Yes, I was hospitalised in Nice (CHU Pasteur, the Neurology department is VERY nice, and has tried very hard to minimize the meds)...I've lived here for more than twenty years!?

You have done a great deal already, especially when Yahoo kicked us off and I didn't know how to deal with the situation.?

It will take a while before I can resume anything. You can't tell from this email how many times I typed badly because my hands are shaking so much, and had to go back and correct or how long it took because I can't think of a word I want (it was the language part of my brain that has the lesion, of course!! :-(( ).?

I looked up “zweckm??ig” in Adler’s Dictionary of the German and English Languages, 1884 (p.833) and the definition is as follows:?

Conformable?OR?agreeable to the purpose; judicious.

I understand this Aphorism to mean that a true physician will conform or be agreeable to the way Hahnemann outlined the way a homoeopathic medicine should be prescribed, i.e. having a knowledge of apriori information deduced from provings and then prescribing according to the law of similars, and of course, using good judgment.

I also looked up a German translation for “expedient”. Adler gives the following options:?

Schicklich which means “fitting" (as in a person’s behaviour),?

Dienlich which means "useful, helpful", (to be of help to somebody or something), and

Rathsam (old spelling) which means “advisable".

Since Hahnemann was meticulous in his choice of words for the Organon, and also given the fact that he specifically used the word “zweckm??igste”, rather than others, I feel Lois’-Boericke’s translation is more precise. The problem for me with O'Reilly’s translation in this instance is the modern connotation given to the word “expedient” - giving the impression that convenience rates higher than good judgement. However, I doubt that was what O’Reilly ever intended. ??

If I used "judicious" instead of "MOST judicious" for something with that -st ending, it's a mistake. It's the superlative, as you noted.?

I don't know why, whether it's because of my age or what, but it's "stuck", and while I seem to be able to improve it a little bit each week, using all sorts of things, I can't get rid of it. And it makes my brain a bit fuzzy...enough that I can't do German!!?

Yes, this is really the text of your translation. Normally I did not modify it and at the time I only copied and pasted the German and English texts, but not the analysis and sentence-by-sentence translation parts.
In fact, I was studying a book on the treatment and cure of cancers by Homeopathy. The author (Jens Wurster) was commenting some aphorisms of the 6th Organon aphorisms to present his treatment strategy and I thought: but how did she translate that Lois? And that's when I noticed a slight misunderstanding!

Sorry for your childhood illness! It reminds me of when my 3 children and my wife also caught mumps at the same time (not me because I had them as a child).? Homeopathy had worked well for everyone and I was happy to find a presentable family again! (smile)

For the Coronavirus it seems that Genus Epidemocus should be either Gelsemium or may be Bryonia. In fact it's probably some kind of flu that can be cured with flu remedies.
