?

Competencies Required: Project Development and Supervisory Skills, Extensive background on Convention of Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW); Resourcing and Organising, Gender Analysis, UNDP Awareness, Partnership Building, Quality Focus, International Focus, Communication, Negotiation, Self Management, Professional Strength, Socio-economic Awareness, Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel

Minimum Qualifications and Experience: A Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Economics, Public or Business Administration or related discipline with at least 5 years of experience in development-related work at the national and/or regional levels.?? Extensive experience on project implementation and supervisory would be an advantage.

?

GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Successful candidates will be based in Suva and will be required to travel on country programme missions.?? Contract duration will be for 12 months initially with possibility of renewal.?

?

LANGUAGE: A high standard of spoken and written English.?

?

REMUNERATION:.? Salary level will be between F$29,020-F$40,529 (gross taxable salary) depending on experience.

WWF, is the world’s largest and most experienced independent conservation organization.? It has global network active in more than 100 countries.?

WWF is seeking applications for the position of Programme Director with the WWF South Pacific Programme (WWF SPP).?? This is a newly created post that will have responsibility for developing the regional conservation programme and ensuring delivery of the conservation plan in the countries which WWF workings in the South Pacific.

Requirements for the position:

• Applicants from both women and men are sought and should have appropriate tertiary qualifications in the broad area of environmental science, natural resources science, environmental law, political science or related fields.?
• At least 10 years experience in working at the programme level on conservation and sustainable development work is desirable.
• Experience in monitoring & evaluation systems at both the project and programme level is desirable;
• Experience in interacting with government officials, Aid Agency donors, regional organizations is essential and experience in advocacy, negotiation and campaigning work is highly desirable;
• Good inter-personal and organizational skills, including self-motivation and an ability to initiate actions and to follow though to satisfactory completion;
• Competence in other languages, particularly Pacific Island language and French would be an advantage;
• Understanding of the Pacific islands region geography, societies, economies, politics and pertinent issues of conservation and development.

The appointee will be based in Suva, Fiji and report to the Regional Representative.? Occasional travel will be required internationally and within the South Pacific region.? The successful applicant will be expected to take up the appointment in early 2003.

The appointment will be on a contractual basis on an initial three-year period.? This contract may be extended subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funds.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The position is a multi-task function covering all aspects of General, Heavy and Marine Engineering.?? There is a requirement for the day to day planning of workshop activities such as setting work priorities, allocating jobs, ordering spare parts.

The candidate should be outcome motivated and have a minimum of ten (10) years experience in the heavy plant and equipment field. Experience within the marine industry would be preferable as considerable work is undertaken in this area.? Experience with Daewoo Heavy Equipment and Marine Engines in particular would be useful.
